> 3 dayI have found this external to be very useful. I am by no means gentle with my electronics, and by nature I am very clumsy and that leads to carelessness with devices such as these. Thus, durability is the quality that I find the most important, and this product has held up to my standards (which I think says a lot because often my standards can be impossible to meet -- Id like to be able to throw electronics at a brick wall and know theyll be safe...) I am a scientist and have to keep backups of my data regularly, and the hard drive that I am provided with at work looks and feels very fragile, to say the least. I bought this almost two years ago on recommendation from a friend to use as a backup to my current work hard drive, and have had zero problems. I have ended up using this as my primary external as it is very easy to use and has a number of wonderful features. What I like the most is that the cord attaches to the hard drive itself, making it difficult to misplace and allowing for ease of transport. I can throw this in the pocket of my backpack and not worry about it. If you are looking for a durable hard drive and dont want to spend a ton of money on an SSD, this is it. As an amazon customer I constantly find myself reading the most critical reviews, and always wish that some other reviewer who liked the product would address those exact concerns, so Id like to do that here. The main problem I can see in the critical reviews is that the cord can be faulty. I didnt experience any of the problems that the other reviewers have mentioned. This company has wonderful business practices, and I have seen them respond directly to these reviews and offer to supply a new hard drive under the warranty. Another issue Ive read about is that it spontaneously stopped working. This is true of any brand of hard drive -- none are perfect and hard drives dont always last -- that is the nature of hard drives in general (and why it is smart to keep back ups of your back ups...). However, some brands have higher success than others. Knowing this, I did extensive research on all of the hard drives available on Amazon (and elsewhere) and think this stands up to the best and most expensive. All things considered, I think this hard drive is a safe bet and would recommend this to anyone looking for a durable, long lasting and easy to transport external hard drive.

> 3 dayI purchased this hard drive in Sept 2020. I use it for travel and unplug the cable every time it is moved and it stays in a case during travel. By December 2020, roughly used 8 times, the USB cable would only complete the connection if the cable was pushed at an down angle at the drive. I then contacted ADATA for warranty and they asked me to send it in after they verified it was still under warranty I sent the drive in on Dec 12, 2020 and received an email on Dec 17, 2020 that my return was accepted and a new drive was going to be shipped in 3 -5 days. It is now Jan 2021 and I still do not have a replacement drive. It took several calls and emails before I finally talked to someone and was told that the drive was on back order so they could not ship me one. I stated to them that could send me a different drive as long as it had the same specs or a refund because they couldnt even tell me when they were going to get new drives even though I could order the same drive on Amazon and get it tomorrow. I was told that was not an option and I would have to wait. Horrible customer service.

> 3 dayThis is the second waterproof Adata product I own, and boy have they come a long way. First of all the drive is IP68 rated meaning that it can withstand dust and water submersion making it one of the more durable hard drives out there, for reference most waterproof phones are IP67. Another nice feature is that the USB port cover is latched to the drive, making it impossible to loose, In the future, I would like Adata to make it waterproof without the latch, however, I understand that that will make it less durable. Performance wise this drive does what it promises, with read/ write speeds being 125/125 Mb/s respectively, nothing groundbreaking, but its not intended to be. What I would like to be improved is the way the cable attaches to the drive as it puts additional strain on the cable, but Ive been using it for a while now with no problems, so not a major complaint. All in all, I think its a pretty good product and would be a great product had the price been lower but the cool camo skin sure makes up for the price :).

Greater than one weekThis HDD is very light and is powered directly from a USB port. It comes with a USB 3.x cable. It was formatted as FAT32, so I re-formatted it as NTSF so that I can use it to back up my desktop and keep the backup on 1 file, rather than a group of 4GB files. When used on a 3.x USB port, it writes data at close to 1GB/Sec!

Greater than one weekAMENDED: Im giving this 2 stars now because my other Adata external drives continue to work, and the customer service, once it finally kicked in, was okay. It was difficult to get in touch and create the service ticket, mainly because its very unclear what the serial number is and how much of it to use (even though they do try, by providing a picture of various places where it could be and what it should look like. Unfortunately, mine resembled none of those.) They did send an RMA, and I did eventually receive what looks like a completely new replacement. * They did not, however, provide tracking information. They did email me to say it was on its way; however, they also emailed me with another replacement notice, intended for another person at another address. So, the fact that it failed after only four months, coupled with the difficulty in returning it and incorrect information in the email, does not inspire confidence. I purchased a 2 TB external HD April 2022 and have only used it lightly. Based on how well the other Adata Id purchased was performing, I went ahead and got another of the same type and size. The drive began making clicking sounds early October when I tried to do a simple manual backup from a Lenovo Carbon X1, but it seemed to be taking the information all right. Still, clicking is not good. Ran a chkdsk on the drive and it came back saying there were errors. Unplugged the drive, plugged it back in, computer wouldnt recognize it. Tried different cable, tried different computer, nothing. Went to the Adata site, registered, and tried to file a trouble report and request for them to make good on their 1 year warranty. First, the place where they tell you to look for the S/N is incorrect; the actual S/N was on my Amazon receipt. (Which might explain why, on the drive, the numbers had no S/N designation in front of any of them.) Second, very difficult to fill everything in, especially when the only option to note what computer youre using forces you to scroll through about 100 choices - no option to begin typing and have the rest of those names come up. But last, each time I try to use the Contact us form Im told that something is wrong with their system, try again later. Coupled with a note at front saying that due to Covid-19, theyre backed up, I find this very suspicious. Its my assumption that they have no intention to honor any warranty problems. The entire drive was $59, not a huge amount but enough to be annoying. So, caveat emptor. I will not be purchasing Adata again. Several weeks later: Still no response. I dont believe the company has any intention of honoring their warranty. Period.

Greater than one weekAlthough my initial impression was good (for what you get spec-wise for the cost) after using it more Im beginning to regret my purchase. This device is locked down with a non-upgradable custom system (Meaning you cant update existing Android system or upgrade to newer Android version(s) Its missing options under settings that are seen in most android operating systems (even something as simple as Apps or the option to check for updates, security or feature, both of which dont exist here) which force you to jump through hoops to access, if they exist at all on this custom system install. Trying to go into recovery mode on boot-up to try and force an android system update (this one hasnt been updated since 2017 so not the latest security installed) will yield you a list of Chinese characters with no idea on what to choose or how to get out of the endless loop it will likely put you in (turns out it seems the bottom choice lets it boot up normally, if you can get back to that choice screen after choosing something else from the list) And after giving up on that, youll eventually realize another issue...that being, this thing randomly changes the last 3 entries of its MAC address for its wireless connection, forcing anyone that has an access list for their devices to either change it in their router every time this thing powers off/on/reboots, or to turn off their access list control entirely on their wireless router Honestly, if I knew all this before-hand Id not have spent my money on it. However, as it was relatively cheap (especially considering the base specs it lists) its not really worth the effort of trying to get a refund, as it would be too much trouble trying to figure out how to permanently get rid of all my various personal account info Ive put on the device before returning it (with its gimped/hidden/locked-out features) It comes down to this...if you dont care about access lists for your wireless connection at home, and dont care if the android system never gets updated with no option to check for updates (security, feature or anything else for the base system) let alone upgrades to higher OS version(s) then this is a pretty good deal for the money...otherwise, Id suggest you stay away and opt for a slightly slower (and more expensive) option, but with more secure and updated system and more reliable and standardized access features.

> 3 dayThe connector on my last external hard drive seemed wonky and eventually broke so I lost all of my files. This one seems much more rugged after the first 2 months so we are off to a good start.
