I compared laptops for several weeks before buying. This machine had all I wanted and nothing I didnt need. Ive been using it for several months now without a single problem or complaint. The case is sleek and sturdy. The keyboard is quiet and responsive. The touchpad took some getting used to, but thats always the case with a new laptop. The battery life is INSANELY good -- I can go for days without plugging in under casual use. The boot-up is super-fast, as expected. Processing has never bogged down. I use this machine for Internet, document creation, regular office stuff. I do not use it for gaming, as it is not intended for gaming. The value for the price is just unheard of these days.

This laptop is so awful. First of all, at some point the sound decided that it would only be barely audible even when every volume setting is at max. The charger no longer works for more than 3 seconds at at a time, and the computer constantly makes a beeping sound with each register and loss of the charging connection. Then, it randomly shuts down contantly. I thought Id move away from expensive Apple products, and have learned its better to just spend 1k on a quality product that lasts for years than $700 on some pos that has to be replaced in less than 2.

After three months of owning this laptop the WiFi stopped working. Acer support could not fix it. So now I have to send it to Texas to be repaired. Although they gave me a postage label I still have to pay for the packaging to ship the laptop. This is an instance where a box store would have been better. All I would need to do is drive it the store for repair or have it exchanged for a new one, simple. Texas is the only place to get the laptop repaired ifpurchased from Amazon and Acer. Very disappointed. Ordering is easy, repairing not so much!

I bought this model A515-54-51DJ (received Dec. 20) to future proof my 3-year old Acer Aspire E 15 which has served me very well and still is. This “Slim” model has an IPS screen, which is an improvement. It does not have a DVD drive like the old E 15. It also does not have an SD card reader. My use is only for non-gaming and for very light graphics.
