Great stuff. Smells good, protects, looks nice. I really like it. I put it on everything leather, from shoes and boots, knife handles, dog collars, etc. Ive even used it on wood. Word of warning: it can darken lighter brown leather quite a bit, so test it in an inconspicuous spot first and make sure you like the way it looks.

Great product that brings old leather back to life This will darken lighter colored leather, but looks very rich when applied and adds protection to your leather products

This goes on easy and give leather a nice (if darker) look. Also protects and adds water resistance. Softens the leather a bit as well so it is more flexible,. Good for gloves and shoes.

I used it to on an old Coach leather purse & my husband leather bomber jacket. They both look like new. Highly recommend this product.

Overall, I am very happy with the product as I had the right expectations going into trying it. Recommended for dark brown or black leather ONLY. Be forewarned that, while this product performs as expected, it ABSOLUTELY WILL SIGNIFICANTLY DARKEN medium brown (i.e. the majority of men’s and women’s boots on the market) or lighter leather. Also note that is not a good option for very light leathers such as white or gray, nor any colors (red, blue, etc) other than dark brown or black in my opinion. It will lighten -somewhat- over time from its darkest during application, however in my experience the original medium brown leather will NEVER come close to the original color ever again. Again, best for dark brown or black leather only. This is not a problem if you are open to, or otherwise perfectly happy with, a change to a much darker brown finish. If you can accept that, then it is an very good product. After application, 48-hours of drying, and then light buffing with a quality horse hair brush it leaves a satin finish that causes water to bead nicely. That said, I would not call it “waterproof”. I would not even call it “water resistant” unless it were applied in more than one coat and regular maintenance coats, perhaps not even then. This is more of a leather conditioner. Not good for suede or nubuck leathers. Fine for dark standard leather or glossy buffed leather (glossier shiny finishes will likely require vigorous buffing with an electric buffing wheel after application of this product to achieve again).

This product is AWESOME!!! Seals, waterproofs, prevents leather cracking around curves such as loop fitting sheath through belt loop. I think one container could last a lifetime. GREAT PRODUCT. BEESWAX IS KEY !!!

Over years of my life spent in logger boots this preservative/conditioner is awesome. Learned about this product through Wranglestar professional home owner. Product applies easily and lasts a long time. If your boots are dry and neglected with a couple treatments your leather will be better than new and thats no lie. Waterproofing is flawless

Obenauf’s Heavy Duty LP

Industrial strength leather preservative (lp) was originally developed for protecting and waterproofing firefighters leather work boots. Heavy Duty LP is a leather conditioner made with our natural oil and beeswax formula. This unique Beeswax/Propolis Suspension Formula protects leather against caustic fire retardant chemicals, heat, water, and abrasion. Natural oils in Heavy Duty LP are gradually released into the fibers as a long term lubrication. Heat and flexing cause oils to be released, oiling the leather when it needs it most, making this an excellent leather boot conditioner. Before application, a spot test is recommended because Heavy Duty LP will darken your leather and nubuck. Not recommended for Suede. Made in the USA.

Apply Heavy Duty LP to your:

  • Leather Work Boots
  • Saddle Bags and Chaps
  • Belts
  • Holsters
  • Sheathes
  • Baseball Gloves
  • And more!

Originally Developed for Firefighters

Heavy Duty LP

Over 30 years ago, an Idaho Wildland Firefighter developed this unique Beeswax/Propolis Suspension Formula to protect leather against caustic fire retardant chemicals, ash, heat, water, and abrasion. Natural oils are gradually released into the fibers as a long-term lubrication. Heat or continued flexing causes oils to be released faster. Leather gets oiled when and where it needs it most; while on the job!

Recommended Application

At room temperature, apply by hand as body temperature helps melt LP into leather. Two applications last longer in wet conditions. For absorption, allow ten minutes or up to one hour between treatments. On smooth leather, buff off excess with a clean cloth. On nubuck, use a soft bristled brush. One ounce should provide one application to a pair of tall boots. Apply every 6 to 8 weeks or as needed.

Extensive Lab and Field Testing Compared Obenauf"s Against Other Products. Rated Superior and Proven to Resist:

  • Dynamic and Static Water Penetration
  • Scuffing and Abrasion
  • Manure Acid, Salt, Chemicals
  • Premature Cracking and Parching Due to Heat
