> 3 dayOverall, I am very happy with the product as I had the right expectations going into trying it. Recommended for dark brown or black leather ONLY. Be forewarned that, while this product performs as expected, it ABSOLUTELY WILL SIGNIFICANTLY DARKEN medium brown (i.e. the majority of men’s and women’s boots on the market) or lighter leather. Also note that is not a good option for very light leathers such as white or gray, nor any colors (red, blue, etc) other than dark brown or black in my opinion. It will lighten -somewhat- over time from its darkest during application, however in my experience the original medium brown leather will NEVER come close to the original color ever again. Again, best for dark brown or black leather only. This is not a problem if you are open to, or otherwise perfectly happy with, a change to a much darker brown finish. If you can accept that, then it is an very good product. After application, 48-hours of drying, and then light buffing with a quality horse hair brush it leaves a satin finish that causes water to bead nicely. That said, I would not call it “waterproof”. I would not even call it “water resistant” unless it were applied in more than one coat and regular maintenance coats, perhaps not even then. This is more of a leather conditioner. Not good for suede or nubuck leathers. Fine for dark standard leather or glossy buffed leather (glossier shiny finishes will likely require vigorous buffing with an electric buffing wheel after application of this product to achieve again).

> 3 dayI am 72 years old and have discovered the best leather treatment there is. I use it on everything leather, from jackets & gloves to my custom made bull whips. I even use it on my dry and cracking feet once in a while. I am a retired pharmacist and I could, if I wanted to, make my own leather treatment (I did in college). I dont bother because HP heavy leather protection is easy to buyand it has everything in it that I would put in. (caution: never use neets field lotion, it will rott your leather)

> 3 dayAbsolutely awesome product. Easy to apply and easy to remove excess. I normally use another product to waterproof and weatherize my boots but this one came highly recommended and I am so glad I tried it.

> 3 dayI purchased 12 years ago an expensive calf high set of leather -20 degree hunting boots, made in America. I wanted to put the absolute best I could find on them for preservation. Did so, and can stand in 6 inches of water (longest time was about 20 minutes). I still wear them to this day, they color the leather a little deeper than natural untreated leather, but that was Immaterial. This stuff really works. Leather is supple, water proof, and all the stiching is as well. Get some, being a blend of numerous products, it works better than any single product I have ever used. Still wearing my boots too.

> 3 dayGot this to help break in a stiff new pair of leather 20 eye Doc Martens, based upon a recommendation I found in one of the reviews. GREAT PRODUCT. Applied the Obenhaufs to entire INSIDE area of the leather boots, really massaged it into the dry, stiff, leather of the new boots. The leather would absorb it immediately it seemed so I did a few coats per boot before the leather finally gained a more supple feel. Let the boots sit and condition for about 48 hours before wearing them for the first time. Doing this helped stretch and break in the boots TREMENDOUSLY, saving me from the suffering that my feet would have otherwise endured. Used about 1/3 of the tub for the initial application and have not had to reapply in the months since. As a bonus, it has a subtle and very pleasant scent, and left my hands superbly moisturized after applying this to the boots.
