> 3 dayPurchased the Ethernet switch to split one wire to service multiple devices. This device gives me a higher mbs rate than I could achieve with a wireless setup. I can now stream content from my PS3 and Smart TV without hang-ups. Nice design that blends in well with my entertainment system. Im very pleased with the performance and ease of setup with this device.

> 3 dayI have been using the previous D-Link DGS-2205 model for several years without any issues, so I purchased the DGS-1005G without any hesitation. Its an inexpensive (I remember when something like this cost over $100) 5-port Gigabit switch that just works. Plug in the Ethernet cables, the power supply, and you are all set. Some have commented that you cant stack these due to the design, but I would advise against stacking any of these types of consumer oriented units directly on top of each other due to heat which can significantly shorten the life of the product. Instead, I stack them using inexpensive low profile wire shelves commonly used to increase space inside kitchen cabinets. If you have a lot of these, you really should be looking at higher end rack mount units.

> 3 dayJust excelent. The LED color code for 100Mb/1000Mb is so usefull. This device is extremely compact adds no delay to out/incoming connections has sweet looks. Is USB powered with the benefits of no proprietary power cord and if you have near an always on device with USB can connect right there no extra power outlet space. The only minor detail is that if you populate all the 8 ports the UTP cables might outweigh the device and lift it from the table a bit.

> 3 dayGood Morning America, Obama here once again. Just recently switched from Comcast 400/20 to ATT Fiber 1000/1000 and didnt want to use ATTs crappy gateways. Thanks to DSLReports forums I found out that I can use this inexpensive device as a dumb-switch and bypass ATTs gateway entirely. I have this device hooked directly into the ONT which is then feeding my wireless router and other gigabit switches. It is powered by a UPS and has without so much as a hiccup been running my gigabit network for a month and a half now. OOKLA speedtests result in 970/970, 3ms ping, 1ms jitter. The ATT gateway was unplugged and stuck in a box in the closet within 15min of the ATT installer leaving. As far as I can tell, this device is rock solid and has no problems handling symmetrical gig internet with 30+ devices pulling from the network. Recommended. Obama out.

> 3 dayWorked great for one month, then one of the 16 ports stopped working. Past the return window for Amazon, so it goes in the junk bin.

> 3 dayFast, inexpensive, and no problems. The lights on the front could be more visible from wider angles, but Im only saying that because I hadnt met the minimum requirement for works in this space.

> 3 dayI was using a 10/100 base switch. At max speed I was only getting ~8MB a second, which is pretty slow. After getting a PS3 and Jail Breaking it, it would take ages to copy one game from the computer to the system. In fact it was so slow that I kept using the original disk and just ripped it to the HD rather than deal with the ridiculously long copy over the network. I got this router mainly because all the systems and wires in my house were rated for gigabit speeds and I wondered if it would make a difference. Its like night and day. Copying from my RAID 0, 5 Drive system to my laptop averages 28MB/s, 15-22MB/s to the PS3, and 30-50MB/s to other systems in the house. The price was reasonable and with eight ports it supported all but one of the systems in the house. My advice, even if you dont do a lot of file coping between systems, this is still a good purchase. It was a 350% speed boost over my 10/100. Thats time you can put to use doing other things.
