My HP printer died so I needed a new one. I dont use my printer every day so I didnt need a lot of bells and whistles or super great printing, I just needed to copy, print, or scan to emails occasionally. I was originally looking at HP since that is what Ive always purchased but I am really turned off by needing to install an app to set up, change print quality, scan, whatever, and all new printers seem to require this. My HP could do everything from the display and I wanted that ability again. After reading many reviews I purchased this Brother printer. I dont need the fax but was happy that an app, although available, was not necessary to set up or use this printer. I am a techno-boob and was able to set it up, connect it to my Chromebook wirelessly and quickly, connected my desktop computer by cable (not included, I had one for the HP printer available), and was able to scan a document and send it to email all from the printer in about 20 minutes. Take heed of a previous reviewer and make note of the PIN number on the back, it will be necessary for updates. Connecting the computer cable to the USB port under the scanning bed is a little awkward in appearance (should be able to connect at the back of the machine in my opinion) but easy enough to do. This prints super fast and the ink cartridges are easy to insert into the front of the printer. I havent needed to buy new ink cartridges yet but they are much cheaper than the HP ink. It stays connected wirelessly, unlike my previous HP which I often had to reconnect before being able to print from my Chromebook. All in all, so far, I am very pleased with this printer, its features, and its function at a very reasonable price.

My cheap-o Canon was horrifically bad! But this printer, oh my word but it lays them all in the shade! Truly, a purchase you will not regret!

From day one this thing was a pain. Sure it prints, but try to shut it off. Very difficult. If you leave it on it beeps in the middle of the night like a baby or puppy. Then constantly wants access to your PC. Scanner quality is weak with any darks snanned as black..on and on. Scan software is from the 1980s. Now try to get cheap ink for it ....what a pain. You can only get it thru Brother. What a ripoff. No wonder its cheap. Get a HP.

I like that it print color reasonable fast. It was hard to set up, and the ink run out fast.

Was quick and easy to set-up. It was unclear that you need to return to the Brother App after attaching to the printer in the set-up. Once set-up, adding other devices to connect to the printer was straight forward. Biggest issue is 3 of 4 replacement cartridges are not available on Brother web site. Amazon only has all colors from off-brand suppliers. It appears Brother is trying to force you into the subscription model for acquiring replacement cartridges.

Good printer, but it isnt worth anything if you cant find replacement ink cartridges anywhere. I guess Brother missed the memo regarding ink cartridges being the product printer companies make their money on. So much for selling the printer itself as a loss leader. Good luck on your next product line. This one doesnt seem to be working out for you.

I didnt realize what a lousy deal this was until I needed to get Black ink. Places where the price is reasonable are out of stock. Amazon prices are outrageous. Two thumbs down!

Was easy to set up and I started printing right away. It’s very easy to operate with the app icons that the driver downloads. The only downside was that it did not include the cable to attach to the computer as it boasts and encourages wireless connection. I had one from previous printer so it was all good.

UPDATE: It is impossible to purchase black ink replacements for this printer. Every possible location is sold out. Have never seen anything like this. Its a shame because this si a great home printer. I was looking for a printer that would set up fast and connect seamlessly to our WIFI. This Cannon fit the bill as promised. I can print from my iPhone, computer, and IPad with no issues and not trama. I had always been an HP customer, but my experience as well as customer reviews say, to stay away, and always need tech support to connect WIFI. No thank you. Happy with my new Cannon.

You must always mess around with it to get it to print. I t isnt intuitive. Overpriced and the ink is also very pricey.
