> 3 dayAfter wasting money on a similar unknown brand lock/deadbolt combo that was a nightmare to install, this set installed easily and the material/mechanisms are much better. The SmartKey feature works great and is a bonus feature.

> 3 dayI like these locks because 1) they are sturdy and 2) they are simple to rekey for contractors, in-laws, renters, etc. They are also simple to install except for the deadbolt plate, which Ive only successfully retrofitted into a small percentage of my replacements (that plate is bigger than most and so the notch and screwholes rarely line up without a new screw half in an old hole - I end up just using the existing deadbolt plate, which is slightly less secure but not worthy of a lost star). It does lose a star for me by providing identical keys for multiple locksets I purchased (I wouldnt have realized this had I not bought several at one time). I wouldnt use the key that comes with the lock for this reason, except maybe to rekey a lock temporarily for a contractor, guest, etc. The only other downside to this lock is if you mess up the re-keying. You have to either have a reset tool or take it to Lowes or similar store (and for me that has to be when the one old guy who knows how to use the re-keying tool is there so its a big hassle).

> 3 dayI really love this Kwikset line. Its perfect for my security needs but its what else it does that I really like. You can easily change out the handles. For example, If in your home you have a nickel finish on the outside entry doors and brass on the inside doors of the same room....buy both sets and switch out the handles so all your handles Im the room match. (nickel outside of door, brass on the inside) The other big plus is the ability to change the lock without going to a locksmith. Instead of multiple keys for each lock in your home, you can just buy Kwikset key change ones and make them all open with the same key! Save those new keys that come with the lock for future use. As when, if you ever need to change your locks, use one of those new keys and change them all for to fit for that set. Theres no limit to how many times you can change them.

> 3 daySolid, quality feel. Great finish with long guarantee. I bought two sets and performed the rekeying. No problem if you follow instructions carefully. I did find that the installation in existing doors was trickier than I though. I had to do some routing, chiseling, etc. The tolerance was tighter with this set than the old hardware it replaced. The deadbolt with this set is Grade 1, the highest level of security. The strike plate (not shown in the photo) is the difference with four screws rather than the more common two. Additional screws are about 3 inches long.

> 3 dayLooks great and very simple to install. The directions are clear and concise. The SmartKey function is wonderful, it allows you to re-key the locks with an existing key, which is great if you want to keep your old key or you want it to match other locks in your house. I will say the deadbolt was very tricky to get right with the SmartKey. I happen to have a reset tool for Smartkey locks so I was able to fix it when it didnt program right, but if you dont have one of those or dont want to buy one, be very very careful with the deadbolt when you use the SmartKey function. I love the look of these, the Satin Nickel finish is much classier looking than the standard silver knob the came with my house. To get it facing the right way, the handle at to be flipped, which means the lock is upside down. Not a major issue, but keep that in mind if that aesthetically will bother you. They have a great heft to them. All in all, Im a big fan, but again be careful using the SmarKey function on the deadbolt and make sure you get it right!

> 3 dayHigh quality and looks nice. This is a significant upgrade to my old brass door knob. I like that it has a high security rating.
