Nice pencils for adult coloring books. The set covers a pretty wide range of colors. Lays down smoothly. Attractive packaging. I would recommend these pencils.

After much research, I decided on the Faber Castell Polychromos Colored Pencils (120 set). Although I am not a professional artist, but a hobby card maker, I find these pencils to be an excellent quality! Blending or building colors on one another works very well and using the white/cream pencils to create some highlights work great too. I understand paper/cardstock types can make a big difference when using pencils -- something with more tooth is preferable. The pencils stay fairly sharp after several uses, nice quality lead and barrel, and they fit in your hand nicely as well.

I bought these to try out after watching a YouTube video of an artist reviewing the polychormos and the prismacolors. When this artist started explaining her problems with prismacolors (cant hold a point, if you drop them, sometimes the WHOLE long lead falls out of the wood, sharpening is also a pain due to that problem) - I felt validated. I thought I was just handling them correctly, or I had a bad batch, or something. Then she moved on to the polychromos and gave them rave reviews. Able to blend better, she was able to get the color she had in her mind using the polys. I am not a professional artist, I like to read art theory and techniques, then try them out. You can build more layers on top of each other with the polys without the waxbloom like the prismas. They sharpen easily and you are able to put some pressure on the tip without fear it will break off. They are expensive for just someone like me (not an artist or student), but I like them, so Im willing to pay extra.

These are as great as everyone says! Even with 120 colors, I seem to need basic tan and very deep red/purples. Prismacolor has the reds/purples, but I cannot find the tans. I use these with Prismacolor pencils. These hold their point longer and dont break as easily as Prismacolor. The best investment I have made is a School Smart Electric sharpener. It makes all the difference in the world!

These are great coloring pencils. If you use a sharp point of the pencil, you can get dark and vibrant colors; if you use a blunt point or the side of the pencil, you can get lighter shades. The colors are lovely and are oil based, so you can use baby oil and a paintbrush with them. I bought the set of 36, but if I had to do it all over again, I would have gone for the size somewhere between that and 120. If I were a real artist, Id definitely have gone with the 120 set. Only thing I dont like is the tin which didnt open easily from day one. I had to put duct tape on the inside edge of the tin lid and more duct tape on the bottom lid just to get the darn thing open. Yeah, really annoying considering how much you pay for these.

They are very nice pencils. I own a large amount of Prismacolors, the whole set Caran dAche Luminance, some Derwent coloursofts and Koh i noor polycolors, so didnt need any more colored pencils. But I wanted these and am glad I got them. They feel different from the other pencils I own and lay down color differently.. The Koh-i-noor polycolors feel closest to them, but these feel like a bit higher quality. Its a more substantial pencil and you can feel the difference in the quality of the wood. They are harder than wax-based, but lay down color silkily. I wanted them more for the different feel than because the colors are different/ I like the way they layer. Of course one can use all these together. The lightfastness of most of the pencils is a plus. I think the pencils you prefer to use depends on a lot of different factors and your favorite pencils may not be my favorite pencils. I would say, Caran dache Luminance are the highest quality that I own. But these are a very good second.

It is actually my first time to use professional color pencils. I was super excited on the day that the package was delivered. this set of color pencils is incredibly beautiful!! And you would definitely smell their rich fragrance when you open the case!!! I am very unprofessional and I never learned any drawing lessons but these pencils are pretty easy to control and brought all effects that I expected! You can easily overlay as many colors as you can and the whole picture would still look so natural and smooth! I never tried other brands so I wont say Faber castell has the best color pencils but they are excellent!! So glad I chose to purchase this as my first set of color pencils!!! You can see how amazing the effects these pencils made according to the following photos that I attached. The only downside is that this brand seems to miss some very basic colors so it may take time to combine more than two colors to find the exact color you want. Besides this, they are perfect!!! I will try color pencils from other brands in order to make a comparison :)

Received some unexpected birthday money, so I finally took the plunge and splurged on a set of Polychromos pencils. I received them about five days after I ordered. They shipped from India and I actually panicked thinking I was going to get a fake set, but lo and behold, they are the real deal. Package was triple (or more) wrapped in bubble wrap, factory box was sealed. The tin was still in the shrink wrap and undamaged. Inside, a few pencils were chipped, which was expected and not excessive. Overall, I am thrilled. When swatching the pencils, I noticed the extreme smoothness. Someone commented that these pencils are not as buttery smooth as Prismacolors, but I have to disagree as theyre the smoothest pencils to color with that Ive ever had my hands on! The few I needed to sharpen only needed a few turns of the sharpener to get a very sharp point. I will be coloring a page this weekend to officially try them out. A big thanks to the seller for how fast it was shipped out and for the excellent protective packaging.

I bought these as a birthday gift to myself, of sorts. Im not a professional artist but I am a graphic design student who draws on a pretty much daily basis. I was upgrading from a 36ct set of Prismacolors. I am amazed. They blend absolutely beautifully, the colors are vivid, and the pencils themselves are sturdy - which, as a former Prismacolor user, is a blessing. They feel so luxurious. I can layer these a lot more than my Prismacolors as well, so I can attain a dynamic, brilliant color with ease. My only dislike is the white pencil. Its pretty transparent, so I usually use my Prismacolor white instead. speaking of which, they layer well with Prismacolors too. these are my new favorites. Ive been making excuses to draw with them. 10/10 would buy again.

I really love these pencils. They are my very favorite brand of wax based colored pencils and work very well together with the harder oil based Pablo pencils, and the Museum Aquarelles, also made by Caran dAche. The name luminance aptly describes these pencils, as anything colored with them seem to look illuminated from within, rather than leaving a flattened out look that harder tipped pencils can sometimes leave. I like to use my Luminance for most of my color blocking, and then the Pablos to finish filling in the tooth of the paper in selective areas, then a final burnish with their blender pencil. They also allow you to create a really beautiful, natural look by using the Aquarelles for your first few layers (which provide a very lovely soft matte finish), then laying down the final layers of color with the Luminance, which is a particularly beautiful combination. The box is so beautifully designed to protect each pencil, it is such a pleasure to hold them in your hands and color with them. Each color has its own recipe for the binder to insure that every pencil has the same hardness, the company never uses cheap fillers, the pigments are sourced exclusively from Germany and Switzerland, and they are particular known for their range of neutral colors (perfect for portraits, landscapes etc.)
