08-06-2025Hitachi brand is the most reliable hard drive, but this one is really noisy. Just had this one installed and seems to working OK, just hope we can get a few years use out of it.

> 3 dayEXCELLENT VALUE for a high-quality 2 TB drive, even though you only get a 1-year warranty from the seller (not the manufacturer). My research leads me to believe that this drive has a better chance for long life and reliability, compared to your typical consumer-grade drive. The Hitachi bare hard drive arrived _extremely_ quickly from goHardDrive (across the country) and arrived safely. Packaging was a complete layer of _big_ bubble wrap around the drives anti-static bag, put inside a cardboard box, then another layer of big bubble wrap around the box, all inside a Priority Mail bubble wrap envelope. To me, it seems like quite an effective technique. Although I havent subjected the drive to the stress tests other reviewers have, Ive copied and read a ton of data to/from it, and it has performed perfectly. If I decide I need another 2 TB drive, I will definitely buy another from goHardDrive.

Greater than one weekIve ordered a lot of these, and all but one have failed within a year. Over the past few months, I have ordered three of them. Two were DOA. The third lasted a week. Note that these went into a RAID 5 enclosure.

Greater than one weekHARD DRIVE RUNS AT 53C WHEN NOT UNDER LOAD, WHICH GREATLY SHORTENS THE LIFESPAN. YOU MUST BUY A FAN WITH THIS PRODUCT, AND POINT IT DIRECTLY AT THE HARD DRIVE ENCLOSURE, OR ELSE YOUR HARD DRIVE WILL FAIL. NOT RECOMMENDED PURCHASE. ... On the bright side, after 3 years of continuous use with a fan, the hard drive continues to run.
