I have no idea why we waited so long to get this incredible device. Aside from being able to stay in touch, the peace of mind having and emergency out provides a sense of piece when in the backcountry that can only be experienced, and not fully explained.

Works good... but offline maps don’t download correctly

My grandson said it’s perfect for hiking and climbing. He takes it with every adventure!

I apologize if this gets too long but some of you may benefit from my experience if you are on the fence about the inReach Mini.

This is one of the best things I’ve put on my boat! I am cruising the Caribbean and this allows friends and family to watch a live map feed of my progress. I opted for the unlimited texting plan, so I receive weather updates and frequent texts from friends anywhere I am sailing. The battery lasts for more than 36 hours, but I just leave it plugged in. Also, initially, I hung it outside. But I’ve found it works just fine sitting under a window inside the boat. Much cheaper than a satellite phone but does enough for my purposes. The web links and set up can be a bit confusing but with time it works well.

Unfortunately this product is not working for us. We have a cabin in National Forest on a river. I bought it for my husband to use when he is fly fishing alone. The tree cover here does not allow connection with satellite. By moving around to other areas , satellite can eventually be reached but that defeats the purpose should he fall and injure himself.

I love this little device. We love hiking off the grid, and needed something to keep in touch as well as call someone in an emergency. This device fit the bill. I feel so much safer.

I am an avid hiker but also disabled. Since I’m often out of cell tower reach purchasing this has become my lifeline. It frees me from only hiking in more populated areas and has dramatically improved my lifestyle and adventures. It is very lightweight, well designed and is perfect just about anywhere.

I purchased this for an overland trip through BLM land in Southern Utah (Grand Staircase, Alstom Point), about 100 miles of off roading and hiking.
