> 3 dayI just got one of these from Microcenter, and it did its own setup process without needing to connect to anything at all. I used the USB cable to connect it to my Linux PC (Ubuntu 22.4.01) and it just worked. No phone app to harvest my personal info, no driver or firmware issues, no mandatory internet connection, just easy printing. It did not come with the necessary USB cable though, that had to be bought separately. You need, specifically, USB Type A (male) to USB Type B (male) to connect this printer to a PC USB port.

> 3 dayWas a great printer for a few months but now it’s useless. Brother doesn’t stock the black ink cartridges needed for this printer.

> 3 dayDecent little printer, until I ran out of ink. It’s non-existent. Even Brother doesn’t have it in stock. Window to return the printer closed about a month ago, but I’ll still try to return.

05-04-2025I don’t have much to say except that I feel that this printer was worth the price especially for the first time purchasing a printer in general. I liked that it was very easy to set up with clear instructions on what to do. The print is great for the price I paid and it’s really easy to use. Just wanted to add when first setting up the printer it will ask for a password to update the printer, you can find the password behind the printer along with a serial number you will need. Other than that, it’s a great purchase.

> 3 dayI had purchased several Brother All-In-One printers previously with few problems. When my Model MFC-J1010DW stopped printing, I decided to replace with the same model. I had on hand several print cartridges previously purchased. In unpacking the new printer, I thought did not realize the printer cartridges included with the printer were set up for printer installation. They looked exactly like the cartridges I already had - which I inserted by mistake. In all the printers I had previously purchased, starter print cartridges were not required. The manual did make some mention about installation of starter ink cartridges; but did not emphasis their importance. Since some time has passed, and I have no idea where the started ink cartridges are, I called Brother Support requesting that they send a new set of starting cartridges - and that I would be happy to purchase them. I was informed that they were not available for purchase and that they could not be sent to me. The only thing I can do at this point is to discard the printer. I will not be buying any Brother products in the future.

Greater than one weekAfter a number of years of not needing one I decided to pick one up after I started getting involved in community projects. So far it is a very nice unit and it has individual ink cartridges rather than just one for all your colors. Something I really like.

> 3 dayI do not recommend buying this printer! Its a great printer but the black ink cartridge is not available anywhere - even directly from Brother, who I contacted and who told me that it is available onsite from Staples, but the two stores I went to were out of it. Amazon - nope. Office Depot - nope. Walmart, Best Buy - you get the picture. I cant find one anywhere. The printer comes with a full set of 4 cartridges and the 3 color cartridges are available everywhere - but no black. So if I run out I will have a large, expensive paperweight. Hoping they come back on the market at some point but at this time, early 2023, I do NOT recommend buying. Very very disappointed after going through the whole setup to find this out.

> 3 dayThis was my second unit. The first unit was full of bugs and I couldnt get it setup. You sent me another unit and it made a big deference.

Greater than one weekBlack ink no longer available for this machine--Brother MFC-J1010DW Wireless Color Inkjet All-in-One Printer -- from any ink supplier--I am bummed. This printer should not be up for sale--bad business. I am a long time Brother home printer user and this is the first time this has happened--baited and then left hanging. Not good for business. It is too late for me to get a refund now, though I would like to be contacted with some sort of conflict resolution.

> 3 dayI’m really loving this printer so far. I hope it last me a long time and I don’t run into any issues.
