> 3 dayoh I love these switches. I have Cat 7 cabling running around my house and the Gigiabit Ethernet switch worked well. I have 2 of them in the house (upstairs and downstairs) and the switches have been working flawlessly.

> 3 dayRuns cool, no dropped connections. Im using this at a small workbench with multiple towers connected 24/7, and I frequently hook machines I am servicing to the open ports throughout the day.I have yet to have a machine not be detected, unlike my experience with an older 5 port version of this same switch.

> 3 dayAt least splitting out a Mac network this is as simple and as good as it gets - literally plug and play. No discernible network lag no matter how slow the slowest connected device. Appears to appropriately sense and set speed for each connected device. FYI this replaced the slightly higher priced Pro product which mysteriously died after only two year of continuous use (although worked fine during that period).

> 3 dayJust plug it in and go. This is an approved switch for the ReadyNAS Duo that I have, and it works flawlessly with it. Also works with a Macbook Pro running 10.6, an Airport Extreme router, a PS3, an Xbox 360, a DirecTV HD DVR and a Panasonic Plasma (for VieraCast). Apparently this has the same chipset as the GS108 so the speeds are the same. The only differences are the materials (this one is plastic, the GS108 is metal) and whether you want front ports (the GS108) or rear ports (this one). I went with the GS608 because it went into an entertainment system cabinet and I wanted rear ports and to see the status lights without pulling the cabinet away from the wall. Keep in mind there is NO CONFIGURATION on this model. If you need to set traffic priority (for example, voice and video receive a higher priority than web surfing) you should look at the GS108T. And this model cannot be stacked because of heat dissipation. If you need to place two or more together you have to use the supplied stands to place them in a vertical orientation next to each other.

Greater than one weekI bought this switch back in 2009, and checking underneath I see now that it was the v2 version. It has worked OK but within the past several months, it has a tendency to dramatically slow down. Using speedtest.net as a gauge, my connection, when bad, will drop from ~150Mbit/s to 2Mbit/s. Unplugging the switch, waiting for a minute and plugging it back in brings speeds back to normal. In light of this, Im not inclined to buy a Netgear switch next time around.

> 3 dayI originally had a Cisco / Linksys Small Business switch in its place, but it doesnt support Jumbo Frames. My home network has numerous devices which support Jumbo Frames and using two of these increased my traffic with a noticeable difference. Excellent product for the price.

> 3 dayNo frills, it just works. What more do you need from an Ethernet hub? As a bonus, its a nice looking little gizmo.
