Works great now that I got a the unifi security gateway (router) and cloudkey... I was initially having issues with drops and performance... but I was using my old router with this AP (with wifi functions turned off) ... seems my issues were with my old router... lol. LOVE Ubiquiti products ! Highly recommended ! P.S. I am a using this in a home and I am technically minded and dont mind reading and I figured things out... I would say if that describes you, then you could do this to... well worth it. :-)

Perfect for my space. Easy to setup with great speeds.

I have bought five of these range extenders and have them placed outside. There are nearly 70 rooms in my hotel, and I have never received a problem. I only bought the last two to make sure range never gets dropped but I was getting range everywhere with only two. The speeds are decent to great but the range is truly incredible, especially for the size, without all the extra antennas found in other access points. Overall, great access points and would definitely recommend to others. Also, the software to manage all the access points, whether there are this specific model or not: can be any ubiquiti access point, is godsend as easy to manage.

I realy would like to give a good review on this product but I cant get the control to load on Windows due to not having a Security Certificate. I finally got it working as a stand alone and have a good signal and coverage. How ever I dont know what power the unit is set on and am unable to get in it to change the pass word. I recommend researching this product before buying and see the problems are having loading a Certificate. Most people are building there on Certificate to get the Program to load on windows.

Awesome AP! I got this for my cousin to replace his wireless AP thats built into his router. The range is great, a lot better than the built in one. Setup is very easy as long as you configure it by connecting your computer (laptop) to the wired network. I tried to configure it through wifi until I thought about what I was doing. Duh! The configuration software is a separate download from the Ubiquiti web site and youll likely also need to download the Java runtime software from Sun. Once these are in place and running, which is very easy to do, then setup of the AP is simple. If you have ever configured an AP (wireless or wifi setup), the configuration is very easy. Give it a name (SSID) configure it for a VLAN is you have one (home users probably dont). Then apply the settings and youre done. The management software will show you connected devices (guests and users) on the AP and will show you individual and aggregate traffic levels on the AP. Nice to know but not really necessary. After that, you really dont need the software unless you want to monitor the device. However if you have multiple APs in your location (e.g. one upstairs and one downstairs) then you probably want the management software to always be running, so youll need some sort of machine running full time to host the software. It could be a VM on a NAS, a NUK or Mac Mini, or even a Raspberry Pi. Just check the recommendations if you are unsure. Windows, OS X, Linus are all supported. Ive never had to contact Ubiquity support so I cant speak to that area. I installed these and configured them myself. I do know about networking and some about wireless networking, but it really is easy and only takes 15 mins or so to go fro the box to configured. Hanging it up will take a little longer, but the mounting hardware is well thought out too. Its one of the more trouble-free networking devices Ive encountered.

Very easy to setup with the app , I did however purchase it to replace my current outdated engenius as I needed more range , Unfortunately I now have less range than I had with the older extender

This unit provides a very reliable and stable signal, The coverage is also good. The problem comes from its PoE capabilities. This unit is compatible with an older (24V) PoE standard and will not work out of the box with your average PoE switch. To do that you have 2 choices. You can either use the PoE injector that comes with the UAP-AC-LR or purchase an adapter (Available from Ubiquiti) that will reduce the PoE voltage coming from your switch to the 24V that the access point requires.

Boy is it pretty! Very hard to track down too. I really like it because it is powerful, compact, and has an awesome manager screen. It performs best with phones, other devices dont seem to love it as much. I did a bunch of tests with my other wifi and on my phone this AP had much faster speeds. I was at 15Mb on the other router, and with NO OTHER CHANGES but this AP I went to 40 Mb... I cant explain it, just is awesome. My MAC laptop experienced similar increase, but our laptops and rokus didnt see quite the same speed bump. Hard to say why.
