Everyone else has had the same experience I have...just wish Id looked at the reviews first. The print cartridge is empty after printing 30 pages of light text; you have to hand-feed each page several times before it will take and the Alignment window pops up constantly. This is my first and last experience with HP printers. I called to complain and was offered a replacement for $135. No, thanks. Its back to reliable Canons for me.

I wish Id had the chance to read these reviews before purchasing this printer... The first printer I purchased jammed right away, and evidently I messed up something when I cleared the jam because it squeaked incredibly after that. I almost immediately started running into issues with the paper jamming every time/paper not pulling through or, if I got lucky, pulling several pages through at once so the type ended up misaligned. I saw another one at a garage sale and thought I could start fresh. Even though it was in great, like new condition, it started having jamming issues shortly after I started using it as well. About the only way to coax the paper on through was to lift up the front edge of the paper as the printer tried to pull it in and give it slight pressure to help the printer grab the paper. For mutiple page documents or several copies, babysitting the printer like this is a tedious and insane. I really have better things to do with my time. I hate to stop using it since I have several ink cartridges to use up (which, by the way, do get used up fairly quickly). But Im not looking forward to printing 100 Christmas letters and standing by the printer all day to babysit. I used to believe that HP was the gold standard when it came to printers. Now they must be more concerned with quantity vs. quality. I give it 2 stars only because when it does print, the quality is nice.

Remember that scene in Office Space where they pound the printer with the baseball bat? This printer fits the bill. It prints out a test page every time you turn it on, until you scan the print out. Ive used it to print 5 pages tops, and the paper loader is already busted. Its a terrible design as the paper is fed and dispenses from the same location. HP should be ashamed!!! I will never buy HP anything again, terrible, terrible, terrible!!!

I bought one of these used and took it home, installed the drivers and software from the HP site and found that the machine complained constantly about not having paper. I only needed it to scan. Didnt matter. Tried using the HP scan software. Wouldnt work. Complains about no paper. I put paper in and, I kid you not, it prints a test page every time I try to scan. I had five test pages before giving up on that. And the printer still wouldnt scan, not with Photoshop, not from the control pane, not even from the HP software that is supposed to make it print. I uninstalled everything but the scan drivers and viola! Scans from third party apps, scans from Photoshop, scans form the control panel. Long story short: ONLY INSTALL THE DRIVERS. THE HP SOFTWARE WILL MAKE THIS ITEM INTO A DOORSTOP.

Ive had this printer for a few years simply because I dont print that much and dont want to spend much money on something I rarely use. This printer has never been able to print a decent picture. It has always needed frequent cartridge changes even though I print very few pages (I finally found an alternative to buying the hugely overpriced HP cartridges). The paper feeder has also always been a pain as many other raters mentioned. Bottom line is that this product is a piece of crap and as previous raters have mentioned I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER HEWLETT-PACKARD PRINTER!!!

The title says it all. I own it for 2 years or more. A year ago I got a replacement. Both items together printed max 20 pages. So what will that be 10 or so minutes. But I think I wasted more than 10 hours on this piece of junk and the hp support people to get it working. I am giving it 2 stars because the scanner part of it worked okay for me.

This printer was an excellent buy. I was replacing an older HP printer so I had the Power supply and cord. I did not need the manual. The price reflected not having the power cord or manual. Very Happy with purchase.

I seriously hate this printer more than Ive ever hated any terrible product. It does not feed, constantly says its out of paper when its not, misfeeds, jams, loses communication, etc. I use this at work, and its new and I really just need it for light stuff, but when I ask it to print something, I need it printed, and I have about a 7% chance of getting it on the first try. The amount of time I spend hitting the cancel button would save me so much time its ridiculous. Do Not Buy This Awful Printer!

This printer absolutely refuses to operate with any consistency. It either pulls a dozen sheets of paper from the tray and clogs itself up, or only one sheet about halfway, clogging itself again. Even babying it, trying to feed it one sheet at a time proves to be an exercise in frustration. I have never seen such a shoddy piece of equipment, and regret having purchased it. Other than that, it makes a great paperweight.

when it works its pretty good, but the paper is constantly getting jammed, and the scanner frequently only scans part of the page. After a few months of using it, I found it helpful to load the paper one page at a time, I know it sounds like that would be a pain to do, but actually its easier to put the paper in one page at a time, than to deal with the constant paper jams or the printer not being able to reconize that it has paper already loaded
