> 3 dayLove the fast startup, and always appreciate the lighted keyboard. We only use it for web browsing and social programs. We miss the card reader more than I thought we would. We are using an adapter to USB, its fine but not as handy.

> 3 dayPretty fast laptop for the money. The only gripe I have is with the fan noise. The fan isnt always noticeable but it can be distracting in a quiet setting like a library or class. Also, the battery life could be better.

Greater than one weekSleek and modern with a large 1080p screen, this is a great choice for watching movies, running office apps, or games that are not GPU/CPU demanding. Its obvious a lot of thought went into the details. The USB ports can be used for charging, theres one USB 2, two USB 3.1 and one USB C 3.1 port. Wired and wireless networking (using the newest ac wireless standard), fingerprint reader, large touchpad, full sized keyboard AND a numeric keyboard.

> 3 dayBeen an Asus fan, couldnt resist the price on this at Black Friday, switched to buying this instead. Been four months, not regretting choice! Doesnt have bells and whistles, but it works smoothly. Battery lasts, Im charging just once a day. Lightweight because no dvd player, learning to live without it. Happy.

Greater than one weekOK I knew going in that all new computers come with a complement of preloaded apps for which the manufacturer receives inducements. They propose it is to Enhance the users experience but in reality they are at best a nuisance and some are malicious usage trackers.. In the past these were relatively easy for technically literate users to eliminate. Now they have become much more sophisticated and devious and it took me about 5-6 hours to disinfect this ACER 5 slim machine. I use my laptop for serious work and cannot have tracking software of any kind so I am very careful what I load on my machines. I do not use Facebook, Twitter, Skype or even the Google search engine because of their behind-the-screens mischief. SO I thought I have every thing cleared off except the pre-installed Firefox browser (my browser of choice). I was setting this machine up for my wife and upon boot-up the desktop and functionality has to look just like the old machine else she is not happy with the change. Even to the point of having the exactly same Firefox tabs open in the new machine as was open in the old machine. So after everything was prepared and all the other software installed I moved her old Firefox profile to the new machine and turned it over to her. After about 5-10 minutes Firefox locked up and would not exit. Even task manager could not clear the fault. I was able to force a restart but then Firefox would not load at all. At this point I have about 20 hours of time in this project. If I was doing this for a customer that would be about $1000 dollars for a $500 dollar computer. In the end and MANY hours of work later, after doing aWindows restore to the initial state of the machine and removing all the crapware again I used control panel to uninstall Firefox and deleted all its related folders including those in the hidden c:/user/username/%APPDATA% and c:/user/Public/downloads folder (delete everything there). I then downloaded Firefox from their website and set everything up again. So far all looks good but she uses Facebook so her footprints are being collected. I never use her computer for my work so thats OK. In the near future I will need a new machine and am not looking forward to having to set it up.
