As advertised, shipped fast, arrived OK.

1 of 2 drives failed within 8 months of easy (rarely power or thermal cycle) use. Warranty replacement unclear.

Drives are USED! I did a SMART test and looked at the reports. All 5 drives I bought were used, each with over 10,000 hours. All had been reset so that the SMART Power_On_Hours read zero. Looking at the SMART self test log, I could see that offline self tests had been performed - one test on one drive was at 20,000 hours! Purchased / Installed November 2014. Its March 2016 and the drive is dead !!!

The drive was recognized by BIOS at lease, but got the warning at the BIOS screen. Hard disk failure is imminent. Please, backup up your hard drive and have it replaced ! I ordered the replacement with the same drive and hope that I have better luck with the replacement. Anyway, dont choose to chat with a tech during return process. I had the worst experience this time.

hitachi drives are simply the best, see my other reviews of them. i have over 70 x hitachi drives running 24/7 and little on no failures!

I have reviewed on-line post regarding comparison of Hitachi drives (1 to 5 year) failure study and the Hitachi series out-last all the other major hard drive manufacturers. As long as Hitachi keeps up this standard they will always have my money for my ZFS servers.

Two of these in RAID0 makes for a fast, reliable and fairly low cost 4 TB solution. Working well after a week. . . Ive used Hatachi drives for years happily.
