> 3 dayI love this stuff. It really softens the leather. There is not much in the way of shine if that is your preference. It gives good waterproofing. I have used it on a few leather briefcases, camera bags, camera straps and several pairs of shoes. it will darken the leather. Test on a spot first. Wonderful smell, and your hands feel great when you are done too. Great stuff.

02-12-2024This is the product Russell Moccasin advises to use on most of their leather boots. Applying it is easy, just use your hands. I use saddle soap to clean then them off first, let them dry, then apply the Obenaufs. This product will darken your leather so do be prepared for that. I applied 2 coats but will still get some watermarks on my boots but I wear them everyday. It does make cleaning dirt off them easier. Im sure this product is helping prolong the usage/life of these boots.

Greater than one weekOverall, I am very happy with the product as I had the right expectations going into trying it. Recommended for dark brown or black leather ONLY. Be forewarned that, while this product performs as expected, it ABSOLUTELY WILL SIGNIFICANTLY DARKEN medium brown (i.e. the majority of men’s and women’s boots on the market) or lighter leather. Also note that is not a good option for very light leathers such as white or gray, nor any colors (red, blue, etc) other than dark brown or black in my opinion. It will lighten -somewhat- over time from its darkest during application, however in my experience the original medium brown leather will NEVER come close to the original color ever again. Again, best for dark brown or black leather only. This is not a problem if you are open to, or otherwise perfectly happy with, a change to a much darker brown finish. If you can accept that, then it is an very good product. After application, 48-hours of drying, and then light buffing with a quality horse hair brush it leaves a satin finish that causes water to bead nicely. That said, I would not call it “waterproof”. I would not even call it “water resistant” unless it were applied in more than one coat and regular maintenance coats, perhaps not even then. This is more of a leather conditioner. Not good for suede or nubuck leathers. Fine for dark standard leather or glossy buffed leather (glossier shiny finishes will likely require vigorous buffing with an electric buffing wheel after application of this product to achieve again).

> 3 dayStoring a North East Porsche 993 in Arizona exposes the leather to additional dryness with typical temperatures above 110 and topping 120 F. This product, after much research, is perfect for introducing plasticity to old automotive leather upholstery. Spot tested first, then daily for a couple of weeks, applied Obenaufs LP Boot Preservative. Best investment into my precious car I have made since her purchase. Great stuff - recommended. Works perfectly on Porsche 911 interior upholstery

> 3 dayThe odor is very light and pleasant, natural. I used it on our couch where the leather squeaks when rubbing against itself. This took care of the squeak for maybe a day. For the time it takes to rub this in, it isnt worth daily application to me. The dogs thought it smelled interesting, and I also dont want to encourage them to eat the couch anymore than they already try to do.

Greater than one weekI have way too much leather dog gear, but now its all soft and condition-y. And my hands were super soft after going on a conditioning spree, too. Good stuff.

> 3 dayI have been using this product for year on all my leather goods that touch real weather outside, such as rain and snow and dirt and what not. Easy to apply if you follow the instructions, multiple applications is the best way. Depending on how you use your leather products will depend on how long your application of this product will last. The more use out of them, like boots, the more often you will need to apply. For me and my world, my boots will get this at least twice a year. Gloves that get used more often, definitely get more applications. It is easy enough. Crank your oven to 250 or so, put your leather product in there, be careful if it has other non-leather pieces on it. Let the item sit to heat up, pull it out carefully and apply as much of the product that the leather will absorb. I personally place it back in the oven again (multiple times if need be), to heat it again and keep applying, until it looks and feels like it will not absorb any more. Great stuff.

> 3 dayWas specifically looking between this product and Huberds to use as dressing/conditioner for my new pair of Wesco boots. Boots can be very expensive and thus a investment that one expects to keep and wear for a very long time. So its important to use a product that fits this bill. After much research, between Obenaufs and Huberds the ingredients and quality are nearly identical and the main difference between them is the scent. Huberds is said to have a pine campfire scent and Obenaufs has a beeswax honey scent. Based off this i chose Obenaufs and very glad i did. The product itself is beeswax colored and smells more like a sweet natural beesewax scent. I liken it to natural lip balms with a slight honey aroma. Very mild and when working with it i couldnt actually smell it nor did it linger on the boots. I placed my boots and Obenaufs outside in the sun for a hour or so to heat up the leather and cleaned the boots with a damp rag to remove dirt and dust. After this i used my fingers to apply the product. I only used enough to cover the tips of my fingers and the leather absorbed quickly and easily into the leather. I then left them outside for a couple hours to absorb more of the product. No stickyness or change in texture! Overall fantastic product and i see this jar lasting a very long time!

> 3 dayEasy to put on- I prefer to let mine “cure” for 2-3 days before wearing them but you can definitely wear them the next day after you put this stuff on. It works and I look forward to putting on a second coat because I love taking care of my shoes. It makes my boots feel hugged and keeps the leather in great conditions. Please note: It’s water proof- not stain proof so if you drop paint in your shoes after putting this stuff on them, don’t be surprised that paint stuck to your boot. It does indeed darken the leather but it lightens with use.
