> 3 dayThis is a simple but very good gigabit switch, perfect for extending your wired ethernet network. Setting it up and using it is dead simple, the feature set is very good, and the price is quite reasonable. I havent timed file transfers yet to see how much faster it is than a more common 100Mbps Fast ethernet switch. I think the power-saving features are a good idea. Id be surprised if they made a huge difference in power consumption, but theres nothing wrong in saving even a little energy use. _IF_ your network wiring meets all the requirements for gigabit transfers then this can be a useful part of your network. If your cabling is not up to standards, then this switch wont make it go any faster than the 100Mbps switch you may already have.

> 3 dayHappy with this product so far, works as indicated (Ive purchased one before). Really have nothing to complain about - all 1000/100 connections light up individually and pass data as described.

> 3 dayMine has been boring, just like I like them. They have a rounded top, so you wont be able to stack them. They probably make them that way so you cant do that and overheat them. They just plug in and work, so there isnt much to say. It has been reliable. I forget its there at all. It plugs into the Internet router, and into it is plugged computers, printers, and a Monsoon for streaming TV.

> 3 dayMost switches have the ports in front and that makes sense for a rack or a stack of equipment. But, a switch on my desk with a bunch of cables coming out the front is ugly. And, I dont want to have the switch on the floor as that is a pain to deal with. I also need to see if an item has network activity, so the lights are on the front. And, those lights are not super bright, like some of the Netgear and other switches. Watching a TV show on my PC does not have to compete with a flickering light show from the streaming. So, this is perfect for someone who wants a switch that just works without any fuss, just plug your stuff in and go.

> 3 dayBased on reviews, D-Link switches are the best bang for the buck and good performers -- from what reviewers have stated. They easily wall mounted and installed. Still have gigabit D-Link switches from a couple years ago and still working fine. Pros: 1) Easy wall mounting, includes screws and drywall plastic mounts Cons: 1) Can be mounted upside down, but the screws mounts have to provide resistance to keep the unit from slipping off the wall mounts. I just noticed the D-Link four port has wall mount slots allowing reversing or mounting upside down. (Reason being, when mounting on the basement utility board, network wiring is likely run down from the ceiling to the top of the unit, versus from the floor on upstairs mounted units.) 2) I wish the spacing of the mounting holes were exactly 5 or 6, instead of 5 3/16! 3) I wish the mounting holes were slightly larger, to simply use 1 1/4 wood screws which have a slightly larger screw head then the dry wall mounting screws. 4) Would be nice to have included an approximate five foot cat5e/cat6 patch cord for connecting to a router or into the wall. (Luckily, found my last five foot patch card purchased a decade ago in the bottom of a box.) Would have also been nice to see this packaged as a bulk item, similar to CD-R/DVD-R/BLU-R drives, as the box and card board insert seem to be excessive for packaging. The manufacturer/distributer could probably save a buck here. Other then this, its awesome.

> 3 dayI purchased to replace older model of this switch. So far it has lasted longer than the previous models. PROS: +Price +Size +1 gig Ethernet CONS: -Mounting is available, but they still use the holes at the bottom for screws. jar it the wrong way and it falls.

> 3 dayI needed a few more hard wire ports for my home LAN. This seemed like the best for my needs and it worked perfect right out of the box. Not even sure why I bothered to read the instructions because it worked with out me doing anything other then plugging it in. I have had this in operation for a couple of months now with no problems at all.
