> 3 dayI bought this to help expand the wired network ports on our FiOS router. I replaced a 5-Port Netgear with this one and it has worked flawlessly after a very simple setup, basically connect and go.

> 3 dayPurchased this from Amazon in December 2006. At the time, I paid a only few dollars more than the current Amazon price. It also had a rebate then. This unit has served me well for 6+ years, running 24 X 7 without so much as a hiccup. A couple of days ago, it started to act up. After determining the unit gave up the ghost, I ordered another from Amazon. Im looking forward to another 6 trouble free years.

> 3 dayNo frills, it just works. What more do you need from an Ethernet hub? As a bonus, its a nice looking little gizmo.

> 3 dayI should have known better than to try a $15 GigE switch. It was terrible and I returned it after 1 night. First, it feels cheap. Second, who puts a freaking power switch on a network switch? Ive never in 30 years desired to turn off a switch. Third, it took my network offline 4 times the first night it was installed. I woke up to a slew of service down notifications in my inbox from my NAS. Do yourself a favor and buy a real switch, not this toy.

> 3 dayFirst thing: Its a switch so there is no effort to set one up. Step one open box, step two plug in Ethernet cables, step three plug in power. Boom you are done. This is perhaps the easiest setup for PC beginners. This device seems sturdy enough in the first few months and its small enough to mount or slide under the TV.

Greater than one weekThis is a nicely priced switch, with great looks and performance. I have a white Synology NAS box and white Apple Router sitting with it, so it matches the décor nicely. I have the NAS box connected to it, which is the highest volume device going through it, and have not suffered a bit of performance reduction. I have it standing vertically using the included stand (feet may be a better word), but it does have rubber feet built into the bottom of the for horizontal orientation. The LED lights for each port change color to indicate the speed the device is connecting at, and there is a front power light as well. The unit runs very cool, despite the plastic case and passive cooling. I have a small gripe with this router, but it is not enough to deduct from the rating. The unit is very light, being that its made of plastic, and this allows it to be moved by the heavier (and in some cases stiff) cables plugged into its ports. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning. I have the 8 port version and still have 4 ports left, so I expect to have this switch for years to come!

> 3 dayThis is a great little router and is awesome for the price, but seems to have an issue where some NICs that initially connect at 1000 Mbps will drop to 100 Mbps for no reason. Plugging the NIC in question into any other port on the switch will allow the NIC to connect at 1000 Mbps, but plugging it back into its old port will cause it to reconnect at 100 Mbps. This behavior continues until you power cycle the switch, at which point the NIC connects at 1000 Mbps again. Dont misunderstand, this isnt a big deal, just a bit of an annoyance - when you notice a port thats supposed to be green has gone yellow, it means its time to power cycle the switch. Ive had to do this, on average, about once every two months or so.

Greater than one weekWorks as expected, the design is nice because power and ethernet plugs in all from the back. Power switch is a nice addition. Some switches have ethernet in the front, and I suppose it depends on your use case and physical setup, but this design seems more sensible to me. Good value I was able to buy at $20, but at the list price of around $60, Id just go with something cheaper. I have a trendnet one works just as well.
