Dont let the specs on the cheap Amazon projectors fool you. This projector at 2900 lumens WAY outshined the WiMiUS projector I bought that claimed to be 9000 lumes (theres a 0% change it was anywhere near 9000 lumens - more like 1200-1500 tops.) With projectors, you get what you pay for. If your plan is to get a movie quality experience in your living room, DO NOT go cheap. Get an Epson or something name brand.

We are extremely pleased with this home cinema. The picture is bright and clear, even when the room is not totally dark. It is a huge improvement over our former home cinema projector. We highly recommend it!

My TV is LG OLED and old projector is Optoma HD39Darbee. After I purchased OLED tv, I could not watch Optoma 1080p projector anymore. Enter Epson 3800. Now I do have a choice, I like both options, depending on the mood. What is interesting is that Epson3800s info section says it is 4K resolution projector. I tried ``True 4K Optoma Uhd38 and its info section says it is 1080p. HD39Darbee is actually better UHD38 in color and the resolution perception for me. But Epson 3800 is a principally refinement and is a clear motivation for me to move into the 4K area of projectors. The colors are outstanding, the resolution is excellent for me, not annoying, it definitely provides a 3D feeling to the 4K HDR picture. The setup is OK, a lot of lens shifting. So, if someone wants to move into the 4K area of projectors, Epson 3800 is my first recommendation (if not to look into $5000+ area).

Heavy nice projector. The brightness is perfect which allows you not to have to sit in complete darkness to see a nice picture. Just plug it in and start watching movies. I recommend that you use high quality HDMI cables to get the best picture. I upgraded my Verizon cable box to 4K and could not get a picture and the same with my 4K DVD player. I tried everything but Epson support helped and suggested changing the cables and it worked perfectly. It turned out that cables that were installed in the theater room when the house was built (8 years ago) were out dated.

This projector came packaged in a very odd way. The projector was listed as new but clearly it had either been used or unpacked from its original packaging and repackaged in other boxes/materials. I feel like we overpaid for it considering the condition it was delivered in but overall the projector seems to work fine. A few minor glitches but the picture quality is great so were keeping it.

There’s nothing quite like seeing a classic epic film on the big screen, but this projector makes it possible to come as close as you can at home. It’s not too heavy or too big, so you can either permanently set it up or bring it out as needed for movie night or the big game. The picture is great and compatible with 4K for the highest quality video you can have.

Wow, this with a 100 inch screen and ceiling mount is fab. Really great for movie night at home. Buy it, you will love it. Really awesome picture. I use a home theater Dolby receiver with nice speakers and a large sub so don’t use the project sound at all.

Back in the 1990s and 2000s I had several Epson projectors and generally they were refurbished units. They all performed very well and I could see no difference in quality from a new unit. This year I have tried two Epson products, the LS300 ultra short throw and this unit the Home Cinema 3800 and both were refurbished and both had issues and were defective. The 3800 has bad and crackling speakers and when they did so, it would cause the image to flicker. Also the video playback would randomly shut off by itself and the unit would power down. Also the remote would not power down the unit. In order to turn it off, you had to turn it off at the unit. Also the 4k image quality has not as expected. The black levels were not good. There were no blacks just light greys. Black levels were far better on SD but still not great. 4k playback looked very good in bright scenes and dismal in dark scenes. This was actually the same with the LS300 which had an alleged contrast ratio or 1000,000:1 but it looked more like 5000:1. Maybe this was due to the units being refurbished but possible Epson is simply not what it used to be.
