> 3 dayMe gusta viajar en motocicleta y siempre he traído uno conmigo, me siento más seguro para un caso de emergencia y sobre todo si no hay señal de celular. Además en casa saben en donde ando. Requiere suscripción de servicio.

> 3 dayMy parents got this from me for Christmas knowing I hike and fish and recently had a heart attack. I am not in any way unfamiliar with technology. Im a software engineer and have been building computers and using electronics my entire life.

> 3 dayThis was definitely one of the worst purchases I made in a long time. The entire device is poorly conceived and executed. The screen belongs on a cellphone in 1995, and there are about 3 total buttons to perform all of the functions.

> 3 dayOne of the worst product experiences of my life with this garmin inreach. Capped off with THE WORST customer service Ive ever experienced. Absolutely shocked at Garmins terrible customer service. Cant overstate this - they are terrible.

> 3 dayBack in my day, you went to the backcountry prepared to save your life without help. As in, we had wilderness first aid training, backup water purification, knew orienteering, guarded the topo maps like our firestarters, knew exactly how many calories wed packed so we could stand delays, learned to read clouds and fronts, etc. Also, daily checkins were a ridiculous concept. This was the 90s, an era of rugged disconnection.

> 3 dayI bought the inReach Mini after a lot of research, wanted to take it on a 2 week backpacking trip through Colombia. Activation cost me a total of $76.15 ($11.95 monthly plan with annual contract, $29.95 activation fee, $29.95 rescue insurance for a year, plus taxes and fees).

Greater than one weekYes, its expensive but honestly, I am really glad I got it. I mostly do solo backcountry camping in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta. My wife worries about me, so being able to send her check in messages is great. My favorite spot is fairly isolated and has zero cell service, so if I find myself in a jam, I am confident that it would save my butt.

> 3 dayWonderful gps for remote tracking plus message capabilities. Not super high tech, kinda Stone Age-ish but worth the money for connectivity where nothing else works.

> 3 dayThis thing is great. Ive managed to send texts from inside my tent. Sometimes it does take a while though. Also the battery goes fast if you leave it on. Its more of a turn it on when you need it type of device. I use a Garmin instinct for gps. The inreach is more of a safety and communication device. Its also nice for checking the weather.

> 3 dayWould I buy it again? For the first unit I had I said, Not if I could find something more reliable. The replacement works well, so, yes I would buy it again. I still bring my ACR PLB . After multiple problems with the first unit I bought and calls to Garmin support, they, after some cajoling, sent me a new unit. It works. It does not mysteriously periodically drain the battery and the GPS syncs much more quickly than the first unit that was almost certainly defective.
