After only a few uses, the paper feeder stopped working, so now I have to manually feed each sheet at just the right moment or else start all over again. I would not buy this printer again.

This printer installed easily and functions nicely in every way. My only complaint is that the ink cartridges, while very inexpensive, contain very little ink. If youre doing occasional printing, scanning or copying this is a great printer. If you expect to print more than 1000 pages per month, be prepared to change the cartridge as often as your undies. Did I mention that its a fine printer?

I spent more than a week trying to get the HP PSC 1510 installed on my Win98SE system without success. My computer is a P3-866 with 128MB RAM, which does meet the system requirements. I made many attempts at installing the software and uninstalling, re-installing, etc. The install of the software always appeared to go OK and the All-in-One was detected by Windows and several drivers were loaded. However, after everything was done and Windows was restarted the 1510 was not listed as an available printer when either printing a document or under Settings / Control Pannel / Printers. HP email tech support tried to help and even wrote back once asking if earlier tips they had given had worked. But I eventually just got fed up and decided to return the PSC 1510 to Amazon. At least the return to Amazon was quick and without hassle. UPS even came direct to my door to pick up the package at no charge. I was pleased with the results of the test scans I made. The no-PC color copying was also quick and of good quality. However, since I could not print, I decided to give this printer one star. I will now be trying a Lexmark, probably a X6150. From the specs at least, the X6150 sounds to be more system friendly, requiring only a P200 and 64 MB RAM for Windows 98. ----- UPDATE: 12/10/05: After returning the HP and getting the Lexmark I found I still had the same installation problems. Only after doing a fresh install of Windows, rather than an upgrade, was I able to install the Lexmark printer. It is likely that doing the same fresh install would have allowed me to install this HP printer. It would be nice if the install programs for these printers told you exactly what was wrong or would even offer to fix the problem, instead of forcing you to reinstall your OS. I am happier with the Lexmark (X6150) though. The scans I was able to make on the HP (never could print) do not look as good as scans of same material made on the Lexmark at the same dpi setting. The HP-1510 was faster though at doing no-PC copying, even at the higher quality settings. Scan speed is about the same, the best I can reemember.

At first the unit was temperamental and would not work well the ink cartridges. After a couple of days and some cleaning, it starting working well and printing well. I had purchased this used because, I still had several refurbished cartridges to use and go thru a lot of them printing. This is my 3rd PSC 1510 printer. The newer printers and cartridges would be a lot more expensive to use. I have not bought a new cartridge in years. If you buy in large quantities you can get refurbished ink for about $7 each, about 1/4 of the new cartridge cost and they work the same. Not all refurbish manufacturers are the same; some are much better than others. I do know that this unit will hit end of life soon and the cartridges will eventually not be available. But for 10 years or more,it has been very economical and works great.

I read all your reviews and I was amazed to find that most people thought it was a good printer. After I purchased one, I found several things that troubled me. First, the program for the printer has a secret. It installs another user into your system. I thought something was weird when I had to log in to my computer, which was a single user system (Win XP). There were other changes to my system that I can only explain as glitches. For some reason, this affected a few programs and I will probably end up un-installing and re-installing most of them including my antivirus software. It stopped the scheduled scanning the day I installed this program. What a coincidence. There were other issues... Although the print preview works, it does not truly print the same as the preview. Its always a little off center. There were issues with the paper I was using and this printer would not let me use any type of odd sizes no matter what adjustments I made. The photo itself was not as good as a real photo - pretty close, but not better. If you clicked on the help feature, the program took you to a web page. This would have been fine except that the last should have been / so I kept getting a This page cannot be displayed. error. If I corrected the /, the page worked perfectly. I must give credit to the HP support desk. They admitted that the program does create another user (and that I could delete it without issue). They tried to help me with the other issues and were very fast with replies but I am only willing to un-install and re-install the program 3 times (which is what I did). In the end, I think they knew that they could not help me and gave up. I printed about 30-40 photos and ran out of the tri-color ink. That was the final straw and I will be returning this printer never to buy another HP printer again. After re-reading the other reviews I thought I bought a lemon but after three installs with the same results, it must be something else. If you decide to buy... good luck.

This product totally sucks! I have to agree with 100% of the other negative reviews on this product when it comes to the paper feed. One word of advise ... DONT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT!!!! Another word of advise ... Dont use the online chat help function when contacting HP! When the printer first started to fail I had to hand feed the paper. Then after the printer sat for 3-4 months because I was out of ink ... Then once I replaced the ink the paper would not feed at all. After spending two hours online with a tech person he couldnt help. Then I couldnt get any assistance on the phone. Im now trying to get my money back for the $35.00 I just spent on ink. Wish me luck!

I purchased the HP 1510 All-in-one printer on November 16, 2013. By January 6, 2014, I had began having major problems with this printer. The printer would reset its own settings to print offline, which disables the ability to print from computer files. Sometimes it would print after I changed the settings back to the way they belonged, sometimes it would not print. Each print job thereafter would come up with a print error. As I began looking into the option of going through the HP Warranty process, I decided to uninstall the printer and re-install it to see if it would make a difference. A process which should have taken five minutes at most, ended up taking more than three hours! The install process kept failing because it would not recognize the USB cord, which came with the printer. It is time for me to contact HP about this worthless printer. I would definitely NOT recommend this printer to a friend, enemy, or anyone else.

I was really surprised to find that I could get an all-in-one printer for such a low price. Thats because the people at HP are making up for the price in ink cartridges. I noticed another user mention that if you are printing more than 1000 pages a month it wont work - dream on! I print probably less than 50 pages per ink cartridge. I have paid for this printer 3 times over in ink. While the quality of the printer itself is good for the price, I am going to get a different printer that is more economical with ink - this thing guzzles ink worse than an SUV guzzles gas!
