HGST/Hitachi (HUA723020ALA641) Ultrastar 7K3000 2TB 64MB 7200RPM 3.5 (Enterprise Grade) SATA III 6.0Gb/s Hard Drive

Purchased / Installed November 2014. Its March 2016 and the drive is dead !!!

This is a first day review of the 2TB HGST. Quiet and runs cool. Downside is 130 GB unavailable prior to formatting and partitioning. Thats a lot of missing space. I expect this drive will perform very well.

Work great in my Raid 5 setup. Running 24/7 for months and no errors. Highly recommend.

Product Comments: Product itself is high quality, sequential write for empty disk tops out at 150+MB/s at the outside down to about 115MB/s at the inside of the spindles. The disk is an enterprise drive and has no Acoustic Management; when you have random read/writes the heads repositioning is noticeably audible. Seller Comments: Seller - goHardDrive All interaction with the seller was excellent, however: Drives have 1 year _Vendor_ warranty. Checking the serial at HGST yields a response to contact the vendor, ie. no manufacturer warranty. Both drives I received had previous SMART self tests at 8000-9000 hours, yet drive reports 0 hours of service. All other SMART data was clear leading me to wonder these drives have been previously used and cleared by TTL command. Single drives from seller come in small USPS Priority Mail box with double layer of bubble wrap and sealed anti-static bag, this is a bit sparse on padding. First drive I received failed after 11 hours of burn-in testing -wonder if shipping was to blame. Seller did respond promptly for RMA; offered pre-paid return shipping and full refund (or optional replacement). Replacement drive passed burn-in without trouble and is currently in duty.

Dead at 1yr 1mon from date of purchase. Date on HD is DEC-2010, I purchased on 5-17-16. but was sold as new? Manufacturer warranty expired in 2012.

plug and play in windows 7 just had to go in to computer management ,disk management and set up. works great.

The drives (Hitachi Ultrastar 7K3000) are like new and they all scan and NTFS formatted perfectly. They sound and perform just like any other 7200 RPM server-grade hard drive out there.

Hitachi Ultrastar 2TB HDD Enterprise class 7200RPM this is very used but inexpensive. Mine fired right up, been using it everyday for months, runs quiet and reliable, no problems. I may order some more of these, very low price for a quality piece. They will probably outlast the cheap and popular, but poorly made new drives many seem to buy from the big 2 makers. Recommended...
