06-06-2025When it works, its great. However, any time there is a power outage the key gets corrupt and I lose all WiFi. Its necessary to reset and reinstall from a backup. People in the Unifi community seem to think I should buy a gas generator so the power doesnt go out and corrupt the key.... This seems a bit silly. Ive had many other routers and switches that work just fine after a power outage. UPDATE: Bought a UPS so power outage wouldnt be a problem. Still having issues with the cloud key going offline on its own. Nothing but problems.

> 3 dayHave run Unifi controller on Windows computer, a Synology NAS Docker container and a Rasbery PI3, all had negatives with them. This single device was up and running in 10 mins. Once I repointed all the Ubiquiti WAPs and other devices to it, it has been great. POE makes it even nicer. Dont have to run a computer all day to manage my Ubiquiti network, Synology NAS Docker versions of Unifi you could find were always behind what Ubiquiti had on web site and RPi3 was very slow in comparison to the standalone Cloud Key.

> 3 dayAs with all their products so far, the build quality of this switch is nice and really seems like it will last. I installed it with a Ubiquiti AP and switch and this is working with everything well. Solid piece of hardware, and nice build quality, though. A must have for anyone setting up a Ubiquiti UniFi WiFi network. This allows you to manage all of your WAPs without setting up the software controller on a computer. Runs the UniFi Controller software for your whole setup, low power consumption, an use POE or micro usb for power, boots fast, small and light. This is professional quality gear but with some time and learning a normal dude/gal should be able to install this without much headache. Note: I received this product at a discount in exchange for a review, but I review honestly with no BS.

> 3 dayFor small to medium sized networks Unifi is by far the best. Unless you need some major Cisco solution take it from me. I manage 3 schools and they all use Unifi APs Switches etc. This works best for 90 APs or less. I even put one in my house.

> 3 dayI purchased this cloud key to simplify the install and maintenance of my Ubiquiti wireless access point. In short, you plug this cloud key device into a powered ethernet switch or power supply and then set it up (the instructions are decent). When you set it up, I recommend you stick with the default settings; you can always go back and customize once it is running, but if you are using for a home network, the defaults are probably fine. Once this cloud key is set up (takes about an hour), your wireless access point that provides wifi is also set up and running (you need both devices at time of install). Better still, this cloud key seems to keep the wireless access point running flawlessly without any additional fiddling by me; Ive been running both for about 10 weeks without a single interruption and I have not had to do anything (no reboot, no upgrade, nothing, it just works). I really like the solution for my home network; I have ethernet throughout my home and a POE switch which really helps with this set up.
