OK I knew going in that all new computers come with a complement of preloaded apps for which the manufacturer receives inducements. They propose it is to Enhance the users experience but in reality they are at best a nuisance and some are malicious usage trackers.. In the past these were relatively easy for technically literate users to eliminate. Now they have become much more sophisticated and devious and it took me about 5-6 hours to disinfect this ACER 5 slim machine. I use my laptop for serious work and cannot have tracking software of any kind so I am very careful what I load on my machines. I do not use Facebook, Twitter, Skype or even the Google search engine because of their behind-the-screens mischief. SO I thought I have every thing cleared off except the pre-installed Firefox browser (my browser of choice). I was setting this machine up for my wife and upon boot-up the desktop and functionality has to look just like the old machine else she is not happy with the change. Even to the point of having the exactly same Firefox tabs open in the new machine as was open in the old machine. So after everything was prepared and all the other software installed I moved her old Firefox profile to the new machine and turned it over to her. After about 5-10 minutes Firefox locked up and would not exit. Even task manager could not clear the fault. I was able to force a restart but then Firefox would not load at all. At this point I have about 20 hours of time in this project. If I was doing this for a customer that would be about $1000 dollars for a $500 dollar computer. In the end and MANY hours of work later, after doing aWindows restore to the initial state of the machine and removing all the crapware again I used control panel to uninstall Firefox and deleted all its related folders including those in the hidden c:/user/username/%APPDATA% and c:/user/Public/downloads folder (delete everything there). I then downloaded Firefox from their website and set everything up again. So far all looks good but she uses Facebook so her footprints are being collected. I never use her computer for my work so thats OK. In the near future I will need a new machine and am not looking forward to having to set it up.

Shipping took WAY to long. The computer itself is good quality so far, but a little hard to open if you dont have nails. The speakers are a joke! On the highest setting you can make out the audio in a quiet room, but add any sort of noise (or have the computer on your lap, and forget it.

Exactly what I expected and needed for what the work that I am doing with it. Not a great gaming computer unless you upgrade the memory and graphics card. The processor is on point though.

The only thing wrong with this computer is the heavy handed control from Microsoft .It constantly fights to keep you from using anything but Edge , Bing , and Norton . I had to have a computer expert help me get Google on and Norton off . Very frustrating . Otherwise love it !

Great computer for its price but it didnt come with things I thought all laptops came with like audio output and CD rom drive. So I had to purchase hardware but that wasnt to bad. Needed to buy an external sound card so I can have better sound system other then the tiny speakers of the laptop and so I can use my headphones. Needed to buy external DVD drive because not all programs can be installed with only internet connection. Other then that its perfect. Definitely worth the money. The things I had to buy might be things that all laptops need now and days plus youll have a variety of options for the necessary add-ons , from cheap to pricy.

This laptop is for my dad, a senior citizen over 75 years old. He likes to read news, facebook, some light picture edition, watch Netflix and movies, and take his laptop with him, whatever he goes.

I initially thought this was a ok value. Not for gamers but solid performance for a reasonable price ...that lasted for about a year. Now, at about the 14 month mark (after the warranty is up of course), I had a dead key which I replaced thinking Id done something. More keys followed on a different side of the keyboard. They work sometimes and dont other times. Im meticulously clean about my laptop. I researched it and found many other A515 keyboard issue complaints - multiple keys fail with no user-caused explanation like spills, etc. Ive tried every troubleshooting suggestion with no luck. Some users have had the keyboard replaced only to experience the issue again.

Backlit keyboard very nice. Fast boot and response. No touchscreen was a surprise, thought it came with Windows 10.
