Greater than one weekThis replaced a very fast router (different brand) that continually dropped the internet. 2 calls to tech support didn’t help at all so I returned it and bought this ASUS and couldn’t be happier. Fast, easy to install and setup.

> 3 dayThis router has great WIFI coverage. I get my whole house without having to use a access points or mesh nodes. I do see some devices periodically drop from my 2.4GHz network, but they come back by themselves. This seems to be because the devices are 802.11g and have a problem with 40Mhz channel width. It will take some time to get used to the user interface, so many options! I would definitely buy this again. And ASUS says they will extend the warranty for reviewing. EDIT Sept 25, 2021 - Upd rating to 5 stars from the prior rating of 4 stars. I found that the problem with the Squeezebox devices dropping from the network was in the 3rd party RMerlin firmware. Updated to the most recent ASUS firmware and now the Squeezebox devices are solid.

> 3 dayI originally bought one of DLinks newest Wifi 6 routers as a Black Friday deal last Fall. Man what POS that thing was. Signal strength was fair, but actual performance and stability was horrible.... especially on the 5g band. My VPN and sons PS5 would constantly lag big time. My 8 yr old router, which is actually an ASUS as well, worked better! Also, their web interface and app are so limited...you basically dont have control over anything but basic functions/settings. So I finally couldnt take it anymore and sent it back. Then ordered this to replace it and man what a difference! From performance to stability to functionality to the app etc etc this router is LIGHT YEARS ahead of that DLink! Ive been using it for over a month now and basically have no complaints... its absolutely awesome and Im never switching again!

> 3 dayNot sure WHY I spent $300 bucks on this when it can’t even block one simple chat site! ANY site using HTTPS or compression CANT BE BLOCKED! This means the ONLY way to block it is to block ALL of that type of sites - such as blocking ALL MESSAGING! Your home will NEVER be free of the porn chat site Omegle! Nope! Either block it all or block none that’s how it goes! URL/keyword filter will NOT WORK with ANY OF THOSE SITES! Strange because Verizon wireless doesn’t seem to have an issue for smart phones - they can block it just fine but a $300 router can’t block a chat site unless you block them all for all devices on that profile! Seems like a huge waste of money and time. Both of which I am short on. So now what!? Pay another service to do what this router said it could do? Hope predators don’t get to my kids? That’s impossible. They always find a way into your home no matter what you do - you can try to block, pay for software for phones or internet, pay for routers, pay for services and there will ALWAYS BE A WAY AROUND IT! UPDATE- RETURNED! If you want BASIC and i do mean BASIC parental controls, good luck with even that on this router, yes it is ok for being fast, but that is it. The app doesnt work well, you have to go to the website to do much of anything, and even then hitting apply and waiting and finding out what you just blocked is not blocked, etc. it is just ridiculous that it cant block HTTPS when that is the most used. Terrible and should be advertised properly that it cant block these sites. Synology can, without a problem, and you can set up a custom block page, the controls are much better, the web interface is great, the app of course is still lacking but the web interface is very good.

> 3 dayUpgraded from the RT-AC87R after it finally started to show its age. Setup was very easy, just restored the config from the 87R and all devices reconnected to this 86U no worries. Havent had a chance to use the newer features yet but the memory and CPU are at excellent range. Im not a gamer but the specs on the 86U were compelling over the other offerings in the price range so hoping this will be a good choice for the next few years.

> 3 dayI bought this expecting a Asus WiFi 6 router will give me better wifi 6 speeds) speeds for which I am paying for and coverage range. But instead getting acceptable 351 Mbps speeds (this I get from via modem direct connection from ISP) I was getting close to 15 Mbps 1st. Then I contacted Asus support and they told me to change wifi channel and bandwidth from Asus router web interface. I did that and speeds increased to 125-150 Mbps which was still less than the other old Asus router I have ( which gave me speeds up-to 334 Mbps) Upstairs, with old router I was getting 110 Mbps but with this new router, I was getting 46-50 Mbps. So I RETURNED this router. I don’t recommend it but if it works for you, it’s a good router with many options to play with router web interface.
