I’ve used smart key for years and love them. Are they the most safe ? Who knows locks only keep the honest people out

I purchased for front security door. Installation was easy but tolerances are too tight. I cant unlock the door from the inside when its hot from afternoon sun shining on it. The metal actually expands.

If I owned any Kwikset stock, I would be very angry. These should cost at least $100/set. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER BUY A DIFFERENT SET THAN THESE. These are bump-proof and you can rekey them, to any key you have laying around in about 30 seconds per lock once you get the hang of it. My first 2 took less than 3 minutes total. I dont know what sorcery they used to make it so easy to re-key, but I have the feeling it is a military-grade secret. Someone left a review saying they had ordered 3 sets and they all had the same key. My 2 sets were keyed differently from one-another, so they must have resolved the issue. Also these are way heavier than the ones they replaced, which were less than 6 months old, yet glide effortlessly when opening. Also, they are gorgeous and unlike the last ones I had, dont get all scratched up from a key not finding its mark.

Love his door handles and all the working parts. Been buying cheap door locks for the last few times cause with all the people we have using the house the handle or locking parts was breaking every few years or someone loses a key and need to change them all anyways. This handles are very sturdy and the locking parts are very smooth making everything work so much better. Easy to install and change keys. Now we only need 1 key for the whole property so much easier than fumbling around and trying to find your key at night and in the cold. . Brother in law is a lock Smith assistant. Tried to get into the house and couldnt. Which really surprised him. Spend the little extra and buy at least this quality

One of the few 5 star reviews. However this product is great. The smart key feature is awesome. Some questions I had that Id didnt find anywhere and answers are below: Is the smart key itself unique to each door or lock set? No the key can be used to reset the lock and key for any smart key door. You only require the original key or key that currently works and one of the reset tools. you could also use a small flat drive to do this as well. If you lost your smart key you can order another less expensive lock or contact Kiwkset to get another one. How does the smart key really work ? It reset the tumblers to whatever the key is shaped to. when you insert the reset tool, the tumblers effectively go to a level position. Then once the new key is inserted they take the matching position of the teeth on the new key. Really cool idea, and awesome for construction, contractors, temporary access, or lost or stolen keys. Possibly the best purchase I have made on Amazon this year.

This lockset product does not install easily. Even worse the Kwikset seemed cheaply manufactured. Could not line up screws in the channels. Had a plastic drum to turn for engaging the handle lock. Never expected that. Even though I watched several How to install the Kwikset deadbolt and handle videos, and spent hours trying to align the screws, I had to give up. I was going to return the Kwikset, but was side tracked.

Feels solid and works as expected. Also I love the smart key feature to refer in 30 seconds, its great.

I purchased these as part of a complete replacement of the 25 year old brass hardware in my house. Install is quick and easy. The levers are reversible. They weigh about 20% less than the old units I pulled off, but they feel sturdy enough They look great, and work smooth. I dont know if theyll hold up for another 25 years. The SmartKey feature is really nice. I have that on some rental property and rekeying takes only a few minutes. The advantage here was that I ordered three units, and didnt have to worry about them being keyed alike. In fact, I got three random key patterns, all usable with the SmartKey system, saving even more money, and making my life simpler. Oh, and they are supposed to be bumping resistant. Another good thing.

The hardware itself feels sturdy; looks & works really well. The instructions were a little difficult to follow and screws not labeled. Good thing this isnt my first installation. I needed to chisel out the deadbolt space, as this one is more substantial than the one I replaced. Not a huge deal, though.
