Yup, after our first cartridge change (I bought genuine HP cartridge), it would insist on printing a test page every time it is powered on. Also numerous feed problems. I bought this because of the HP name. Did a little research on the internet and lots of people have this problem, HP just doesnt give a sh@#t. No software or firmware fix, nothing. They got their money and the consumer is stuck. Worst of all the problem appears only after a while so by that time you cant return it. Never again, HP, never again.

I should have adhered my own advice -- You get what you pay for. This printer seemed like a good value when we purchased it about a year ago. But it drinks ink like crazy...and we have spent hundreds of dollars in ink alone. I have tried to use off-brand ink cartridges, but the HP software will not recognize them and some will just not work unless it is the official HP brand cartridge. The paper feeder does not always work properly and often takes two or three sheets at a time. I like the copier function and have had no troubles with the scanner. While Im still using the printer for now, Im in the market for a new one. And price wont be the guiding factor anymore!

This All- in- one is just right. Its price is great and the copies come out clear and sharp. Paper(s) feeds though with no problems, but I havent used the scanner as yet. For me this is just superb and I am in no hurry if the speed is not as fast as other models. This suits my purpose. As far as the ink goes I do agree that they can improve on this. It really is not enough ink and it does run out fast. But on the whole its a fine product.

I bought one of these because it was on sale at Sams Club for a price that was cheaper than a stand alone scanner. I like the output quality, Scan quality, Good Speed, small footprint, utilizes 1 power cord and 1 USB port, and Mac OS X Compatible. Now the downside. Drinks ink at an alarming pace! The cartridges are cheap, but will add up quickly. I have a Cannon i900D that can go for several months without feeding. I have had a little trouble with the paper feed. It has pulled the ENTIRE stack through once (Approximately 50 pages)! I read in another review that this had happened to someone else. Until today I thought that it was just a fluke, but now Im not sure..... The high ink consumption / small tanks is why I gave this 3 stars. For minimal printing it will do fine. Just beware of a possible problem in the design of the feed roller or paper source tray. ******UPDATE 6-27-06****** This thing blows through ink so fast that I now only use it as a scanner. I have replaced the Color and Black ink tanks 3 times each since November. Do not buy this if you are looking at it as a primary printer! High Ink consumption and cost is not acceptable. HP has decided to make money from ink and not quality products.

I wish that I still had it.

Wastes paper and ink by printing test pages for no reason. Refuses to print a black copy if its out of color ink. Doesnt handle changing paper sizes well. Despite numerous driver updates nothing meaningful has been fixed. I hate this thing with a passion.

The HP Printer works great with my Laptop that uses Ubuntu 8.10 After purchasing the ink cartridges and connecting the printer the the laptop, the documents I had creat with Open Office came out just fine. The seller was good on their word, I just forgot to read the fine print where it said that ink cartridges were not included.

This printer absolutely refuses to operate with any consistency. It either pulls a dozen sheets of paper from the tray and clogs itself up, or only one sheet about halfway, clogging itself again. Even babying it, trying to feed it one sheet at a time proves to be an exercise in frustration. I have never seen such a shoddy piece of equipment, and regret having purchased it. Other than that, it makes a great paperweight.

I bought this product mostly because of previous experiences with HP. Right after setting up the printer, I was happy with its performance. The problems started when I wanted to use my offices letterhead, all the time the paper would get jammed on the printer; I trashed like 50 pages (and 3 hours) trying to get the printer to work properly, checked online for references and got a bit scared with some comments regarding paper jams and feeder problems. With all this, I contacted HPs online support and the technician guided me with precision and patience trying to solve the problem. I was honestly surprised with the technician help and attitude. At the end, it was clear that the culprit was my letterhead paper which will have to be replaced. Im happy with the product now, and sure that HP is there to back up its product with even better service.

Dont buy this machine. My husband and I have been loyal HP printer customer for years. Only reason I bought a new one was because my new computer only accepts USB and my old HP printer was a parrallel port (thats how long my old HP has been working perfectly, and still is; gave to a friend). I purchased the HP PSC 1510 for my home office thinking adding copy and scanning capabilites would be nice conveniences. Im on my second one and its now doing the same thing: doesnt feed paper(regardless of what kind you use to try and please it) no customer service at Help button-links to sales web site no customer service assistance on phone Ink cartridges VERY small....replace constantly and they are expensive Does HP make a decent model under $200 anymore? Im returning this one too. Takes up my whole day fiddling with it. Dont need a fax. Just color printer, occasional copies, and scanner. Shame on HP. [email protected]
