> 3 dayI have traditionally used mink oil for my work boots and duty boots. Mink oil does fine but seems to leave everything ‘greasy’. Decided to try this stuff after using the last of my mink oil. It’s very pleasant to work with. Because it’s a wax biased product it melts in your hand during application, making it easier to work into the leather. I put on a heavy coating, let it dry and then took a cloth and wiped off the excess compound. Yes it does make the color a darker shade. For work boots, it doesn’t matter. I’m sure as they get worn, it will gradually lighten up before it needs reapplication.

> 3 daysuper easy to use, built for one purpose, protect & preserve leather. used on a 30y.o. pair of boots, brought them back to almost new feel on the leather. I use them on my work boots and gloves . simply the best.

28-11-2024I purchased 12 years ago an expensive calf high set of leather -20 degree hunting boots, made in America. I wanted to put the absolute best I could find on them for preservation. Did so, and can stand in 6 inches of water (longest time was about 20 minutes). I still wear them to this day, they color the leather a little deeper than natural untreated leather, but that was Immaterial. This stuff really works. Leather is supple, water proof, and all the stiching is as well. Get some, being a blend of numerous products, it works better than any single product I have ever used. Still wearing my boots too.

> 3 dayEasy to use, works very well for all lines of product. Always do a test patch and follow the instructions for use. Cleaned up a dew pairs of leather boots, a second hand leather jacket, and now these saddle bag. Brought them right back to life. Side note I also really enjoy that finished smell.

> 3 dayEasy to put on- I prefer to let mine “cure” for 2-3 days before wearing them but you can definitely wear them the next day after you put this stuff on. It works and I look forward to putting on a second coat because I love taking care of my shoes. It makes my boots feel hugged and keeps the leather in great conditions. Please note: It’s water proof- not stain proof so if you drop paint in your shoes after putting this stuff on them, don’t be surprised that paint stuck to your boot. It does indeed darken the leather but it lightens with use.

> 3 dayThe product is easy to apply and brought my boots back to life. Would have given 5 stars but the top of the jar was broken when the product arrived (must have been broken before being packaged because the broken piece was not in the box). I hope the product does not dry out before I use it all.

> 3 dayI see a lot of controversy surrounding this product so I’m going to clarify some things first. Please read the item description before purchasing. This is a heavy duty leather preservative designed for woodland firefighters. A lot of people want to jump straight to “the best” protection when it comes to boots. I’m here to say, that may not always be necessary. There are other products out there that may better suit your needs and give you better results! Bottom line, do your research. What kind of leather you have and how to care for it is most important. Now when it comes to this product, I’ve waited until the first significant snow to share my thoughts. The product works flawlessly. Water, ice, snow beads up and evaporates quickly. This product will darken your boots and give them more of a muddy, matte look. Horsehair brush will shine them up and re-destribute the wax throughout the leather. But your boots will remain darkened. Any varnish, leather aesthetics will be covered up. This includes scratches and scuffs. I’ve shared a few pictures. First one is the boot before treatment. Second picture is same boot after treating with Obenauf’s and waiting one week. Third picture are a pair of shoes I’ve treated with Obenauf’s. I used a heat gun at 200F to apply the product. This is absolutely not necessary. I also pre-treated the footwear with Obenauf’s Leather Oil a week prior before applying the wax. Again, not necessary. This is a great product but it’s not for everyone (or every shoe).
