> 3 dayI read all your reviews and I was amazed to find that most people thought it was a good printer. After I purchased one, I found several things that troubled me. First, the program for the printer has a secret. It installs another user into your system. I thought something was weird when I had to log in to my computer, which was a single user system (Win XP). There were other changes to my system that I can only explain as glitches. For some reason, this affected a few programs and I will probably end up un-installing and re-installing most of them including my antivirus software. It stopped the scheduled scanning the day I installed this program. What a coincidence. There were other issues... Although the print preview works, it does not truly print the same as the preview. Its always a little off center. There were issues with the paper I was using and this printer would not let me use any type of odd sizes no matter what adjustments I made. The photo itself was not as good as a real photo - pretty close, but not better. If you clicked on the help feature, the program took you to a web page. This would have been fine except that the last should have been / so I kept getting a This page cannot be displayed. error. If I corrected the /, the page worked perfectly. I must give credit to the HP support desk. They admitted that the program does create another user (and that I could delete it without issue). They tried to help me with the other issues and were very fast with replies but I am only willing to un-install and re-install the program 3 times (which is what I did). In the end, I think they knew that they could not help me and gave up. I printed about 30-40 photos and ran out of the tri-color ink. That was the final straw and I will be returning this printer never to buy another HP printer again. After re-reading the other reviews I thought I bought a lemon but after three installs with the same results, it must be something else. If you decide to buy... good luck.

> 3 dayI bought this product mostly because of previous experiences with HP. Right after setting up the printer, I was happy with its performance. The problems started when I wanted to use my offices letterhead, all the time the paper would get jammed on the printer; I trashed like 50 pages (and 3 hours) trying to get the printer to work properly, checked online for references and got a bit scared with some comments regarding paper jams and feeder problems. With all this, I contacted HPs online support and the technician guided me with precision and patience trying to solve the problem. I was honestly surprised with the technician help and attitude. At the end, it was clear that the culprit was my letterhead paper which will have to be replaced. Im happy with the product now, and sure that HP is there to back up its product with even better service.

> 3 dayI have had it for a year or two. I have had to get a second mortgage just for the replacement cartridge. It scans fine but from the first day her majesty was too good to feed the paper on her own and I had to assist with every print job. My wife kept threatening me that she is going to file for a divorce if I dont replace the printer soon; it is either her or me, you have to choose. After waiting for a long time I realized they are empty treats so I am going to replace it soon. I want to like HP but they are making it difficult. Stay away from this one.

> 3 dayI bought one of these because it was on sale at Sams Club for a price that was cheaper than a stand alone scanner. I like the output quality, Scan quality, Good Speed, small footprint, utilizes 1 power cord and 1 USB port, and Mac OS X Compatible. Now the downside. Drinks ink at an alarming pace! The cartridges are cheap, but will add up quickly. I have a Cannon i900D that can go for several months without feeding. I have had a little trouble with the paper feed. It has pulled the ENTIRE stack through once (Approximately 50 pages)! I read in another review that this had happened to someone else. Until today I thought that it was just a fluke, but now Im not sure..... The high ink consumption / small tanks is why I gave this 3 stars. For minimal printing it will do fine. Just beware of a possible problem in the design of the feed roller or paper source tray. ******UPDATE 6-27-06****** This thing blows through ink so fast that I now only use it as a scanner. I have replaced the Color and Black ink tanks 3 times each since November. Do not buy this if you are looking at it as a primary printer! High Ink consumption and cost is not acceptable. HP has decided to make money from ink and not quality products.

> 3 dayI bought this printer about a month ago and, in general, am happy with it. I replaced the color cartridge with the photo cartridge ($25 extra) and printed some 4x6 on HPs premium plus photo paper and was floored with the quality. I compared the printed photos to photos I had printed professionally and you can not tell the difference (actually, you can tell if you run your finger over the surface of the print, the HP is textured, I assume to ink build-up, the other was perfectly smooth). Five stars for print quality. The scanner is pretty good, if not a little slow. Four stars. The biggest problem Ive found is, like other posts, the ink is simply WAY too small. Leaving this printer to only print the most boring tech manuals and web pages, other wise youd just use too much ink. Three stars. The install was a big problem. I have Windows XP Media Center 2005 and the install crashed the system half way through. On the plus side, it recovered perfectly and picked up where it left off. However, crashing a computer on a driver install is unforgivable. One star. Like I said, overall Im fairly happy with it. It does what it says it does. However, because of the cost of ink and price per print, Im going to return this and get a higher end printer (3210 or 3310 with six individual ink cartridges and lower-total cost of ink) Buy this if you do not intend to print photo-quality pages often, its a great printer. If you want to print photos once in awhile, it prints beautifully. But if you intend on printing presentation level documents and photos, do yourself a favor and get something that can handle more ink.

> 3 dayIn addition to all the test pages it prints out, it rarely catches the paper in the paper tray and it eats ink like its going out of style. It was an inexpensive printer/scanner/copier when I bought it and it has held up over these past few years, but its not the most elegant, easy to use machine ever made. Once it dies, I will be much more diligent in my printer/scanner/copier buying to avoid making the same mistake.

> 3 dayI have this printer for a year. At the begining it worked fine. Though I never checked how many pages it printed. But now its money eating machine. It prints about 20-30 pages and runs out of ink. Or if you print a few pages you can go shopping for a new package of ink because its not gonna be enough for another print.

> 3 dayI really am happy with this all in one printer. I like that I have one machine that prints, copies and scans. The printing and copying goes rather quickly, the scanning is a little slower but still goes at at pretty good pace. I feel that my ink wore out quicker than my last printer, but maybe thats just me.

> 3 dayI just picked up this printer used today. Im not sure about the print quality, thats because its out of black ink, but still has a little tri-color left in it. Im hoping to use refill cartridges(?) in the future to save money. As per some of the previous reviews, I understand I will need a higher quality paper than just copier paper, so I plan to get some of that to start. A couple issues with the software that I had are worth mentioning. The HP Photosmart Studio software I downloaded from HP for Mac initially froze every time I tried to do something with the scans. It turns out one of the processes it does kills your processor. Its called keyword albums. You have to modify a .plist file or else delete it. I deleted it and the Photosmart software seems to be working fine now.

> 3 dayI would not buy this again. After less than six weeks the paper feed no longer works, which basically means I cant print anything. The problem is described in multiple reviews (which I read only after I started having problems). Each sheet of paper needs to be manually feed and even then it only picks up the paper one out of six times. HP support was rude and not very helpful concerning a problem that seems to be pretty common. Im just hoping they recall the printer so I can get a refund.
