> 3 dayAll wifi connected devices have occasional connectivity issues. It just goes with the territory. My house doesn’t need a sump pump, but I have recommended the PumpSpy to three friends over the past few years who all love them. One friend contacted me recently saying his unit had disconnected from wifi and he couldn’t get it to reconnect. I tried to get him set back up but was also unsuccessful. I was starting to second guess my decision to recommend he get one, but had him contact PumpSpy hoping they would help. To my surprised they were easy to contact, called him within a day and had him re-connected quickly. I will continue to recommend PumpSpy and will be installing one in the new house I’m building.

> 3 dayI don’t ever write reviews, but I have to for this product. I have a very active sump pump during heavy rains and then a couple days afterwards. Knowing that my pump is function while I’m away is by far one of the most stressful times for me. After having a pump fail and not know about it until it did thousands of dollars of damage, I had to find a fix. I bought the pump spy along with a battery backup pump. We just received a 2 3/4” downpour that lasted about a half hour. My pump spy was the first thing I checked as I was not home during this rain. As I write this review, pump spy has shown that my pump has cycled 68 times taking 841 gallons of water out of my pit. Is averaging about 12 gallons per cycle. If there is one product out there that is worth the money, it is THIS!!

19-11-2024Ive had two outlets over the course of 4 years and havent had any real issues, but when I did have some bumps in the road, customer service was great. App is good and allows free (no monthly fee) monitoring and allows you to add multiple e-mail/SMS recipients, the no monthly fee part is the best.

Greater than one weekThis thing is a total piece of junk. Bought 2 of them, the original and the 2.0 and they are exactly the same. Both say 2.0 on them so clearly there is no difference, they just wanted to rebrand to clear the negative reviews. Major issues connecting these to wifi. Tons of errors, took over an hour before I figured out to set the IP address manually to get them to join. The setup steps provided straight up don’t work. The app is also a piece of junk. It doesn’t work most of the time and often just sits there spinning and never loads. Frequently have to kill it and restart it 2 or 3 times to even get it to load. Functionality also doesn’t work. I can unplug the device for hours at a time and I won’t receive a power loss alert and it will still show ‘Power On’ in the app. Unfortunately there aren’t many competitors or alternatives. Moen makes a product so maybe look at that. Disappointed beyond belief in this product.

> 3 dayTerrible customer support. I’ve never had any follow up after emailing and leaving multiple messages. The app isn’t working correctly and does not give correct measurements. It also shuts off for no reason.

> 3 dayMine quit working after two years. I recently upgraded my mesh network nodes and setup a new SSID (network name) in the process. That required me to press the button on the PumpSpy in order to put it into “setup mode”. I did that and the ring around the outlet turned amber as it should. However, soon after the light went out and never came on again. It’s dead. I opened a ticket with support and explained everything. They had me email them my receipt, etc. Now, they want me to ship it back to them at my expense so they can determine if it needs repaired or replaced. They also sent me a list of things I need to include with the package. They want me to include the ticket number, but also a description of the issue I’m experiencing. And if it’s determined that the device is functioning properly, then they want me to pay for return shipping. Ummm, no thanks. How about I save us all the trouble and drop it in the trash. I’m just going to buy some water sensors for my SmartThings and call it a day.

> 3 dayThe PumpSpy Smart Outlet (PSO) is pricey, but worth the money with its promise to alert me to sump pump motor malfunction, pump jam, faulty switch, power failure, high water. My goal is to know when my primary pump fails, which means my battery-backup sump is carrying the load and I a few days to change out the primary. My PSO truly appears to solve my goal, but has only been installed for 30-days, which is too short to verify long-term performance. However, I am comforted seeing (1) pump cycles per day, (2) Cycle Length, and (3) Est. Gallons pumped. I emailed PumpSpy support to find out the metric used for Cycle Length (seconds) and what the procedure is to change WIFI equipment (push the reset button on the Smart Outlet). They responded via Email within 24-hours. The only con is Est. Gallons pumped is based on a 75-GPM pump and mine is a 50-GPM pump; therefore, my actual Est. Gallons pumped per day is 2/3 of what is reported in the app.

> 3 dayKinda false advertising. States free monitoring 24/7. By their own admission, all this device does is monitor. So, you are paying 159.00 for monitoring, nothing else. I asked why they did not include an audible high water alarm. Their response was that it is not an often asked for improvement. But, they do offer a separate audible high water alarm. So, if you have a failure when you are asleep you will wake up to a possible flooded basement. It does tell you how many times your pumps runs every day. Big whoop! I’ll tell you exactly how many times it should run; every time the water level rises enough to to trip the float switch. Don’t pay for meaningless information, like how many gallons were pumped. Who cares? I’m keeping mine but I think it is terribly expensive for what you get. I did buy their separate high water alarm, $12.00 that’s a bargain

Greater than one weekI own two of these. Ive had both for about 2-3 years. They are essentially Wifi enabled smart outlets that let you know how often your sump has gone off. In addition, they offer some estimates on volume pumped etc. If those estimates are accurate I cant say. Whats been most valuable for me is knowing how fast my sump(s) are running and if my secondary sump has activated (indicating an issue with the primary). I also have a battery backup sump, which has an audible alarm so Im not using these for emergency notifications on my sump. Ive had my basement flood twice so Im nervous during storms. What this does it give me confidence if Im not home, or a heads up if I am to get my external sump ready. Previously, they used to store several months worth of sump activity that you could see on the app and document with a screen shot if desired. It would have been nice if there was a way to download the information, but there wasnt. In the past year theyve limited the history to only about 90 days, which is OK, but it was better when you could look at information further in the past. UPDATE In the past couple of days (June 2022) they have updated the APP and as a result all the history data has been erased and the you can only see how many times the pump has run that day and when the last run was. This makes it very limited in use. The app is everything for this product. Without it, its a totally useless plug adapter. For the money I would consider looking at something else. Especially as PumpSpy explicitly says they can share your sump pump data with anyone, apparently except you with the latest APP update. UPDATE 2: So in July 2022 they returned the history data, which was most welcome. However, the APP is having serious problems. Today (8/1/22) it wont even let me see my sumps or log off to try and log back on. Ive emailed customer support and they immediately closed my request for assistance after acknowledging in. I think their App and customer support has seriously gone to hell in a handbasket. I already own two, so Ill hand in there a bit, but if youre looking avoid this for now.

> 3 dayI bought two of these to put on my sump pumps in the basement. They dont work half the time, and even when they do work the information they provide is inadequate. I really wanted these to work, but I feel like a sucker for owning two $160 wall outlets. Save yourself the hassle and look elsewhere for your needs.
