Vornado 460 Small Whole Room Air Circulator Fan with 3 Speeds, 460-Small, Black

This is the best fan. Better than any tower fan I have ever used. It’s single-handedly prolonging the time I get with my bedroom window before installing my window AC unit for the season.

This fan blows really well for its size. My last fan was a standard 12” that I would keep on high. Even the low speed on this fan is stronger than the high speed on my old fan. Definitely would recommend.

We just spent almost $17,000 for a state of the art AC unit a couple weeks ago due to the phasing out of R22 / Freon and wanting to not continue punching holes in the Ozone later. As budding hippies we wanted to do the world a service but ended up super depressed when it was 115 degrees out and we discovered that the new units don’t really cool as well as the clunky old enviro-killers that were the R22s. Even with the thermostat at 72 degrees b our bedroom would hit 80 stuffy degrees due to ductwork and the fact that it is living on the roof where it is 165 degrees in the blistering Arizona sun. Anyway, you want to hear about the Vornado, not my rude awakening about modern AC units. So I was crazy excited about this purchase and was waiting at the door for it. I had watched some YouTube reviews and was sold even before the endings. Take my money NOW!!! Unboxing was standard. Very nicely packaged and a very solid fan. I adored how robust it feels and that it isn’t on a pedestal. Having 3 fans in the bedroom is not only a pain for us but confusing for our poor Roomba that is officially afraid of trying to map / chart our floor layout due to constantly moving pedestal fans. And cords everywhere. Just no. Anyway, we set up our little Vornado (the 660 is the model we went with) on the bedroom dresser and turned it on. Woah! It wasn’t fake force wind “WOAH!” but more like wind chill “woah.” We have a hot spot in the bedroom between the bed and window that gets really hot and stuffy. Our thermometer there reads 78-79 degrees. Well, I have taken all the pedestal fans out of the bedroom and have been running the Vornado for about 25 minutes and we are already reading 76 degrees and dropping. The ice cold air from our hallway is actually mixing in with the hot bedroom air and cooling effectively like the AC fan and ceiling fan is failing at. Mind you it is 107 outside and climbing. I can’t even describe my joy. We sat on the bed and it feels like cold air is going all around us. No weird hot spots or humidity. Just a really consistent “cold air is all around me” feeling and the absolute bliss that I don’t have to drop another 10k on ripping out all the ductwork. Guess who is buying another one of these for the guest suite? Yeah. This girl right here. 5 stars. I’m absolutely sold on this.

Vornado had been my first choice in fans for nearly two decades. They’re nice looking, quality construction, quiet, and they sure move a lot of air for their size. Every Vornado fan I’ve ever bought in the last 20-ish years is still working perfectly. This particular fan is a really quiet one and pages a lot of air. It handles a pretty big space, about 20x24 feet. The old (non-Vornado) fan I replaced was set up in an Alexa plug so I could just tell Alexa to turn it on. This fan has electronic switches for on/off and up: down speed, so doesn’t work with an Alexa switch.

My AC was broken and it would be 2 weeks before it could be fixed. I bought this fan to help keep my bedroom cool. It’s exceptionally well made and extremely effective. It did a great job cooling a large room and keeping the air moving.

This fan really circulates air well. I generally just have it facing ceiling - and I can feel a real difference. I’m in Vermont where it doesn’t get terribly hot for long periods. I use it with the heat on and seems to help my lungs get air. It came ready to use. Only had a few months so I hope it works a long time. Also bought a cheaper similar fan for a bathroom that did nothing so i’m now a Vornado fan. If it stops working I will update.

You can see my old review of this item below, but a little over a year after purchasing this item I have to update my score from 2/5 to 4/5. I rent and my landlord doesnt care about energy efficiency or insulation so: (a) I have a crummy window AC thats installed incorrectly in my wall (and it doesnt drain properly (AND its not rated for this size room anyway!)); (b) my windows are not insulated and so a large, old hurricane window (110 x 50) gets 12 hours of direct sunlight each day; and finally (c) my lease forbids me from doing anything about either of these problems. I live in Miami, so (needless to say) my apartment gets uncomfortably warm during the summer. But yesterday I came out into my living room, where this circulator hangs out, and it was just unbearable. I couldnt figure out why immediately, but then I noticed that this circulator was off (there was probably a power outage -- this device has a surge protector in it and needs to be reactivated after any flicker). I turned this back on amd within an hour my apartment was back to what I expected -- too warm for true comfort but cool enough to put the ambient temperature out of my mind. So whatever my initial complaints, it is clear to me now that this circulator does, indeed, help cool my apartment. I stand corrected, and happily so. [Old Review] SYNOPSIS Please dont dismiss my review by supposing that I tried to use this differently than intended. This DOES NOT work as intended. The air tunnel this fan creates travels less than 10 feet before the airflow feels equal to ambient. However, the volume of air it moves is LOW relative to the PRICE POINT. You can get as much circulation for less than half the price. I cannot in good conscience recommend this unit -- perhaps mine is defective, based on how glowingly it has been reviewed by so many others.

Great fan! Not my first. I have another which is over five years old.

I really am impressed by this fan. It has great white sound on medium and high. It really circulates the air in my bedroom.

I have two of these one in bedroom, one in living area and they keep my home cool . I have the small size (460) and love this fan.
