10-06-2025No configuration necessary. Just plug in the power and it works! A similar model has the lights on the rear side, depending on your needs.

> 3 dayI like having the RJ45 in the back and lights in the front. Easy to install. My 10/100 switch still works great after 10 years. I had too many fast ether switches in line, three. 300 mps in yielded 20 mps at the end. Putting All Gig switches has only lost 30 percent in throughput. Now my studio has 150(+) mps.

> 3 dayI have several of the 8 and 5 port versions and they work very well. I use them to connect several 10/100 IP cameras to a single GB conection to a GB wireless router port.

> 3 dayWhat can I say it is ethernet switch. But, it comes from a company whose other products I have used, so I knew I could trust this product. I have had no problems with this switch. Its plug and go. Having eight ports is convenient.

Greater than one weekGood switch. Works great, but... if you want to use it with a mac, a recently bought mac (intel based), youll need the version 3 of this. Not v2 or v1. I learned it from the hard way. Bought a v2 on october and used with my windows based computers with gigabit speed. But recently, bought a macbook pro and it only sees a 100baseTX on the switch. Netgear upgraded it to v3 to avoid this issue with mac owners.

> 3 dayI have to say, Ive been a fan of Netgear products since they were called Bay Networks. This little gigabit switch has a great price and is perfect for small biz or residential networks. Nothing to configure, just attach to your existing router or switch to get more ports. Keep in mind, you use 1 port on each switch in order to connect them together. Example: My Netgear wifi router already has 4 gigabit ports. I needed 5 more ports for some voiSip VOIP phones. So 4 + 8 is not 12... more like 4 - 1 + 8 - 1 = 10 ports. Increase of 6 (not 8). Just keep that in mind when you add a switch. Otherwise, this worked perfectly.

> 3 dayI have always liked Netgear products and have never had any issue with them. I currently have 2 five port switches running in my office but needed one for our new finished basement so I could run all my devices over wired ethernet rather than through wireless. I have the switch sitting in a tv cabinet and it works great. It looks good, works well, doesnt get hot, and does what I need it to do. The price is good for an 8 port switch that runs at gigabit speed. I also like that non used ports do not consume power when not in use. Right now I am running an Apple TV, cable box, Xbox, and PS3 through the switch and it works as expected. I highly recommend Netgear products and especially their non-managed switches.
