> 3 dayThese pencils are one of my favourites. I started off with a smaller set of Faber-Castell Polychromos and knew right away that I had to have this complete set. This set has a beautiful array of colors, alot to choose from. They color so smooth and easily, with both soft and hard application. I have only experienced lead breakage on a couple faulty pencils. It seems that the lead is broken inside the wood casing, which can be irritating when you have started a project with that color and it continues to break as you sharpen it. I have not contacted Faber-Castell about this yet, but hope when I do, they have good customer service. The tin these pencils come in is sturdy and has a hinged lid with 3 trays that have individual slots for each pencil, and are removable. Each tray has bands/handles on both ends that make it easy to lift the trays out and that also lay flat when stacking the trays, or when putting them back in the tin. Even though these pencils are a bit high in price, I feel they are worth every penny when comparing them to cheaper brand pencils that tend to break often or that dont color as well and results in using up their lead too quickly. I highly recommend Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils to anyone looking for a quality pencil.

> 3 dayUsing these pencils have taken my art to the next level. still have a set of prisma colors and I still love my Staedtler Noris eco-pencils ... honestly I havent used the last two in a couple of months although they are good for layering with my FC Polychromos- I dont know where one goes from here? Just use and replace use and replace using replace and create create create! Go with the German made pencils make sure that what you buy is actually made in Germany or Holland or Czech- beware the fakes and the Indonesian market – thats all I have to say about this – I even drive a Volkswagen so…

> 3 dayThese color pencils are great. The pigments are nice & vibrant. Theyre easy to sharpen without lots of splintering or breaking. Coloring with them whether using soft or hard pressure theres not a lot of crumbing. I received them as described, great condition. I received them quickly which was great & Theyre a great value. Recommend for sure, thank you!!

> 3 dayI am like so many who have fallen prey to the addiction of coloring. I have spent money on a bunch of different utensils and coloring supplies. I did my research and finally took the plunge and purchased the Faber Castell polychromos. First let me say that the array of colors are a dream. I also have the 48 set of Prisma pencils. In comparison when blending and shading the polys take a bit of practice. The pencils have a more rigid tip and you can build by applying pressure or layers. The blending is beautiful and rich in colors but I will admit I love the buttery creaminess of the Prisma pencils. But... the issue with Prisma is that they tend to get a waxy finish when blending. You will not have this issue with the polys. The Polys are oil based and give a professional finish. The Polys also sharpen much easier and the firm tips do not break as easily as the Prismas so I feel they will last longer. Again, I am not an artist just a new very enthusiastic coloring addict!

> 3 dayI got these to see if the quality would be worth purchasing a full set. It would not be worth it or me. But the smaller set is ok.

> 3 dayThese pencils are as wonderful as everyone says. I read a ton of reviews before buying because I am no artist so any investment in quality materials has to pay off in pure personal pleasure and satisfaction. Everything I read said they are wonderful, but I started with the small set of 12 anyway. I wanted to see if the pencil quality would encourage me to draw more. The quality does! I would love to have bought the set of 60 or even 120. I can already see from the greatly increased time I am spending drawing that that day will come. I enjoy using these pencils so much more than other colored pencils Ive tried. The color lays down beautifully. Its easy to achieve effects from translucent through saturated and opaque. No bloom because they are not wax based. Just outstanding in every way!

Greater than one weekBlend wonderfully and have a fantastic range of colors! My go-to for colored pencils, and I would definitely recommend these over prismacolor pencils. The tips hold a point, are less prone to breaking in the sharpener, and layer over each other much nicer. They take some getting used to if you are only experienced with wax based colored pencils, but these dont have a layer limit where you cant get any more pigment to stay on the paper, and look fantastic when blended with odorless spirits.

> 3 dayI just tested these out and I love the way they feel and perform. They are more sturdy and well made compared to prisma. They lay down just the same except that prismas points dont last as long and wittle down much faster and polys have a diff feel and a rich color/oil saturation. I dont want to go through too many details because from google, youtube, and many reviewers it becomes a broken record honestly. They both are great brands and perform well. Prismas wood casing is sensitive so I can see why people would transfer to Polys aside from the two diff mediums. Prisma colors are more vivid and vibrant. They are both good but if your on a budget then go with Prisma. The colors in the polys set reminds me of when I oil paint, the colors just look rich and very nice if that is the finish you want. I ordered Caran Dache next. Guess I am putting them all to the test and only time will tell. Also the Caran Dache blender performs much better than the prisma blender with these. I also bought a new sharpener so I will update my reviews once I get settled in as I bought too many things all at once (wink wink). FYI: Colors included in the 12 set are:white, cadmium yellow, dark cadmium orange, deep scarlet red, magenta, phthalo blue, light ultramarine, light green, emerald green, burn ochre, walnut brown, and black. IDK if the sets are random but if someone else gets other colors other than what I have listed, please leave a comment to let us know. ;O) Update: I love the way these colors lay and the bloom you get from wax makes these more desirable! I attached a pic using these and since I was limited to only 12 colors I chose one of the undesirable pages of a coloring book just so I could fit 12 colors. The background was prisma premiers but the rabbit was done using 12 polys and no blender. The hawk was done using prisma, polys, and Caran Da luminance.

> 3 dayThese have quickly become my favorite pencils. I have purchased at least nine different brands of colored pencils. These were the most expensive, but work the best as far as I can tell. My favorite part is how they glide across the page, leaving lovely color. Currently I’m just using pencils for adult coloring books and some with intricate designs. These are overkill as far as price just for coloring, but I do plan to use these for my own drawings at some point. I will point out, that because these pencils are creamy and soft, they are not the best for intricate designs because you can’t get a sharp firm point like you can with other color pencils.

Greater than one weekI am very pleased with my polychromos colored pencils. I have seen reviews about dented tins and double printed pencils so people were sure these were fake. Mine came with a dented tin and one pencil printed with both prints on one side. I was skeptical myself then. Worried that I had thrown my money away I went to a quality Art store and bought six various single polychromos pencils to do a comparison. The paint placement of bands writing and writing itself matched perfectly. Then as you can see by the photos the actual pigment was a perfect match and had the same smooth lay down with the same pressure required. They after obviously genuine Faber-Castell polychromos pencils. Most likely the reduction in price is due to the imperfections of dented tins and imperfect printing which is why I still have these five stars. I dont mind these few things for getting such a high quality pencil at a much lower price. If the imperfections bother you buy them from an art store. Hope this helps put your mind to rest about buying these. It did mine. In no way is the quality of the pencil affected here.
