Greater than one weekThe drive is competitively priced for what it is, the rubber on the outside provide a secure feel as well as alot of shock absorption in case of a call. The packaging is very basic but it is plug and play with my windows 7, drivers installed within seconds. It came default with fat32 but I converted it to NTFS within seconds. The USB cable is short which most people complain about, but Im using this for laptop to backup movies and tv shows so the cable is perfect. The carbon fiber design gives it a sleek look. I loaded about 200gb of tv shows and movies on it, it kept an average speed of about 40mb/s which is super fast compared to my old USB 2.0 drive. Some people complain about the speed, but it is fast enough for me. Im also assuming copying from the drive will be an even fast speed than writing. For a decently fast USB 3.0, very portable, rugged and sleek drive. I cant recommend this enough. Im going on a trip and this drive will be packed away in a carry on for about 40 hours of bumps and tossing around, for now I feel safe the drive can be taken with me without worry. EDIT: So I had the drive stationary until today, when i tapped it it would eject itself and then corrupt files if i was transferring or have to reconnect. The drive i have must have a defect because i can literally barely tap the wire and it disconnects. I put in an Return and exchange with Amazon and will post more once i receive the new drive to see if it was a defect or if the drives are actually this sensitive. It literally cant take any vibrations I bumped the desk and it disconnected.

> 3 dayThese drives are good drives. I ordered two for my wife, in different colors so she could use them for different applications, and theyve been very solid. Dont expect them to be extremely fast, because at the heart, they are 2.5 laptop drives, but they are great for transferring files between home and school, or to a friends computer, or whatever you need.

Greater than one weekI’m no computer hacking wizard who needs this device for an extreme take down of some sorts, but it works perfectly for me to transfer/store my; pictures, stories and music onto my newer laptop-while still having more room for future needs. I didn’t look at the reviews until after I bought it. But I’m extremely happy with this and would 100% recommend it to anyone who needs it for the basic stuff.

> 3 dayI have found this external to be very useful. I am by no means gentle with my electronics, and by nature I am very clumsy and that leads to carelessness with devices such as these. Thus, durability is the quality that I find the most important, and this product has held up to my standards (which I think says a lot because often my standards can be impossible to meet -- Id like to be able to throw electronics at a brick wall and know theyll be safe...) I am a scientist and have to keep backups of my data regularly, and the hard drive that I am provided with at work looks and feels very fragile, to say the least. I bought this almost two years ago on recommendation from a friend to use as a backup to my current work hard drive, and have had zero problems. I have ended up using this as my primary external as it is very easy to use and has a number of wonderful features. What I like the most is that the cord attaches to the hard drive itself, making it difficult to misplace and allowing for ease of transport. I can throw this in the pocket of my backpack and not worry about it. If you are looking for a durable hard drive and dont want to spend a ton of money on an SSD, this is it. As an amazon customer I constantly find myself reading the most critical reviews, and always wish that some other reviewer who liked the product would address those exact concerns, so Id like to do that here. The main problem I can see in the critical reviews is that the cord can be faulty. I didnt experience any of the problems that the other reviewers have mentioned. This company has wonderful business practices, and I have seen them respond directly to these reviews and offer to supply a new hard drive under the warranty. Another issue Ive read about is that it spontaneously stopped working. This is true of any brand of hard drive -- none are perfect and hard drives dont always last -- that is the nature of hard drives in general (and why it is smart to keep back ups of your back ups...). However, some brands have higher success than others. Knowing this, I did extensive research on all of the hard drives available on Amazon (and elsewhere) and think this stands up to the best and most expensive. All things considered, I think this hard drive is a safe bet and would recommend this to anyone looking for a durable, long lasting and easy to transport external hard drive.

> 3 dayI needed backup storage for both my video and data folders and after a lot of research I purchased 2 of these 2 TB drives and am completely satisfied with them. SSD was my initial choice, but I took a second look at conventional HDD as the price difference was enormous. What made up my mind was the ruggedness and small size of the ADATA drive. They are shock resistant and waterproof, that is major, and are a compact size (granted a bit larger than similar capacity SSD) and with a no slip rubber jacket. I just liked what I saw. Performance wise they are fast USB-3. I also have had experience with SSD drives, which are faster, however the ADATA drives are no slouch and for the intended purpose of backups a little extra speed is not an issue and certainly not worth the sizable extra cost. Its important to note that data transfer speed is dependent on many factors besides the type of drive, I seriously doubt in everyday use the average person would see the difference when simply backing up data. To those claiming slow xfer speed I would strongly suggest researching the factors that determine data transfer. Overall I couldnt be happier with my choice.

> 3 dayI take this everywhere as I travel a lot. It survives living in my work bag and TSA love. It has a simple interface that you can use- or not to encrypt the device with a password. If it is lost it will only display information that you set, such as point of contact and reward information. Great and tough travel companion that woks like a charm! *Update* This tough little guy has been with me EVERYDAY from the day it arrived. It has lived in my every day carry backpack in the front compartment, been tossed on to desks, into trunks, subjected to heat and cold, been inspected by TSA- x-rays, and has racked up a ton of frequent flyer miles. It has survived a Army mobilization, where the backpack was treated much less friendly than the airline baggage handlers. It has survived all of this with no data loss and no problems whatsoever! I now own a second one that is the main back-up for the house computers. Great tough product- highly recommend it!

> 3 dayI did take note of previous reviews complaining about the firmness of the connection of the cable/port. I noticed no such issues. However, Im a little disappointed with the port cover. I dont have to man-handle it, but the insert on the cover flap that secures it isnt very deep and requires a little finagling to make it stay on to my satisfaction. Transfer speed is satisfactory, and as always, depends on the speed of the connection and the other storage device yourre transferring to/from. I purchased two, for on and off-site backup, also mirrored to iDrive. First time I purchased a rugged drive, so only time will tell. The goal is always to never have to see it in action :). Note: Not regarding this drive specifically, just my research. There isnt much accountability or certification going on in the realm of calling something mil-spec. Just search online for yourself. i dont want to ding this device -- just add a word of caution before you purchase an item like this.
