This was an inexpensive quick check for plug-ins. The display is easy to use. I have not checked the voltage read out against another volt meter for accuracy, but the three light system for checking polarity and ground was the reason I bought it for. GFCI function seems to work fine.

Multimeters have their place, but theyre fiddly to use and it takes time to diagnose multiple outlets in a row. This thing? If you just need to quickly find a faulty outlet, or get quick info, its your tool. Plug it in, look at the lights, move on to the next outlet on the circuit. Build quality seems to be as good as one could hope for. No flex in the plastic no matter where you push on the housing, sturdy feeling prongs.

I had several outlets to replace with Tamper Proof ones (grandchild visiting) and wanted a convenient way to make sure the outlets were shut off before working on them. The non-contact voltage tester works great for this, much better than my old one. There was a definite signal on live outlets and none on the shut off ones. This was at the low sensitivity setting. The electrical outlet tester I mainly bought to use in my RV to test the power at campgrounds before plugging in. It also worked great for testing my newly installed outlets to make sure I had wired everything correctly. The voltage meter on this will definitely come in handy at campgrounds. I have several AC outlet testers and holders to help in replacing an outlet. This seems to do most everything - not just LEDs to tell you it is wired correct but a readout to tell you the actual voltage. I bought it because I had not seen all of this in one unit. I have volt meters etc. but this is small and compact. I really like this so far.

All indications and readings are clearly visible, but the voltage reading is not +/- 2% plus 2 counts as claimed in the specifications in the instruction sheet that came with the unit. The unit read 107 volts, while my calibrated meter read 122.0 volts

I dont like working with outlets and replacing receptacles. But, I used this device to ensure the current running to the outlet was truly off and safe to work with - it was accurate testing on and off current!

I’m in the maintenance industry and this tool come very handy. helps save time when troubleshooting electrical issues get you right to the issue with the gfci and recepticals. Good investment to add to your tool bag for a price you can’t beat.

Very easy to use. In the pictures, from left to right, the first light is lit. The second two are not. Find the light pattern that matches. The condition of your receptacle is to the right of it. The second pic, I set the flash wrong. It shows two lights on the left only. The last image is a close up of the third Image.
