The only thing wrong with this computer is the heavy handed control from Microsoft .It constantly fights to keep you from using anything but Edge , Bing , and Norton . I had to have a computer expert help me get Google on and Norton off . Very frustrating . Otherwise love it !

Gave as a gift. I’m a big PC guy, and have spent my fair share of time messing with various computers over the last few years. This computer is a great value for what you get and works awesome. Girlfriend said “it feels like something from the future.”

Could this be the worst computer ever? I’ve been through a dozen or so over the years, but none have been this bad. Very poor WiFi connection even when in the same room as the router. Randomly shuts down. Don’t have more than a few pages open at once or it slows down. And it’s bulky and it has an annoyingly short power cord, making it difficult to use when charging. Bottom line is you usually get what you pay for. Another couple hundred more can get you a real laptop.

My son bought this computer for his graduate program and hed solely use this for computer non-intensive programming assignments. The computer worked like a charm for a year, he had no complaints.. until the battery just stopped working one day. Now the computer MUST be plugged in for it to work and even then he is having issues booting up the OS properly.

Good little laptop, fast, bright screen, lightweight. Use Google products with out issue

    Greater than one week

I bought this laptop for work after much comparisons with similar products. I had a budget to stay within. It came in quickly with no damage. Its sleek, lightweight, quiet, powers up very quickly, and I actually like it overall. But what has me annoyed is that its touchy (this is the reason why I bought a new laptop because my old one was touchy). I can be typing along and all of a sudden a whole paragraph or sentence will disappear. I find if I have on a long sleeve shirt and it even thinks about dragging anywhere on the laptop, itll make things disappear. I have adjusted the sensitivity of the touchpad but it hasnt helped. My second problem is now after a year my touchpad doesnt work all the time. Again, Ive tried adjusting the sensitivity to no avail. Had to buy a mouse. My 1st one was a wireless but it wouldnt stay connected. Had to get a plug in mouse which I dont mind but its just one more wire I have to fight with and transport.

Screen was loose on arrival. I took it out of the box and could hear something was loose inside. Upon further investigation I noticed the screen moved and shifted within the case. I’m very disappointed in the initial quality. I’m making a replacement request, hopefully the second one will be better quality.

1st day. Setup was smooth and Win10 boots up nicely. Screen quality is also good and so the speakers. Not a gamer, so can not write a review for that. Will update the review as I use it.

Im very pleased with this laptop. The speed of processing is more than adequate for most needs. I would prefer to have 16gb of memory as opposed to the 8gb I have, but then I like to run VMs and containers as well as do standard work. For standard work, this laptop is good. The keyboard is nice and large and responsive. The touchpad works very well, either through touch alone, or by clicking it, right & left. The image quality is good and the graphics processor decent. I tested it with a few movies and its great. Im very happy that it has USB-C as well as regular USB, something every laptop should have these days. The power brick is nice and small. The battery life is good, but not great. I really like how the screen opens very wide, making it much easier to use on oddball surfaces (I present for a living and you can have your laptop in some spots). This is not a powerhouse super graphics engine of a laptop, but thats fine. Its a solid work horse that will get the job done.

The Acer Aspire 5 has a 15.6 Full HD IPS Display, the new, 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8265U processor and an adequate amount of RAM (8GB DDR4). The 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD main storage is fast and quiet, it supports long battery life because you dont have a disk spinning all the time the laptop is powered up. I like the backlit keyboard with the separate numeric key pad. I also like the fingerprint reader to allow for secure logon without remembering another password. The unit is slim, but a little heavier than I expected.
