These are the first smart plugs Ive tried and so far they are great and I plan on buying more. I bought these because they worked with Apple HomeKit and the first one I tried to set up caused a little bit of difficulty. I managed to get it to work within the app before I made it work with home kit but otherwise once it did work with homekit everything went well. I used one for the lamp my fan in the living room and everything is working. There were no problems with the wifi, they connected instantly. If youre really into things that expand the use for HomeKit these are perfect. And the price is perfect for a pack of two instead of buying only one of the more expensive plugs these are the ones to go to. And i think that the clicking sound to make sure that they turn on is pretty cool. I look forward to more homekit Meross products.

These are working fine after a little experimentation. You plug them in and scan the barcode with your iPhone, and thats it. Except HomeKit reports theres a firmware update you need the Meross app to apply. I suspect thats just to get you to install the app. It was working fine without the update. Once added to their app you can apply the firmware, but that made them much less reliable. I ended up unpairing them from both systems, uninstalling the app and starting over in HomeKit. After that theyve been fine. It was a bit of a hassle-- pick one platform and stick to it. UPDATE: After a few weeks I have to subtract a star. At least twice a week Ill get Automation failed ... Accessory is not reachable. If youre controlling your holiday decorations fine, but dont use these for anything important. UPDATE 2: After using these for about 5 months now, I have to knock them down to 2 stars. Theyre just too unreliable. If triggered manually they usually function immediately, but often dont report their status to HomeKit so your phone has the warning icon. When run via automation its a coin toss if it will work. I have a strong Wifi connection, a 2020 iPad acting as a HomeKit hub, the firmware was updated-- no excuses. These are just mediocre at best, and quite frustrating.

So the set up of these is horrible. First off Home Kit cant be used without using Meross app. You cant set schedule with Home Kit as Meross controls this unit. Took forever to set up one. Then it stopped working. Tried to reset and start over and no response from the unit. Cant return as it is too late. Save yourself and dont get these.

These plugs seem like simple, no-nonsense, classic Apple “it just works” compatible. Added 4 of these plugs and some LED bulbs via HomeKit within a few minutes. Totally painless. Works great with automations and Siri commands (zones/scenes/etc.). Zero problems, very happy for the price. Have an outdoor plug I haven’t played with yet. Have been using Meross’ garage door opener for 1.5 years with no issues and just moved into a remodeled home I want to take a first plunge into home automation with. So far I’m not disappointed.

These switches integrated relatively easily with HomeKit. Requires that you are on the 2.4Ghz wifi signal in order to connect these devices. The 2D barcode isnt in the most accessible area on the plug, so I had to scan the code and then plug in the device. The second plug that seemed to be a little more finicky so it required that it be plugged in while it was scanned in by HomeKit.

    Greater than one week

The switch turns on and off as expected with the proprietary Meross app and allows you to remotely control outlets away from home without using the full HomeKit integration. But the biggest issue is the automated schedule that you set through the Meross app doesn’t always turn on or off the plug at the programmed times if it loses the Wi-Fi connection. If it’s on an programmed schedule, one should think it would be set to and stored on the smart plug itself so it would no longer need a wifi connection. Not sure if this is the definite cause, but it routinely misses programmed on or off times and a bit of a deal breaker for some applications

The app was useless for setup. Kept telling me that I was not connected to WiFi then led me to the WiFi on my iPhone. Under the settings in Meross app it looked like it was turned on for the network. Reset my iPhone network settings as instructed if problems continue with recognizing my wifi . Didn’t work. Reset the smart plug by holding in the power button. Still wouldn’t connect. I eventually connected both plugs directly through my HomeKit. Still cannot get the 2nd plug to show up in the Meross app. I was directed to do a firmware update on the first plug and was able to do that through the Meross app, but cannot find the plug in the app to do the update for the 2nd plug. I guess my next step will be to delete the Meross app and redos load it and try again. I am able to use both plugs and set up automations but ONLY through HomeKit.

I have several smart bulbs, but wanted to give plugs a try for other things — like holiday lights, etc … They work great. Setup via HomeKit was seamless. Solid addition to our evolving smart home.

UPDATE: Im bumping it up to 2 stars because I FINALLY got one to connect and it works perfectly. I got the other connected and it doesnt provide any power. Ordered a dual plug to try and have to send it back because that one is a dud as well. QC seems to be minimal to none. I have about 50 smart devices in my house connected to HomeKit. Never have I ever had such a terrible experience trying to get a device to work. Constant “unable to add accessory” messages. What did I try to fix it? Restarted my router x3, turned off the 5ghz WiFi band when trying to add (using an Eero Pro 6), hard restarted my phone x3, reset network settings on my phone, factory reset the plugs x5 or more. Tried first adding through the app, no luck, tried adding through Home, no luck. Every time it tries to set it up, it switches my phone from my eero network to the Meross device “network” and constantly tells me that the network has no internet. It’s literally a revolving door of nothing working. Seriously, don’t waste your time, I wasted mine for you.

They work great until there’s a firmware update—which is every couple months. Once a firmware update is available they stop responding until updated, which usually requires a factory reset and re-adding them to HomeKit.
