This goes on easy and give leather a nice (if darker) look. Also protects and adds water resistance. Softens the leather a bit as well so it is more flexible,. Good for gloves and shoes.

Was specifically looking between this product and Huberds to use as dressing/conditioner for my new pair of Wesco boots. Boots can be very expensive and thus a investment that one expects to keep and wear for a very long time. So its important to use a product that fits this bill. After much research, between Obenaufs and Huberds the ingredients and quality are nearly identical and the main difference between them is the scent. Huberds is said to have a pine campfire scent and Obenaufs has a beeswax honey scent. Based off this i chose Obenaufs and very glad i did. The product itself is beeswax colored and smells more like a sweet natural beesewax scent. I liken it to natural lip balms with a slight honey aroma. Very mild and when working with it i couldnt actually smell it nor did it linger on the boots. I placed my boots and Obenaufs outside in the sun for a hour or so to heat up the leather and cleaned the boots with a damp rag to remove dirt and dust. After this i used my fingers to apply the product. I only used enough to cover the tips of my fingers and the leather absorbed quickly and easily into the leather. I then left them outside for a couple hours to absorb more of the product. No stickyness or change in texture! Overall fantastic product and i see this jar lasting a very long time!

This is some of the best beeswax type treatment on the market. It is super easy to put on and lasts a long time. Makes leather supple and waterproof. I use it on wooden handles as well, helps seal them and gives them a rich darker wooden color.

Used it to soften and condition thick leather ‘Whites’ boots that I use for construction work. Goes on greasy but soaks in and leaves a soft sheen. Helps repel water, I did a treatment before wearing the boots in the rain all day. No strong smell that I noticed. a little goes a long way couple dabs per boot.

after doing a bit of research this product was the only answer whether it be for a new pair of boots or an old pair that arent so pretty anymore, slap a coat on and it will feel 10 times better when wearing them. Not to mention how great they are for gloves.

Obenauf’s Heavy Duty LP

Industrial strength leather preservative (lp) was originally developed for protecting and waterproofing firefighters leather work boots. Heavy Duty LP is a leather conditioner made with our natural oil and beeswax formula. This unique Beeswax/Propolis Suspension Formula protects leather against caustic fire retardant chemicals, heat, water, and abrasion. Natural oils in Heavy Duty LP are gradually released into the fibers as a long term lubrication. Heat and flexing cause oils to be released, oiling the leather when it needs it most, making this an excellent leather boot conditioner. Before application, a spot test is recommended because Heavy Duty LP will darken your leather and nubuck. Not recommended for Suede. Made in the USA.

Apply Heavy Duty LP to your:

  • Leather Work Boots
  • Saddle Bags and Chaps
  • Belts
  • Holsters
  • Sheathes
  • Baseball Gloves
  • And more!

Originally Developed for Firefighters

Heavy Duty LP

Over 30 years ago, an Idaho Wildland Firefighter developed this unique Beeswax/Propolis Suspension Formula to protect leather against caustic fire retardant chemicals, ash, heat, water, and abrasion. Natural oils are gradually released into the fibers as a long-term lubrication. Heat or continued flexing causes oils to be released faster. Leather gets oiled when and where it needs it most; while on the job!

Recommended Application

At room temperature, apply by hand as body temperature helps melt LP into leather. Two applications last longer in wet conditions. For absorption, allow ten minutes or up to one hour between treatments. On smooth leather, buff off excess with a clean cloth. On nubuck, use a soft bristled brush. One ounce should provide one application to a pair of tall boots. Apply every 6 to 8 weeks or as needed.

Extensive Lab and Field Testing Compared Obenauf"s Against Other Products. Rated Superior and Proven to Resist:

  • Dynamic and Static Water Penetration
  • Scuffing and Abrasion
  • Manure Acid, Salt, Chemicals
  • Premature Cracking and Parching Due to Heat
  • Stitch Tear and Dry Rot
  • Perspiration
