So far a good fast potable Hard Drive. This is my 2nd Hard drive, ADATA . Have a 1TB drive same as this one. Used it a lot and it still works fine, so I went bigger, For me a good value for the money, easy to use, Light weight, hard to answer, I have it in my hand, I know I have it in my hand at all times.

Plug and Play and good value. They have software to install for backup, but it is outdated and not even worth the free price. Product good, dont even goto the website for the software.

I am a tech junky and have external drives as old as 12 years. Some are simply bare drives in enclosures, some are firewire, some are USB 2.0. I even have 8-bay RAID drives running on USB 3.0 or eSATA. Lets just say I have some experience with external drives from many manufacturers. On top of that, I have used them for travel, work, and even sent several through the mail over seas and back! After all these experiences, the ADATA HD710s are by far my favorites. First of all, USB cable storage...PRICELESS! Fast, not the fastest, but fast. Durable: oh yes. I havent tossed them out on a freeway or anything, but I did drop one down a flight of stairs. I think my stairs took more damage. Fair warning: pets think they are chew toys. My drives have bite marks, but still work fine. I have recommended these drives to many of my friends and family and will continue to do so.

So far so good. Purchased for an external to my MacPro laptop. It holds all my photography education material for my classes. Lots of large RAW photography files. I use it with Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop and seems to keep up with processing. Im not a geek...just someone who uses lots of tech. Based on that I recommend this drive. Ive been through three western digitals because they cant hold up to the abuse I gave them. My only complaint seems to be common: The connector and the plastic cover looks like a failure point. Finally: No matter the drive...internal, external, stick, spinning or ssd...BACK IT UP! Sooner or later all drives fail.

I am one of those people who has destroyed 5 computers in 2 years cos I am clumsy. Then I found this and its a beautiful thing because I had destroyed more than 5 external hard drives too. They say before they ship it from the factory it is tested in water for 10 minutes. You did what to my hard drive?. Stop doing that, OK?

I have found this external to be very useful. I am by no means gentle with my electronics, and by nature I am very clumsy and that leads to carelessness with devices such as these. Thus, durability is the quality that I find the most important, and this product has held up to my standards (which I think says a lot because often my standards can be impossible to meet -- Id like to be able to throw electronics at a brick wall and know theyll be safe...) I am a scientist and have to keep backups of my data regularly, and the hard drive that I am provided with at work looks and feels very fragile, to say the least. I bought this almost two years ago on recommendation from a friend to use as a backup to my current work hard drive, and have had zero problems. I have ended up using this as my primary external as it is very easy to use and has a number of wonderful features. What I like the most is that the cord attaches to the hard drive itself, making it difficult to misplace and allowing for ease of transport. I can throw this in the pocket of my backpack and not worry about it. If you are looking for a durable hard drive and dont want to spend a ton of money on an SSD, this is it. As an amazon customer I constantly find myself reading the most critical reviews, and always wish that some other reviewer who liked the product would address those exact concerns, so Id like to do that here. The main problem I can see in the critical reviews is that the cord can be faulty. I didnt experience any of the problems that the other reviewers have mentioned. This company has wonderful business practices, and I have seen them respond directly to these reviews and offer to supply a new hard drive under the warranty. Another issue Ive read about is that it spontaneously stopped working. This is true of any brand of hard drive -- none are perfect and hard drives dont always last -- that is the nature of hard drives in general (and why it is smart to keep back ups of your back ups...). However, some brands have higher success than others. Knowing this, I did extensive research on all of the hard drives available on Amazon (and elsewhere) and think this stands up to the best and most expensive. All things considered, I think this hard drive is a safe bet and would recommend this to anyone looking for a durable, long lasting and easy to transport external hard drive.

Es buen disco duro pero la velocidad de lectura es extremadamente lenta si no tienes problema en eso compralo

The drive is competitively priced for what it is, the rubber on the outside provide a secure feel as well as alot of shock absorption in case of a call. The packaging is very basic but it is plug and play with my windows 7, drivers installed within seconds. It came default with fat32 but I converted it to NTFS within seconds. The USB cable is short which most people complain about, but Im using this for laptop to backup movies and tv shows so the cable is perfect. The carbon fiber design gives it a sleek look. I loaded about 200gb of tv shows and movies on it, it kept an average speed of about 40mb/s which is super fast compared to my old USB 2.0 drive. Some people complain about the speed, but it is fast enough for me. Im also assuming copying from the drive will be an even fast speed than writing. For a decently fast USB 3.0, very portable, rugged and sleek drive. I cant recommend this enough. Im going on a trip and this drive will be packed away in a carry on for about 40 hours of bumps and tossing around, for now I feel safe the drive can be taken with me without worry. EDIT: So I had the drive stationary until today, when i tapped it it would eject itself and then corrupt files if i was transferring or have to reconnect. The drive i have must have a defect because i can literally barely tap the wire and it disconnects. I put in an Return and exchange with Amazon and will post more once i receive the new drive to see if it was a defect or if the drives are actually this sensitive. It literally cant take any vibrations I bumped the desk and it disconnected.
