> 3 dayring setup tips-- I couldnt find anywhere else (quickly), so thought I would share here -- to add, select security (not smart plug -- since that is ring) then scroll down to works with ring -- then, to switch new devices to be on the extender, just trigger them once or twice and/or use the connect button and then the signal warning icon in the individual sensor summary screen (battery, alerts on / off page, etc.) should go away (ring support-- please add this to the summary line, after the word closed-- low signal so its easier to find which devices need troubleshooting)

Greater than one weekNo issues pairing it to SmartThings. The newer way of adding a device by scanning a QR is nice. No issues controlling the outlet once paired.

> 3 dayI purchased several of these when I first started using home automation. They are easy to install, even if you are new to z-wave like I was. I like that they are still functional after a power outage...some brands lose z-wave function if the power is interrupted and you have to physically be present to repair the z-wave network....these come right back online, which is huge when you are using them remotely for a vacation home or if you are on vacation and the power goes out. I use then with both an IQ panel and a smart things hub at two different locations.

> 3 dayNot sure why some people are having issues with using this switch with Smarthings (other than when smarthings is having other issues). I have a Gen 1 that I have been using for over 2 years and now this Gen 2 and they both work with no problems at all. The Gen2 does not have the rubber plug to cover the outlet, so if you plan on leaving it mounted outside with nothing plugged in this could be a problem. I dont mount mine so not issue for me.

> 3 dayEasy to install with my Nexia system. I did not need tech support but when I use Nexia tech support they have been friendly, understand my communication even though I don’t speak technical and easy to understand their instructions and communication.

> 3 dayThe unit itself is smaller than I thought it would be, which is a plus. I installed this in my backyard to control my landscape lighting and works as advertised! Very easy to pair with Smartthings as well.

> 3 dayWhen will I learn. Ive used other GE SmartThings compatible devices before, switches, indoor/outdoor outlets mostly. Sometimes they connect right away sometime they take multiple repeated attempts, and in the case of this device, it never was recognized by my SmartThing hub. My recommendation is to stay away from GE devices , I tried this one in desperation, its the only device of this type I could find for my desired use. Other Z-Wave compatible brands have been excellent, they just dont carry the variety of devices I need, come on Samsung, get some devices on the market!
