I typically use a different style receptacle testerfrom a reputable brand, but I chose this tester because it had the added feature of displaying the voltage. I had just finished a big electrical job recently and I had a lot of outlets to test. I began to use this tester and for the first few outlets everything checked out okay. (A good wired outlet shows the first 2 of 3 lights illuminated on the tester. Any other configuration and the outlet is wired wrong.) After the first half dozen outlets were tested I started noticing only one light lit on the tester - signaling an “open ground” Then I realized EVERY OUTLET suddenly had an open ground issue, even the first good outlets I tested earlier. Then I realized that the TESTER WAS BAD - A CHEAP LED BURNED OUT. The tester looks like a decent design but mine did not hold up after only 15 minutes of use. This was my experience.

Worked as intented to identify a GFI fault in a brand new house. Easy to use and you do need a minor understanding of electrical circuits to figure out what the different test modes are showing on the meter. Otherwise,, if you are not familiar with electrical circuits, then this will tell you enough to call an electrician that there is a problem and should be able to identify for the electrician what is the issue. Mine was a brand new GFI outdoor receptical that failed upon installation evidently.

The Kaiweets tester I bought looked cool, But sadly is Inaccurate in voltage reading by 12 to 13 volts less then whats really coming out of the Outlet. The Inaccuracy was the deal breaker. Tested Kaiweets tester first, and that made my jaw drop, What only 107 Volts coming out of this professionally installed Outlet? Next I tried the Klein Tools version and It gave a more expected reading 119 volt to 120 volt reading which is what the outlet is expected to put out. Before sending the Kaiweets tester back to Amazon, I checked the testers on other outlets around the house and even pluged in a digital meter that matched with the Klein tools tester readings. When it comes to meters, Quality Control should be Top Priority! As a Hobbiest trying to become professional, I dont want junk in my tool box!

Does exactly what its supposed to do. Every time it has shown a fault with an outlet it was correct. I correct the indicated fault and it reads the outlet as correct. I would recommend to otheres.

Out of the box accurate. Easy instructions and visual cues to functions. Very pleased. This may be a basic tester, but suits my needs for TV and home use.

I dont like working with outlets and replacing receptacles. But, I used this device to ensure the current running to the outlet was truly off and safe to work with - it was accurate testing on and off current!

Made an adapter so that I can plug it into 220v outlets for testing.

I used it at home to verify our regular and GFCI outlets. I also used it to check my sons home and found that their outlets have no ground.
