Definitely recommend! This small air circulator (not a fan, youll understand when you buy) is quiet and powerful. Sleep with a fan normally pointed at me in the bedroom. With this I just point it at the ceiling or opposite wall and still feel a nice small breeze in the whole room. Will also use this is the summer to circular air into the room that doesnt get AC. Easily would remember this if youre looking for a lot of airflow

Let me start by saying, if i was rating the function of the fan itself it’s a 5 star fan. The glaring problem is the stand. It does not stay locked in at the angle you put it. The vibration of the fan slowly makes it slide on the metal adjustment guide tilting it up in the air. If it had a simple lock it would be about perfect.

I love this fan! Our entire family sleeps with a fan at night and we all have some type of vornado pedestal fan. I bought this for my toddlers room and placed it on a shelf due to space issues. The wind speeds are Great, noise level is perfect and its very sturdy. The best part is this fan is so sleek looking! If you want something that will last, buy this Vornado!

Its summer. If you are lucky, you have air conditioning. Most people in Seattle do not. When we purchased our house, one of the first things we did was get AC. Why? Because my wife (and honestly I) cant sleep in a hot room. We have a 3 story, new house. As such its incredibly well insulated and when it gets hot, it stays hot for a long while. When purchasing our house though, we made the mistake of getting whole house air conditioning because our house was plumbed for it. However in hindsight, that was a mistake. We would have been way better off installing a Ductless Mini-Split system in our 3 bedrooms. This would have provided the correct sleeping temperature in the only rooms that we need cooling, without wasting money cooling our whole house (mostly unnecessary here in Seattle). Ductless mini-split is designed for people that dont have ducting (radiant heat or no heat), but they can also act as heat pumps and heat in the winter. Think of them as basically an air conditioner that can run in reverse to heat as well. Anyway, whats done is done. We have a problem though. Our bedroom is quite large (with vaulted ceilings), and on a moderately warm day (> 76) our room gets beaten by the sun, and with the vaulted ceilings doesnt really cool down enough by the evening. After a few years of pondering a solution, it turned out some old school tech was all that was needed. A Fan. What is it? The Vornado 660 Whole Room Air Circulator is a Fan, but its not really designed to blow air at you. Its designed to circulate the air in the room. And boy does this thing move air around. It turns out that air movement (or the lack theirof) is the primary reason our room didnt cool down. Our ceiling would collect hot air, and that hot air would fall as the day went on, crushing the ability for our ducts to push enough cool air to keep things comfy. You can see from the photo, that this thing looks nice. It comes in White and Black [$99 @ Amazon]. We chose white for our room. Its not a nice looking as say the $300-$400 Dyson Fans, but the cost / benefit to this guy is kinda nuts in my opinion. The reason its tilted up because you are supposed to point it at say the corner ceiling of your room to get air circulating. You do not point it at your bed for example. Why did you get it? I got this particular Fan because of the rave reviews on Amazon, and my general familiarity with Vornado. I wanted to love the idea of getting a Dyson fan, but the reviews are pretty mixed and the cost is pretty high. How has it made your life better? Weve had this Fan for a few weeks and my general observation is that its cooled our room about 3-4 degrees. Thats a pretty substantial difference for us. I have placed it within the vicinity of our duct, and so it managed to capture cool air (roughly 50-60 degree) and blow it straight up to the vaulted ceiling, pushing the hotter air down back into the room. The fan has 4 speed settings. The lowest setting produces a very comfortable flow of air with minimal noise. The 2nd setting is a bit stronger with a bit louder, but tolerable noise for sleeping. 3 and 4 are left for mega hot days (80+ degrees outside) and we leave it on 3-4 during the day and then 1-2 at night. Are you going to keep it? This should last a good long time. We plan on getting a smaller model for our daughters room which has a different problem. Too cold in the winter as her room is over our garage, and it tends to be a cold spot in our house.

If you are looking for a fan that moves a lot of air & provides consistent white noise, youve found it. There is NO rattling. I tried a different Vornado fan that fit my decor but it rattled. They sent me a new one. It rattled. I gave up & purchased this less expensive model that doesnt fit my decor & I am very happy with it. I would recommend this fan to anyone...

Update: 07/09/2020 This 660 has become my sleeping fan, whether I use the A/C in the room or not. On really hot and humid days, I turn on the A/C and this fan helps circulate the cool. On other days, I just have the fan on lowest and pointed at the ceiling to be bathed with a gentle breeze. Sometimes I turn it a notch higher. The trick is to point at ceiling so the breeze cascades down. Wonderful. As some mentioned, it is made with some thin plastic parts so dont toss it around. I broke the cover attachment stays of one by tossing it into the trunk of the car. This new design is not as robust. Update: 05/28/2017 The 660 I had bought for my friend was damaged, I was going to repair it for her. I called Vornado for a part and they sent a new fan instead--I had to cut up the cord of the old one and send a picture with serial number. Impressive. I still like my 660, but I just bought another Vornado fan that I like even better--the #293 heavy duty utility fan--it is much more robust, with stronger air flow--although only 3 speed, and low is pretty quiet. Even has a handle; a bit larger and heavier. It has the old design which I actually prefer; grill comes off easily with snaps. Now I have 5 Vornado fans, including my Zippi. Update: 8/3/2016 I had recommended this fan to my friend and reviewed it earlier, below. Now I just bought one for myself. What a breeze, definitely circulates air in the whole room. Wont be using the A/C as much, thats for sure. Although it is loud on highest setting, but what a breeze. I just said that twice--and thats what it is--breezy. Still using my old 183 (530) which is running like when new, these 20+ years, but figured I should get something stronger.. Now I have 4 Vornado products. >>> Recommended and bought it on behalf of a friend, who was initially reluctant to spend so much for a fan--she got the 530, liked it, but it was too loud on high, so I suggested this one. After receiving and using this, she was very, very pleased, and asked me why I had not recommend this one in the first instance (instead of the the 530)--I said--it was because I was not sure she wanted to spend so much money for a fan, being that she was frugal. :-) I had a older model 530 (a 183) that I have used for close to 20 years--still like new. I lost the rubber feet on the base and Vornado sent them to me--impressed the heck out of me. I also have a Vornado whole room heater and just bought a Vornado Zippi fan.

I bought my first Vornado in 2019 and a small one in 2021. Dont be fooled by the small size, this really moves the air.

This fan blows really well for its size. My last fan was a standard 12” that I would keep on high. Even the low speed on this fan is stronger than the high speed on my old fan. Definitely would recommend.

I have purchased 4 of these. The are far reaching and blow really strong. I little pricey so I dont appreciate paying over $100 with tax for each of them, but they work well and I have purchased others that are much less expensive but dont pack the same punch, so I keep buying these for myself and my kids and the spare room

The Vornado 460 Air Circulator combines the signature Vornado grill and deep-pitched propeller to move air up to 70 feet, while aerodynamically circulating all the air in a room. The 3-speed control allows for speed selection to meet any circulation need. Have absolute control of airflow, with the fully adjustable chrome glide bar. Use the 460 all year long for added comfort and energy savings in every season.
