I bought this combination for our son who is looking at buying his first house. It has saved him from making a mistake of trusting the home owners word that the outlets had been updated and were grounded. The only update that had been done was new outlets that were not grounded. This is a must tool for everyone.

Worked as intented to identify a GFI fault in a brand new house. Easy to use and you do need a minor understanding of electrical circuits to figure out what the different test modes are showing on the meter. Otherwise,, if you are not familiar with electrical circuits, then this will tell you enough to call an electrician that there is a problem and should be able to identify for the electrician what is the issue. Mine was a brand new GFI outdoor receptical that failed upon installation evidently.

This was an inexpensive quick check for plug-ins. The display is easy to use. I have not checked the voltage read out against another volt meter for accuracy, but the three light system for checking polarity and ground was the reason I bought it for. GFCI function seems to work fine.

I bought this product for 2 main reasons- 1.- It will diagnose any receptacle wiring problem and give you a visual indication of what the problem is. And 2.- It will also test GFCI receptacles to ensure they are working properly. It also gives you an accurate voltage reading at the receptacle. I use this in my motorhome to check the receptacles and for checking the 120 volt service before hooking up to the electrical pedestal at the campsite. A convenient and handy device.

Functions fine as a simple outlet tester. However the voltage readout measured about 15 volts lower than my fluke 117. Purchased two of them. Both read voltage 10+ volts lower than they are. Tested them against two seperate fluke meters. Again they do function fine as a standard circuit tester but wouldnt trust the numbers on the screen.

Well priced piece of kit. Laser difficult to see outside in sunshine. Excellent for indoor use. Works well. Good value for money

The battery tray for the pen tester is too big for for AA batteries. The batteries shake around inside because of this and the loose connection causes the pen to turn off constantly when in use

No wires to stick in (which may limit its functionality if you want to use to test wires instead of outlets). Does 3-prong outlets only; I havent tried it with an adapter on a two-prong outlet. Can test regular outlets and GFIC outlets. So easy to read. But more than that -- it test several things: -- gives you exact volts so you can make sure its not just powered but powered correctly -- tells you if the outlet is wired correctly (e.g. polarity, neutral, hot, ground, etc) While the ones with the wires ending in metal tips might have more universal testing ability, it feels (and I think is) so much safer just to plug this in without holding on to wires. This was perfect for my needs to check outlets in my old house!

My trusty outlet tester died after two decades of faithful service. I really like this one. The digital readout is a plus and everything is very easy to see. The probe is a bonus. Not only will it check an outlet, you can hold it over a Romex line and get a read. I hope this one lasts a long time.

I had several outlets to replace with Tamper Proof ones (grandchild visiting) and wanted a convenient way to make sure the outlets were shut off before working on them. The non-contact voltage tester works great for this, much better than my old one. There was a definite signal on live outlets and none on the shut off ones. This was at the low sensitivity setting. The electrical outlet tester I mainly bought to use in my RV to test the power at campgrounds before plugging in. It also worked great for testing my newly installed outlets to make sure I had wired everything correctly. The voltage meter on this will definitely come in handy at campgrounds.
