> 3 dayThese have quickly become my favorite pencils. I have purchased at least nine different brands of colored pencils. These were the most expensive, but work the best as far as I can tell. My favorite part is how they glide across the page, leaving lovely color. Currently I’m just using pencils for adult coloring books and some with intricate designs. These are overkill as far as price just for coloring, but I do plan to use these for my own drawings at some point. I will point out, that because these pencils are creamy and soft, they are not the best for intricate designs because you can’t get a sharp firm point like you can with other color pencils.

> 3 dayI am so happy with these, I ordered the 36 pack and am sending this one to a friend of mine who also enjoys adult colouring books. The colours are vibrant and go on so beautifully and if you wish, you can layer them as stated without risk of bloom. I like Prismacolor pencils too and had always used those in the past but I think I prefer the texture of these oil based pencils. Its nice to have both brands in my stash of art supplies. These are well worth the price and in fact, Amazon has the best price I could find.

> 3 dayAs a life long artist and fan of coloring I use colored pencils quite a bit as my medium of choice. I am also am admitted pencil hoarder and have tried several dozens of different brands trying to find the perfect pencil, and while I have come close to finding it on a few occasions I often felt I was missing out on the professional pencils I used during my art school years which were Faber Castells. I purchased this smaller tin set before splurging for the 120 set to be sure that these would be what I long remembered, in fact they are. These pencils, like so many artists and colorists describe, are really soft and buttery to use. The cores are durable and retain a nice point when compared to the softer counter part brands which are wax based. These sharpen without any issues, the tips do not break when using a sharp, clean blade, quality pencil sharpener. Because these are oil based cores and are hard so to speak they produce more color with less lead than wax based cores, in other words my comparable name brand wax brands and not so name brands are constantly needing sharpened which in turn ends up wasting lead, these pencils do not. These pencils do lay down well and blend quite well, colors are rich and vibrant, and even with a small set of 12, you can obtain many different hues and or colors by layering. There is no doubt that this is the best professional set of pencils to own. Pricey? Yes, but worth every single penny. I am so happy with these pencils that I purchased the 120 set and cant wait for it to arrive. It is worth noting that working with quality oil based pencil is a different experience than wax based and so if you are in doubt I do suggest you purchase the 12 count tin set for yourself and see if you enjoy them as much as I and thousands of others do.

> 3 dayI purchased these recently along with several coloring books. I had been using Prismacolors, but when I started watching tutorials on YouTube, I was these pencils mentioned quite often so I decided to try them out. I was unsure at first if I preferred them or the Prismacolors, but after completing a few coloring pages I definitely think the Polychromos win out. They are very easy to blend, and dont have the same waxy build up that the Prismacolors do. If you purchase these pencils be sure to also get a nice sharp pencil sharpener or you will not be able to get a good tip.

> 3 dayWow! I have worked with different colored pencils through out the years. My favorite ones for the past 20 years were Prismacolor pencils till now. It is really frustrating as an artist when your pencils keep breaking, especially when said pencils are expensive and some colors are hard to find for replacing. NOT with Faber Castel Polychromos; I have not had any problems at all with these pencils. I love how Polychromos pencils retain a sharper point for longer. I also love that when I am done coloring it does not look waxy. I find blending them much easier too. My only problem is that I want more than a 120 colors! I do not even care that they cost more price wise than Prismacolor pencils because I know they will last far longer and in my opinion look better. Wish I would have tried these pencils a long time ago!

21-11-2024This was my first time ever using Faber Castell Polychromos Pencils and was I ever amazed. It was hard to spend this much money on colored pencils, but I am very pleased that I did. I do not have to use a blender with these pencils and I do not have to apply as much product to the paper as I do with other pencils, so you do get your moneys worth. They are super colorful and so smooth, but not waxy smooth. It is a creamy smooth, which makes it very enjoyable to use. I will cherish these and use them as my dominant coloring tool. Love them!!!!!@
