> 3 dayDo not buy these lights! These lights are good in theory but they are not ready for prime time in the slightest. The main gripe I have is that you cannot use your actual light switch to use these lights in the way you likely want to. For example, say you want a nice blue tinted light in your room rather than the more yellow tint the bulb gives off when you first put in in. Too bad. Seriously, turning the light off with your light switch automatically resets the color back to the standard yellow rather than the color you took the time to set it to. The only work around are to 1) use the app to turn your lights on and off (cumbersome and unintuitive) or 2) to buy their light switch (which, if you ever accidentally use your real light switch to turn the lights off, still means you must use the app to get them back to the color you desired. That’s ridiculously stupid for a ‘’smart’’ light.

11-06-2025These light bulbs are life-changing. I was having a hard time waking up in the morning and my boyfriend introduced me to these bulbs and the sunrise feature. I loved them, but since they were pricey, I went for a cheaper version (Flux bulbs). Dont make that mistake! The Flux app has similar features but is clunky and not intuitive, the bulbs have connectivity issues and sometimes didnt work, and the bulbs werent very smart - if I turned them off/on outside of their programmed times to turn off/on, they would do weird things and not work properly. For those reasons, the Hue bulbs are worth every penny. I have them set to turn on when I come home and turn off when I leave or at my bedtime - I dont even think about turning lights on/off anymore. They sunrise *every* morning without fail. If I wake up early and turn them on before the sunrise starts, they just skip the sunrise. (The flux bulbs wouldnt know what to do and would turn off, then back on, instead of skipping the sunrise.) And the scenes are really fun! I dont have great lighting in my apartment and its never felt very home-y, but these bulbs give it some warm light and the ability to dim them to the level of light you need makes my place feel really cozy and inviting. I cant wait to buy more and I will definitely be giving these out as Christmas gifts - everyone needs them!

> 3 dayI bought these in November, 2018. Here it is April 1, 2019 and one of the bulbs has failed. For the price I paid, it should last longer than 5 months. Cant return it to Amazon, not sure if Philips warranty is any good. Sucks to be me, but I wont purchase any more Philips products.

> 3 dayNewest edition to our smart home, i think we have more fun finding light combinations then anything. Our daughter loves telling Alexa to turn on the lights in her room.

> 3 dayI bought the starter pack with the two RGB bulbs and hue bridge for $80, and they are pretty cool! However, they are a far way away from being $80 cool. No built in animations, inefficient bridge API drains your phone battery quickly, lights are not that bright, and even though Phillips claims they last for 22 years they only put a couple year warranty on it. Talk about not backing your products. If you claim they last for X amount of time, prove it with a warranty!

> 3 dayI currently have two color bulbs in the living room, a lightstrip in the kitchen, and a dimmer switch. I didnt really care about colors, I just wanted the ambiance bulbs and this kit was on sale. I actually do like the colors though, esp for the warmer scenes. I probably still wouldnt pay full price for them, but I would buy more color bulbs if they were on sale. The bulbs are brighter than I expected, but they could still be brighter. I wish they made 75W equivalents, but Ill just end up adding a floor lamp with more Hue bulbs to compensate. The app is functional, but could definitely be improved. I find it really frustrating that I can delete light recipes but not edit or create them. I dont even understand why light recipes and scenes are considered separate things. Overall the options for lighting with this (bright, dim, warm, cool, colors) really improve the lighting of the rooms.

> 3 dayThese lights are fun. Besides just lighting it is very cool to have control on them with the app on your smartphone. Although I had a little bit of trouble at first linking with Google assistant (problem solved by deleting the hue app and letting Google assistant install it for you), now I am setting up routines that improve how my house works, so to speak. My family is learning how to control it and setting up rooms within the app, and although it is easy and intuitive, it still adds a learning curve to the experience. Definitely would like to add more lights and accessories in the future.
