Greater than one weekThe hardware itself feels sturdy; looks & works really well. The instructions were a little difficult to follow and screws not labeled. Good thing this isnt my first installation. I needed to chisel out the deadbolt space, as this one is more substantial than the one I replaced. Not a huge deal, though.

> 3 dayNOTE: I am writing this review for all the different versions of this lock that I purchased and had to replace. So, please excuse me if you see it more than once. But, since I didnt know where folks would start, I figured it was best to include it in all places to be safe. It looks like a lot of people have had luck with this lock (though Im curious to know what people think or if they have had similar problems after owning it for a while). And, there are definitely some nice things about the lock: they look nice, come in several finishes, and the SmartKey idea seems like a good one. But, I had bad luck with mine, and if you read other Amazon reviews and things folks have written on various other web sites, youll see the problem I have had is not an isolated one. If you do decide to give this lock a try, be sure to at least read the negative reviews so youll have some idea what might happen (though it clearly doesnt happen to everyone). I have 5 doors to my house that require both handle and deadbolt locks (thats 10 locks total, including 4 of this set and on of this set

Greater than one weekI purchased these as part of a complete replacement of the 25 year old brass hardware in my house. Install is quick and easy. The levers are reversible. They weigh about 20% less than the old units I pulled off, but they feel sturdy enough They look great, and work smooth. I dont know if theyll hold up for another 25 years. The SmartKey feature is really nice. I have that on some rental property and rekeying takes only a few minutes. The advantage here was that I ordered three units, and didnt have to worry about them being keyed alike. In fact, I got three random key patterns, all usable with the SmartKey system, saving even more money, and making my life simpler. Oh, and they are supposed to be bumping resistant. Another good thing.

Greater than one weekBought the Kwikset lever and bolt set to use on both entry doors to my house. The first install went a bit slow, as it was my first time installing a door knob/lever. Luckily, the instructions were clear enough that even an amateur such as myself was able to install it effectively. I did not have all the proper tools, so installation went even slower. For the second door, the process went much more quickly. With the right tools and the instructions, I was able to install the lever and bolt with no problems. Overall, its great, as you can use the same key for both locks. The same key can even be used for both the front door and back door. The locks are supposed to be pretty easily re-programmed if you lose your keys and need to get a new set. I havent had the need for that feature yet, but it seems like it would be handy if we were ever to lose our keys.

> 3 dayI bought several sets of these to replace existing entry locks to match the interior door knobs i had switched out, and I did not want to change the existing key. Fortunately the existing key was compatible and setting the locks was as easy as following the instructions. I needed to drill out the bolt hole on one door a bit but otherwise it was an easy installation. As other reviews have noted, some if the interior working parts are plastic, so I will be seeing how they perform over time. For the $$$, Im a little disappointed in this construction. Also, one of the entry doors is exposed to the hot desert sun most of the day, and as other reviews have mentioned, Ill also be paying attention to how the finish survives over time.

Old but not always Wise
> 3 dayI screwed up the re-keying process. THEN I looked on the Kiwkset website and their step-by-step video of the process made me understand how I went wrong. I called their 800 customer service line and their agent, Dewey was very helpful. He gave me choices to resolve my issue and now I understand how simple it is to do it correctly- thats all the difference between a mess and a good working product [and what was a very unhappy wife]. Like everything, the lock business has changed and continues to evolve. I originally planned to by what used to be a superior lockset but my research took me back to Kiwkset. Im going to change all my locks to Kwikset as a result of this experience.
