> 3 dayLet me tell you why this book, like the first, is so amazing – it’s not just a book, it’s a: (1) board book; (2) song book with music and singing; (3) book with some of the most popular Chinese nursery rhymes and translated American nursey rhymes that you all know; (4) interactive toy; and (5) a bilingual book in English, Chinese and Pinyin pronunciation – all rolled into one awesome book! What a wonderful concept! The author/singer is a mommy who created this book for her baby – she has a beautiful soothing voice and the songs brought me back to my childhood as well as when my son was a baby/toddler. Music is so important for babies and children. It has been shown that listening to music helps children develop the ability to decode auditory data and sharpen their auditory memory - abilities which are fundamental to language comprehension. This book will help your kids learn Chinese without it feeling like a lesson. The songs in this book are written in English with the Chinese and Pinyin pronunciation next to each phrase. Even if you can’t read Chinese, you can still sing along with the author by reading the Pinyin pronunciation. You will understand what you are singing/reading because the English is right there for you. This is also a fun and easier way to learn how to read the Chinese characters, too. As an added bonus, because this book is so sturdy and the song buttons are easy to push, your little ones can read/play with this book by themselves! Need a break for a few minutes? Give them this book!

13-06-2025My 2.5 year old daughter loves the Bao Bao Learns Chinese books! We bought the second book, the book of children’s songs, after our toddler kept listening and singing to the nursery rhyme book constantly (one year later, that book is still going strong). My husband and I can’t read Mandarin fluently so the fact that the book is bilingual and has Mandarin, English, and pingyin is helpful for us too. The sound and the words are clear and the traditional Western and Chinese songs are catchy. After only a week, my daughter has learned all the songs, including the Chinese songs she wasn’t originally familiar with.

Greater than one weekMy children as well as myself absolutely adore both of these Chinese nursery rhyme books (blue and red). They have learned these songs with me and just cannot say enough good things about these books!

08-06-2025My sons, 1 year old and 2 years old, both loved our first Bao Bao book so much that when I stumbled upon this 2nd book accidentally, I did not hesitate to buy it at all! I quickly scanned the songs in the book, place it in my cart and purchased the book right away! We received the book yesterday and I had told my eldest that I had a surprise to show him after his bath before bedtime. Once I gave him the book, he smiled sooo much through each song. I told him that he can go through the book one time before bed, but he asked to read/sing it over and over. We love the natural singing voice in the songs, the simplicity of the book, the coordination of the push button with each page and the cute illustrations on each page. My family is not a Mandarin speaking family. I am a Teochew/Vietnamese mama who is learning Mandarin so I can teach my boys. I love that the book is simple enough that even I can understand and follow along after learning Mandarin on my own for about a year now. I highly recommend this book (and the 1st book-red cover) to any family who are of Mandarin speaking or of non-Mandarin speaking. I give both her books that we have the highest recommendations without reservation! You will not be disappointed!

> 3 dayOur granddaughter listens/reads this over and over. It is very well done. I’m not a Mandarin speaker so I can’t speak to the quality of the language but it is certainly successful in engaging a young child and interesting her in learning Mandarin.

> 3 dayId never exposed my four year old to mandarin and was gifted the original Bao Bao book. My daughter *loved* it so much -- she memorized and will sing all the songs, she loves looking at the pictures and playing the corresponding song. We recently got her this second edition and she was so excited she made up dances for all of the songs. Ive always thought of teaching kids a second language as daunting and difficult, but seeing her light up like this makes me realize that exposure can be so fun for them. Another bonus is shes basically past the age of plastic press a button toys but this book is a much-loved exception. Will be giving this to friends for their little ones birthdays! We love it.
