EyezOn Envisalink EVL-4EZR IP Security Interface Module for DSC and Honeywell (Ademco) Security Systems, Compatible with Alexa

I monitor my alarm system through email and a cell phone- this device sends messages indicating changes in alarm status such as arming/disarming, disconnect as a consequence of black out or disconnected internet. You can even determine what circuit is a problem if the alarm goes off.

Without paying $5/month the iphone app is very crippled. You basically need to carry the full programming instruction manual with and type in long sequences to do much with the app unless you pay up. Something as simple as setting it to stay armed (when the system requires a code) doesnt seem to be doable without remembering a star code. I certainly understand an extra charge for central monitoring, but not for basic app features many of which dont seem to need any type of additional cloud server assistance. We bought the device, now let us use it. Thank you.

I purchased this unit to upgrade a Vista 20P panel to support IP communication with the central station. The Envisalink has exceeded my expectations. For no monthly fee, my panel now texts and pings me via the EyezOn app when the system is armed/disarmed. When the alarm triggers, my phone notifies me with a police siren sound. There is the ability to have central station monitoring for less than $10/mo. Installation is a breeze if you installed your panel yourself. Just connect the Envisalink to the Vista 20P thru the 4 keypad connectors, assign it to an open keypad address, and plug in a ethernet cable. There are about 10 settings they recommend you change on your Vista 20P (for reporting open/closed zones) and all are documented clearly in the very concise installation instructions. Highly recommended if you installed your own system. If you did not install the system yourself and are not familiar with entering the programming menu (installer code + 800) then suggest you have a professional install, as you may run into some difficulty. This is a great piece of equipment. Gives full remote access including bypassing zones via mobile app or website. The Alexa integration is one the best I’ve used. Alexa allows arming away, arming stay, disarming (she asks for your code everytime), and arming status. The Alexa commands are short and simple. Alexa also adds your door and window contacts as devices in the Echo app. You can ask Alexa if they are open. I suspect these could be good triggers for Alexa routines. The app and website aren’t the most visually appealing, but they get the job done. Considering there is no subscription fee, I think the functionality is extremely impressive. The installation on a Honeywell requires learning some programming, but if you are ordering this you’re probably a gadget nerd and you’ll enjoy it. You WILL need a 6160 keypad in order to do the programming. It’s easy to swap out if you don’t already have one. I’m glad it was required. It motivated me to label my zones inside the system and now I don’t have to reference a zone list to know what zones are open. In the end you’ll spend a few hours installing, programming, and fine tuning , but you’ll love the end result and function you’ll gain.
