Epson Home Cinema 3200 4K PRO-UHD 3-Chip Projector with HDR

At First, I will be honest, after reading a lot of reviews and having this show up brand new with 2 small pits and a scratch on a brand new lens with a premium price, I was a bit ...concerned. HOWEVER, I set it up anyway, (after using a new lens cloth I use for photography to wipe what I thought at first was maybe a small streak of oil or something from the manufacturing process). -Imean, it comes with a lens cap. O_o? How in the name of all that is holy or monstrous can you not perhaps be gentle with optics during assembly or handling or Even QC and not notice a pretty decent scratch on a brand new UHD projectors MAIN OUTPUT METHOD.? Ugh.. But, with all that said, I turned it on and tried to find any aberrations with the picture using various methods and all I got was delicious eye candy. And, as this projector gives you 3 settings of brightness, after switching to the already quiet, stock Medium setting to ECO, it was downright silent. ( Projector was set up -just- behind my head as well for testing purposes ). It is a Very bright, crisp and silent projector. The very first day I had it on and was focusing it, I did notice once the center was in perfect clear focus, the right bottom side of the screen was just slightly not. But, having used the Epson 9200 Pro and loving that for nearly 5 years, I gave this new beast a try. Somehow, after 4 hours of use on the first day, the second day I had a hard time trying to find the once a little softer parts of the screen. * I have Zero Idea if burn-in applies to projectors of this sort with the sensor or other elements, but the slightly softer right bottom side cleared up and all I got was an extremely beautiful and engaging 4K picture with wonderful contrast and an extremely quiet and quick auto iris for even deeper blacks. ~Joy~ I ran through a bunch of basic tests using both video and Xbox One X games and just got lost in the detail and rendering of what the console and Projector are capable of. It is, for sure, a treat for the eyes. Current screen is matte white, 100 at about 11ft (in a light controlled room), but zoomed as large as it could go just to check pixels and it was still crisp and clear and looked like a 100 , 200LB 4K led display. . . but this you can throw in a large backpack and not hire a crew to move it. ~ Also Joy ~ SO, in short, I have no regrets purchasing this and am still sort of in awe of the overall quality upgrade. Im still a bit unsure about the process of out-the-door QC at that particular plant, but truth be told, ~ Unlike a camera lens Receiving light Into it, perhaps shooting light Out of a lens at a distance of 10 - 15+ ft onto a screen/wall is a completely different animal. And perhaps Epson knows this. (?) Thankfully, and weirdly, it does not effect picture. No idea why. But, I do start my new job as a Rocket Surgeon soon so maybe will have some answers then. I have no plans to return it as it otherwise works flawlessly so far. So even with the slight blemish, shes a keeper ;)

Back in the 1990s and 2000s I had several Epson projectors and generally they were refurbished units. They all performed very well and I could see no difference in quality from a new unit. This year I have tried two Epson products, the LS300 ultra short throw and this unit the Home Cinema 3800 and both were refurbished and both had issues and were defective. The 3800 has bad and crackling speakers and when they did so, it would cause the image to flicker. Also the video playback would randomly shut off by itself and the unit would power down. Also the remote would not power down the unit. In order to turn it off, you had to turn it off at the unit. Also the 4k image quality has not as expected. The black levels were not good. There were no blacks just light greys. Black levels were far better on SD but still not great. 4k playback looked very good in bright scenes and dismal in dark scenes. This was actually the same with the LS300 which had an alleged contrast ratio or 1000,000:1 but it looked more like 5000:1. Maybe this was due to the units being refurbished but possible Epson is simply not what it used to be.

Product worked fine, until it stopped working after four months of use. After a month of calls and e-mails to Epson, they refused to honor their warranty, claiming that DIGJUNGLE was a third party seller through Amazon, and that DIGJUNGLE was responsible for the warranty. I contacted DIGJUNGLE, and two and a half weeks later, they replied requesting the product serial number which I sent them. It has been two another weeks with no reply either from DIGJUNGLE or Amazon. I am stuck with an $1,800 projector that wont work and no further recourse. Am disappointed Amazon, DIGJUNGLE, and especially Epson.

I have had many projectors over the years but let me say right now with all honesty Epsom has some of the best I have used in my lifetime. I have seen and installed some very high end units and this one shines in comparison to any I have seen. Install is straight forward, picture quality is amazing, plan out your setup ahead of time and it is super smooth. I set up a 130inch screen and hung the projector from the ceiling. The options are endless and even though I have used this for at least 40 hours already I have yet to explore everything this can do. I am very satisfied with this epson projector, and will happily reccomend it to anyone. This is cutting edge tech, ability to project 4k in itself is huge, then you think about the wireless technology, bluetooth connectivity, and the 3d availability, the list goes on and on. If you are in the market I strongly suggest you give this a look

Excellent color, contrast and brightness. Input lag is good enough for console gamers. The ECO mode is quite. I like 3LCD projector more than DLP projector. They have better color and contrast. If you are like me, looking for a 3LCD projector, for movies and gaming, and 4K, Epson product line is definitely what you can’t miss. And this one, HC3800, is the best at $1000-$2000. I love it! (This is a late review. I bought the projector one year ago. I’ve been enjoying it for the past whole year. I am so glad that I did a right decision a year ago)

I mostly watch movies, youtube. I had a optoma hd28darbee that was great for games and pretty good for movies and then it failed. I tried one of the optoma laser projectors hz39hdr and the color was horrible way washed out. I looked out of the box and noticed just how good the picture was on the Epson 3800…. WOW incredible color, and detail. In fact it has the best image I have ever seen period!! Only drawbacks when switching inputs it can be slow and buggy so make sure if using a receiver with 4k hdmi switching, you have all the firmware updates done. Also games did look a bit better (sharper) with optoma however with some adjustments and just how good it looks with uhd4k movies I will except that. I mean it looks so good I stayed up to 2am just watching uhd4k content on youtube etc, amazing !!! Buy it you will love it!!!

I recently replaced by 11 year old Mitsubishi projector with the Epson 3200 for my media room. However, after a short time I decided to return the 3200 due to internal dust on the lens and dissatisfaction with the black (or in this case gray) levels. I then upgraded to the 3800 and I am extremely happy. The contrast improvement between the 3200 and 3800 was immediately noticeable. The colors, contrast and sharpness are fantastic. While this is not a true 4k projector, it is miles ahead of my old Mitsubishi projector and an improvement over the Epson 3200.

There’s nothing quite like seeing a classic epic film on the big screen, but this projector makes it possible to come as close as you can at home. It’s not too heavy or too big, so you can either permanently set it up or bring it out as needed for movie night or the big game. The picture is great and compatible with 4K for the highest quality video you can have.

I almost didn’t pick up this projector due to repeated concerns about focus uniformity. I’ve had no issue whatsoever with this. I think it may be because I didn’t require a ton of vertical or horizontal lens shift though I did use it. This picture is bright enough to be serviceable in a room with three windows during the day and when the lights go out it’s truly special. The contrast is truly phenomenal. Does it have OLED blacks? No. But I’ve got a 100” image and it’s a more beautiful picture than any modern tv I have in my home. I’d be shocked if you could find anything better for a similar use case for $1500 refurbished (what I paid.) If you don’t want to pay $3000 this is a great projector for you.
