> 3 dayYou think it is cheap and good deal, but the truth is that you will spend more money than what you spend with the author mfc printer that has aftermarket ink cartridges , in mfc-j1010dw you will br forced to use just the original lc401 and thats why its just for 99$

> 3 dayI did like this printer but when I went to buy ink, because it only comes with sample ink carts, it was almost the cost of the printer with no cheap alternatives! returned no problem and bought a refillable ink printer!

> 3 dayEasy to set up and used. I print mostly in black and white and the quality is excellent. Printer ink seems reasonably priced.

> 3 dayI ran through the ink cartridges that came with the device and the extra’s I ordered with the machine. I’ve been trying to find some for the last month gave up and joined their subscription and just so I can get some ink. Beware, this may be a regular problem with brothers Inc. I think they want to force you onto their subscription plan if I had realized it would be so difficult to buy ink. I would’ve stayed with HP like I always have, think long and hard and how much pruning you do and if you’re willing to put in a subscription plan before you buy..

> 3 daySo I bought this printer hoping for the best. Seemed to be great until the black ink ran out, rather quickly. Now I cant find a replacement. Everyone says out of stock. Even the manufacturer doesnt have ink for their own printer. What a joke.

> 3 dayPrinter works great but now I’m out of black ink and it’s not in stock anywhere. So it’s useless.

> 3 dayEasy to setup, just be sure to read the directions properly. Be aware this model (J1010) is wireless only although you can attempt to set a wired connection through the telephone line port on the left, but it might be cumbersome and a bit more risky to your network. I also recommend getting one of those pressurized air cans to ensure your document feeders run smoothly. One thing to note is when you set up the printer and it asks you to try out the scanner and redirects you to a site to sign up for a Brother account - make sure you arent enrolling into their ink subscription as well. I almost made that mistake but instead just created a general account without the subscription by going to the main site. The app is great as well. The prices through the Brother Mobile Connect for ink is quite good but I dont see myself needing to print a lot. I mostly plan to scan, but if I do need ink, Ill definitely buy direct through Brother. If anyone wants it, I can update on how fast the ink runs out. Highly recommend this affordable and quite cute all-in-one printer :)

> 3 dayArrived on time and in good shape. Description says “starter” ink included, but digging around on Brother’s web site reveals that standard-fill cartridges come with this printer, and that’s what I received. Easy setup...except for the USB cord that was NOT included. I used the one from my old HP printer. It has a USB plug on one side to go to the computer and a squarish side that goes into the printer. Note, you have to open the printer to get at the printer port – pretty lame design. It’s easy, but I have no idea why they didn’t provide an external port. Anyway, they recommend using a cable of 6 feet or less, and routing the wire through the printer takes up almost 2 feet of that, so that leaves you with a printer no further than 4 feet from your PC, theoretically. I have mine 10 feet away using the standard cable and a USB extension cord, and it’s working fine, so far. (Also, instructions aren’t great on locating the USB port inside the machine – it’s simple once you find the video on YouTube; don’t sweat it.) Loading ink is easy. Software is downloadable only, like most things these days – no DVD/CD. But it went smoothly. They try to trap you into extra downloads at the end. In fact, from opening the box to every step along the way they try to trap you into letting them monitor your use and automatically sell you ink and more. You can opt out, but it’s not exactly intuitive. Just go through the install screens slowly after the initial printer/fax downloads. You may need to click cancel, or skip, or just close a window. Printed a color document. It made the usual racket that my old HP made getting itself ready, but this Brother was actually printing – by the time I thought it was going to start printing, it had finished printing. Nice! Four stars. Would have received 5 if it came with the USB cable.

> 3 dayThis printer is loud, sounds like its chopping up stuff when pulling the paper in and when pushing it through while printing. None of my other brother printers in the past have done this & its definitely too loud to put at my work desk as it would disrupt my co-workers peace! Maybe is was banged around too much in shipping as they just slapped a shipping label on printer box and mailed out with no extra protection. Im contemplating returning this one!
