My daughter continue to have issues with the software. For now she is emailing the support on a daily basis without success. She is using a Macbook and we are having many problems with integration with the actual game

I was a bit hesitant at first given how much this costs, but our 8 and 10 year olds love it. One thing that it does is not to focus too much on programming or Java itself but in how to get a mod built. At several points, it also goes through a trouble-shooting exercise to teach how to figure out why something isnt working correctly. This isnt really a general how-to-program course, but it is a fun way to introduce kids to programming by letting them get to the interesting parts while not having to focus on the annoying parts of programming.

My sons have LOVED the Youth Digital classes. The videos are entertaining as well as educational. I love how they lead your child step-by-step through the process to be sure they understand what they are learning. Very educational and worth the money. Two thumbs up! - Michelle from www.homeschool-your-boys.com

My 11 year old and I started watching the videos, they are fun, until he made the first code change. Then he said, I got this, and proceeded to go into hacker mode. He did the classes, then started adding more stuff. Found new ideas on the internet. Sent off questions and got good tech support. He loved it, and I recommend it as a starter course in programming for most any kid.

I have a 10 year old son who loves Minecraft and recording Minecraft videos for Youtube. He does not have a server yet. I liked the idea to have him learn Java and improve his gaming. He would not be into coding if it wasnt for this avesome product. I would advise parents to spend 1 hour setting up an account with Youth Digital (provider) and downloading the files. Make sure that firewalls allow for installation and so on. And the let your kid loose once everything is working. Dont get your kid totally excited about uploading their own sword and they you spend an hour rebooting and creating folders. It was the best thing I got my son all year. The guy who teaches the kids in the videos is on the kids level, respectful, has a nice language and is a good role model. Somebody commented on his voice being weird, buts its sounds good to me. Which I had a science teacher like that in school :)

In order to use this you also have to buy the minecraft pc download for another $30. And then log in your credit card. Not happy!

We bought this program for our 9 yr old who loves Minecraft. We thought it would be a great introduction to Java also and it really is. Hes learned so much about keyboard shortcuts, understanding files and folders, how to read and edit code, as well as a lot of other stuff. I highly recommend your child have a decent knowledge of how to get around on a computer and obviously Minecraft before they start. This is a really fun, engaging way to learn a new skill. My son is constantly laughing at Justins jokes and presentation of material. It helps him learn and retain the knowledge imparted to him. We cant wait for Mod Design 2!

Parents bought me this and was greatly disappointed to find out that it has nothing to do with coding. It just teaches copy and pasting code and doesnt even talk a single bit about how to write your own code. Their videos are based on placeholders that their students use. Moreover, they use customer support to advertise their other courses, but most importantly, you lose access to the course after a year without notice!

My 10 year old loves Minecraft and this was a double win. He is playing his game and learning great skills. He reports that he is able to follow the tutorials without help from us and he is happy to be learning over his Christmas vacation! So a triple win! We will be getting the 2nd lesson after he finished this one!
