Run away from it. This router is extremely bad in range. There is a lot of hype about this router but this router frequently disconnects from the internet unlike all other router brands that I had.

I wanted to upgrade my faithful Netgear Witi router, did my research and chose this Asus. The good times lasted about 4 months, just as others mention here. I have spent weeks trying to get a fix from ASUS support with each tech call basically reversing what the previous tech had me do. At least 70% of the time I could not not even connect to the internet via my 2 top-of-the-line PCS(Dell & HP) or my 3 iPads, iPhones and even 4 Roku’s. I replaced all of the ethernet cables, contacted my ISP(they found no problems), among tons of other day-wasting efforts. I even PAID $200 to have a local tech come onsite to see if I was missing anything. Nothing found but everything points to the ASUS router. Past my return date but I am ready to drive my tractor over this black box. I run several internet companies and just don’t have the time for inferior equipment. $350 down the drain and thousands of dollars in my time and lost productivity. This was my first ASUS purchase and definitely my last. Going back to rock solid Neatgear products. I would NOT recommend this router, obviously.

I did a lot of research before deciding to use this product, and it is well worth the price point.

I have had this router for over a year and it has been nothing but constant problems. It will work perfectly fine for an undetermined amount of time and then either the 2.4GHz or the 5GHz band and sometimes both of them will just stop broadcasting. The only way I can get them broadcasting again is to factory reset the router and set it all up again or restore it from backup after the reset. I have tried multiple versions of firmware and it happens on all of them. It even happens in AP mode when the routers only job is to broadcast wireless and nothing else is configured. There is no set timeframe for when it happens either, I have had it go a month+ with no issue, I have had it happen multiple times in one day and everything in between. I have found other online that have the same issue but no one seems to have a viable long term solution. Normally I love ASUS and have several of their products but this one is a flop and not worth the investment. Sadly I will never see the $350 I shelled out for this thing again and have finally resigned to buying something else. Now that I am working from home I can no longer stand the constant loss of internet. ASUS should refund everyone that has ever purchased one of these.

We upgraded our FIOS box and also purchased the Verizon Fios Router G3100. The same day, we started to experience frequent wifi drops...like never before. Two full time WFH jobs and 2 full remote kiddos with every 5-10 min drops was a nightmare needless to say. Verizon can only say everything looks good on our end after rebooting router and their main box. They never once asked I wonder if the router is defective or knew anything about the router to begin with. 5 Days in, talking to different agents, we got the same responses. We knew we had to take matters into our own hands and looked into getting a new router asap. Then came this Asus router (I was pleasantly surprised the hubby chose this one as all my laptops are Asus Zenbooks), and at first, our hope was crushed as the red light remained red 15 mins in the installation (which meant plugging it in and waiting for lights to change) BIG SIGH, but then the hubby said let me try one more thing - he had to plug the ethernet cable into the router and play with the router settings on the laptop - then the magic white (green?) lights came on and the red light disappeared. Whoohoo! Then more excitement as we tested the speed on our devices, walking around the house, all the way on the other end of the house and no drops, wifi signal remained strong. As I write this - it has been 5 full days of wifi bliss. Thank you Asus router. Stay away from Verizon G3100!

I bought this router to put separate time restrictions on different devices. The kids can only play video games in the evening and their school devices still work during the day. No Netflix or YouTube during school hours. This thing gives me total control. Thanks

Great Wi Fi by itself, easy to administer and set up. I have a 2700sqft split level house with a shop 150 feet on the other side of the property. Added 2 Asus Blue Cave AC2600 mesh routers to the system putting one in the shop and one on the upper level and the AX88U on the lower level as the main router all connected with Ethernet cable. Instead of getting good coverage the ax88u overrides the signal of the mesh units connecting weakly to the ax88u and intermittently dropping devices 10 feet away from the mesh units. Mesh units do connect to devices haphazardly and is a nightmare to set up as Asus product support was no use solving the connectivity issues. I am getting ready to resell and go an entirely different way. This may be a good gaming router but as a Wi Fi mesh system it fails miserably

We needed to upgrade our router to utilize all our bandwidth and we were gonna set up an Aimesh system with the old router but this router also expanded to the deadzones so there hasnt been any need...Asus makes a great router, its expensive but it maximizes your internet.

Ive had this router since April 2020 & have gone through several firmware updates. Yes initially some bugs were there but firmware updates came quick and were easy to apply. I currently have this setup as a main router (3rd floor) with an Asus RT-AX3000 (1st Floor) as a wired Ai-Mesh unit on a fiber gigabit connection. This has been working flawlessly for my home. Alone it could easily cover the 3 floors and 2000 sq ft, I usually had 2-3 bars at the furthest points from the router with around 80-150mbps of bandwidth. Adding the Ai-Mesh unit brought that speed back up to 700-800mbps via WI-FI using my S22 Ultra. The 8 ports were enough for me to plugin all the existing ethernet ports in my home. Sure its not Wi-Fi 6E but its plenty fast for streaming or work from home duties.

In order to filter Adult sites you have to identify the device (computer, phone, etc) that you want to filter. This does not work if an employee gets a new phone and then starts looking a porn. This can be an HR issue
