> 3 dayPrinter was easy to setup, prints really fast, scanner works great, my only complaint about the printer itself is that loading the paper was a little trickier than most printers, but all in all I have no complaints about it. However theres one very huge and overlooked drawback to buying this model: black ink is sold out everywhere. Ive tried every website such as Staples, Office Max, Amazon, Brother itself, websites that specialize in printer ink and NO ONE has black ink in stock for this model. I managed to place an order for black ink on inkcartridges.com but the order still hadnt shipped after 3 weeks, I suspect because they were also out of stock but hadnt updated their website. I still have about a half a cartridge of the black ink that came with it but thatll run out before long and then what? For this reason alone Id recommend going with a different printer, even though the printer itself for $99 is a steal.

> 3 dayThis was a nice little printer until it ran out of ink. The required cartridges are out of stock everywhere, including directly from Brother! The off brand ink wont work in it. Without ink, its no longer a printer - just a dust collector. I returned it and ordered a Canon printer for which replacement ink is readily available from a number of different retailers.

> 3 daySee Brother support site. Many complaints over no LC401 ink available for the J1010 plus no aftermarket compatible ink cartridges for this model.

> 3 dayBrother is selling this WIFI only printer knowing there are serious problems with it connecting to WIFI routers which use dual bands. A dual band has multiple bands of WIFI (2.4Ghz and 5Ghz) under one SSID and password. My cable company has given me a smart router which uses dual bands and is also a gateway (modem and router combined into one device) and so my WIFI is INCOMPATIBLE with this printer as a result. There is no way for me to use this printer unless I buy a new router or use a USB cable which is impractical for my household. I had to do a lot of research in order to figure out why this printer kept disconnecting from the WIFI and always said offline. I was never able to print! None of these problems were shown on the product page. I would never have bought this printer had I known these issues. I bought this based on the good reviews. I dont recommend buying this printer unless you plan on using a USB cable (sold separately) or have a router which has separate bands which you can choose from. Brother has a long list of their products which have the same issue so Im returning this and going back to Epson because I had no WIFI issues with my old Epson printer.

> 3 dayWe got this Brother printer for my daughter to replace a printer she had not been able to install for the last couple of years. I tried to install it for three hours and noting I tried worked, hence the need for a new one. This Brother MFC-J1010DW unit installed in less than half an hour and has been working quite well since installed. I have had two Brother printers, one a multifunction model, for about 12 years and neither has ever failed. I am a big fan of Brother printers as they are relatively inexpensive, have good life in the ink cartridges, and print well enough for what I need them to print.

> 3 dayIt’s too big for us, labeling on buttons too small to read as is the button. I’m older and would take back but too much trouble for me.

> 3 dayUpdate: Dont buy this printer, every single time I want to scan a page, I have to reinstall the printer drivers. I cant really afford another printer, but when I can I guarantee that it will not be a Brother machine. Update: I just threw that pos in the trash can. Dont buy one, you will regret it. Nice printer, but it constantly disconnects from my Mac Mini2, even using a USB cable.

> 3 dayThis is my second Brother product. Each one has been super easy to aet up and uses less tone than most printers.
