> 24 hourThis shinto rasp has a rough cut side and a smooth cutting side. It is the first time I am using a shinto rasp and impressed with the overall cutting ability and the finish. A lot of purist woodworkers shun this rasp but after seeing it in action in a few youtube videos decided to give it a try myself. As mentioned, I am really impressed with its ability although I am not sure how long it will last in terms of retaining a cutting edge. The rasp is made up from a number of hacksaw type blades and will eventually blunt to the point of not cutting as well as it should. I highly recommend ignoring the woodworking snobs and give this rasp a try. It is obviously no Lie Nielson rasp, but at its price point it does a fairly good job.

> 24 hourBest rasp I have ever used!!! Coarse side takes off tons of wood even oak/ash, Finer side leaves wood sanding ready. Clogs less than most rasps and clears with little effort. May buy a second one.

> 24 hourAmazing tool. I am a sculptor by profession. Every day I put tools to wood. 50 years of Nickerson #49 & #50s. $100 plus, hand made French rasps, and more. Tools are important to me so I’m willing to buy the best. The Shinto never appealed to me. There was something about the plastic looking handle (it isn’t), and the unusual concept that just didn’t click. Then I tried one. Amazing. Sharp, effective, and fabulous on end grain. So fabulous in fact that it has become my go to for many applications. No, I don’t work for the company, though it might sound like a paid endorsement. I’m just happy to pass on this terrific find. If this was twice the price, I’d still recommend it.

> 24 hourThis rasp can take out a lot of wood quick. Its perfect for starting a neck radius or a body carved. You still will need a dragon style rasp for curved parts. Take caution, you can go too deep with ease.

> 24 hourExcellent, 2-sided cutting rasp, with medium & fine-toothed sides. Easy to keep planar. Could benefit from a dipped, rubber grip at the tip. Think Ill make one. Think Ill buy another for a gift.
