Out of the box it’s super easy to setup. I recommend identifying what you’ll use for passwords in advance. I liked that the web GUI shows a full list of recommended security settings (e.g., turn off UPnP, etc.). You feel secure immediately. I like that you don’t have to pay for the security like with Orbi.

My Internet speed was way slower than the speed my ISP said I should be seeing. After much testing with the ISP, I was confident that the problem was on my end so I reluctantly decided to spend the money on a higher end router. WOW! My download speed instantly showed >3x improvement and my upload speed showed a >10x improvement. ASUS has this figured out - it was extremely easy to install.

My experience with this router has been terrible. I have two ET8 nodes connected via wired backhaul. All my devices have had problems with random disconnects since the beginning. I should’ve just returned this right away. Now I’m on the phone trying to get tech support and no help in sight. If this weren’t so expensive, I would just throw it away and get another mesh router from another company.

I grabbed this back in February of this year, and it worked fine for about two months or so. Then last month the secondary node just stopped connecting to the mesh anymore and we had to factory reset both to get anything to work again. And now the whole thing goes down every few hours and needs to be rebooted - sometimes a couple times before both nodes show up in the app and everything functions again. Will absolutely never be buying another networking solution from ASUS after this.

I bought a two pack ET8 and what a waste of money. This thing is a POS and I am not satisfied with the purchase. After about 45-50 days it quit working properly. I contacted Amazon and was told I had to work through ASUS and that ASUS would provide a replacement. That was not true, ASUS requires the unit to be sent to them at my cost and then I am without an internet router for how ever long it takes them to work on it and return it.

I bought this highly rated router and 7 months later I did a factor reset and turned it into a brick. That was not the worst part - the worst part is ASUS customer service!

Somewhat simple to setup though only a quick start manual is available. And theres the rub. No explanation of what all the led lights mean. Flashing blue, solid blue, flashing green? Initially the secondary node wont even stay connected line of sight across 100 of open area. Ugh. Swapped to main router and dead. Reset and even hit WPS just in case. No joy. And finally the node just quit. Did a firmware upgrade, no luck. Swapped again and just the inexplicable blue light and no connection to the internet. Downloaded the computer based system. Can find the main router but the node is dead. Double ugh. I finally reset the entire mesh system back to 0, reinstalled all the drivers and the node finally connected again. It will now stay connected across the house, at least for now. And do go to the ASUS website and download the computer based application instead of the smart phone item. It has many more features and is much more friendly.

What happens when your router fails and you have to send it back. Life stops or you have to buy another one. This router was dropping our devices throughout the day. It caused a lot of havoc in our lives. It has been one of the most frustrating routers I have ever purchased.

This was supposed to be the best wifi possible. Instead - it keeps disconnecting and instead was a massive waste of money. Id recommend going with a google wifi instead.
